Same as Mathew’s except has one extra for his history: February 2019: McDavid received a two-game suspension for an illegal check to the head of New York Islanders defenseman Nick Leddy
Meier and Matthews got one and 2 games with no history and Mcdavid and Myers got the extra game for having a suspension history IMO. Seems like a decent call. But will player saftey keep a standard going forward. I doubt it
Myers had 2 previous suspensions, so 3 games made sense there. McDavid had a previous suspension, but it was like 6 years ago. So I think 3 games was tough but fair. I honestly am for longer suspensions overall for these types of things
This is a bad take imo. I'd say disuading players from engaging in plays like these is an overall good thing for the sport. If your argument is that you'd like player safety to come out with an exact equation for how they handle their calls I 100% agree with that take but it really feels like this is just complaining that McDavid got 3 games instead of 2.
I am happy. Because Mc David deserved 2-3 games, no having said that the second one in the same game where who is that from Vancouver gross checked player that didn't deserve it. Maybe it was a Oilers saying that I'll revenge that cross check.
I feel that, with the circumstances both players were put in, 3 each is fair. Mcdavid and Myers chose to put both hands on their stick and thrust it towards an opponent. Both frustrated after a heated ending to a game. Its unfortunate that they both aimed high in the first place. Well mcdavid high, Myers low. Lol
Watching this during Gripper Nation intermission😁 I was expecting 2. Not 3. But 3 makes sense for McDavid if they're just punishing in the future for the chicken wing they ignored (they wouldn't admit it though, but I think the 3rd game is for the chicken wing). Myers doesn't make sense though.
I believe you're right. The third game for McDavid was for the chicken wing and I think Myers gets the extra game because it seems that his cross-check was not part of a larger scuffle.
I said 2 games to make sure both Myers and McDavid don't play on Thursday in the rematch in Edmonton, 3 is fair but at the same time makes no sense, because the NHL is just doing whatever at this point with no logic lol
How about the next time a Maple Leaf player gets into trouble & is facing a suspension, I hope you make an impassioned plea on their behalf also, instead of sitting there, giggling at Steve freaking out and making all the same points like “player department of making-no-sense”… McDavid obviously got an extra game because he had a history. It said it right in the video. You’re not paying attention. He’s already been suspended before, in 2019. People throwing these garbage takes around are living in some kind of alternate reality it seems. Making excuses. Just because he’s the best player, he shouldn’t be held accountable?
McDavid also has about 30 uncalled penalties taken against him per game in front of the refs. Glad he got 3 for being an idiot and taking it too far, I think guys should be held to more games so they stop doing this kind of shit that can cause serious injuries but also need to hold the guys like garland who do shit like tackle a guy at center ice for being better than him accountable for that stuff as well. It's pretty soft to say "yeah I held him, i thought we could win if I did"
@mrchi3f1179 I would much rather take that to the side of my head rather than my mouth. McDavid wanted to get a piece and Myers wanted to remove his teeth.
@ I get what you're saying but unfortunately that's not how it works. Both regarded as a crosscheck to the head. Plus to the temple has a higher chance of causing concussions vs stick to the face.
I won't defend Myers here, or any cross-check to a person's face. But McDavid's cross-check wasn't *not* violent by any stretch. He cross checked a guy in the head who wasn't even looking at him, how much more violent could it get, without Marty McSorley'ing a guy? That can't be considered anything but a vicious attack; he wasn't defending himself, didn't take a similar shot to the head, nothing like that. Come on, no one's allowed to attack a human being's head (especially with intent to injure) in any facet of life. Oilers will be fine in the regular season standings, get over a fair suspension and understand what's being protected here.

If this means they're starting to take player safety more seriously then I'm all for it
and Tyler Myers too!
how does it make no sense they both have a history and it was at the end of the game
This is a terrible take. They both deserved 3. Mathew’s had no priors
Meier and Matthews got one and 2 games with no history and Mcdavid and Myers got the extra game for having a suspension history IMO. Seems like a decent call. But will player saftey keep a standard going forward. I doubt it
it also happened in the last seconds of the game
Myers had 2 previous suspensions, so 3 games made sense there. McDavid had a previous suspension, but it was like 6 years ago. So I think 3 games was tough but fair. I honestly am for longer suspensions overall for these types of things
Lifetime suspension for Parros! He is such a joke. NHL is a giant joke! Bettman turned the NHL into a colossal joke!
Well two for Matthews wasn't a deterrent, so you have to up the ante
The 3rd game is for not accepting the CS on the ice after last year’s Final!!!

Maybe he got the 3rd game because he got away with an elbow a few days earlier, or maybe just his prior history.
Really feel like it shoulda been 2 games
McDavid just needs to change his name to Sam Bennett. Problem solved.

Moat likely
If he didn't connect then why didn't he return to the game and is now on IR with an upper body injury?
Soft take... McSoftie got pinned by a 5'9 165lbs player for 15 seconds.
(He deserves the 3 games for being a baby)
How many games did the refs get?

Wes was the one deserving of those crosscheck Dennis Wideman was correct.
Excellent suspension for offences could have caused injuries on both plays
And Tyler Myers too?! I don't get it! There are no standards but they're great at this inconsistent thing. I'll tell you that much
Oilers wont have mcdavid for the next canucks meeting. I see a grudge match coming
HISTORY
NHL is rigger for Toronto!
I HOPE THE REF GETS SUSPENDED OR FIRED. THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPENED IF THE REF DID THEIR DANG JOB TO BEGIN WITH!
McJesus could have dropped his gloves, but noo...
Three games is ok

Not correct, cross checking needs to be called, in addition drop your gloves you big 🐈
Bruh if Tyler myers gets less than 3
They got the same 3 each
The uncalled hold is the most egregious part of the whole thing
Ugh... I thought the podcast breakdown you did was great when going through this incident... this just feels like a slap in the face.
soft canadian McDavid deserved suspension
I don't think he should've gotten 3, That's the issue and so I think that's why a lot of people are mad towards it or confused
McDavid should have gotten 5, he gets away with so much just because he's one of the faces of the league.
McDavid also has about 30 uncalled penalties taken against him per game in front of the refs.

The refs deserved 3 games as well.
I can't believe they took both those cross checks at the same level. Myers was violent and Mcdavid was being retaliatory.
Jeez watch the game, Myers was retaliatory to Bouchard's slash after a clean hit on the boards
@mrchi3f1179 I would much rather take that to the side of my head rather than my mouth. McDavid wanted to get a piece and Myers wanted to remove his teeth.

It's Carma.
Conner had it coming. You can't cross check someone in the face don t understand what you don't see it
