Noooooo it should definitely be remade! Who cares if it’s not the “classic”? The more outsiders the better I always say! Who cares if it sucks because it’s not the original? It would still be fun to make and they’ll simply be another movie so people can watch two! I wanna live in a world with as much outsiders stuff as possible!
@@manja4634 I know! I thought it was a pretty good reading, actually... But then he got to do those back-flips off the roofs of the cars as Steve, so I guess it worked out...? 🤷♀️
I find it funny that for so long everyone was like "the casting couch is just a myth" and now they're like "every movie ever made utilized the casting couch"! Talk about going from one extreme to the other!
Holy shit. I never realized that C Thomas Howell played Ponyboy and also is same person who played "The Reaper" in criminal minds. It's such a drastic contrast. Innocent Ponyboy to sick and twisted Reaper who loved making Hotch's life hell.
Ashley Kontz my realization was the opposite watched the outsiders for the first time two years ago was making my way through Netflix and started to realize that he played ponyboy and got excited.
Matt Dillon is still pretty hot, I mean for some reason I was so interested in the first season of Wayward Pines, that guy sure looks good in a suit. Tom Cruise and Rob Lowe also look great still.
Well just to clarify its not that he is aging , hes only like 30 something here and I don't think he looks ugly here in 2003 C . Thomas Howell got appendicitis and had to have three feet of intestine removed from himself that is why he looks the way he does.
I wish I could meet them, oh and my friend dressed in a black shirt and blue jeans and tried to comb his hair like Ponyboy and it was funny he went to school looking like that.
I'm obsessed with this cast! It's so cute to see how young everyone was. They were probably so excited to be a part of it. Even from the auditions clips, I recognized a cast member from season 1 of the Facts of Life and Anthony Michael Hall. Such a good movie.
I read all the books as a young teen and I think The Outsiders was cast perfectly. Each actor embodied the spirit of their character. This is such an iconic movie. Everything about it is great.
I wish I lived to see the days where ponyboy and Johnny were kids but now they’re old and I’m sad Roses are red Violets are blue I have a crush on ponyboy and Johnny and any other girl that whatched the outsiders does too
The casting is amazing! Hearing all the famous names that didn’t make the cut is legendary. I’m reading this with my class, as I do every year and they love it! I show clips from the movie as we go along bc it’s THE best book to movie ever. I still have students 20 years later finding me in Facebook and such telling me to Stay Gold and I’m honored to get to read this 7 times a day for over 20 years. It’s timeless and when kids tell me they hate to read, this is my go to book and the kids start reading and I know I created lifelong readers over the years, all thanks to SE Hinton.
First found out about the Outsiders in 8th grade when my English teacher forced us to read it and jot down notes about the characters and their eye colors. Although I hated taking the notes I really did enjoy the book and I was even more excited about watching the movie in class. Now thanks to my 8th grade ELA teacher I'm obsessed.
This movie is amazing! The scene where Ponyboy wakes up, after Johnny killed the social, and the camera spins from an upside down angle to upright... 🎥genius!
Yes, he's so natural. He was so very good in "Born on the 4th of July". People were sobbing in the theater. When you have people choking back tears, that is talent. I don't agree with his personal beliefs, but he's a good actor.
Tom Cruise had a small part that had nothing to do with the success of this movie. The story centered around PonyBoy, Johnny and Dallas. The secondary characters were Cherry Valance and Daryl who was played by a very underrated actor named Patrick Swayze. All the other famous actors had minor roles.
The Outsiders was my fave book and I always had a picture in my head like a movie how it would turn out..........imagine my suprise when the movie came out that everything from casting to direction to editing was exactly how I saw it in my head when reading the book! This movie is my all time fave on my list.
Aww, I didn't know Anthony M. Hall Auditioned! I think he would be a good "Ponyboy" maybe a tiny bit younger than he was in Weird Science.. But come on, Who can replace Tommy.. I'm glad he was in WS though, Great actor The roll fit him perfect (:
Marisa Pixel hahaha ikr! But some teens will fight to the death to support harry styles. But deep down they know the truth-__- lmao (no hate to harry styles) :p
I have to say the director has a pretty good taste for actors ;-)
yes. yes he did.
Oh yeah he got the casting for this and the godfather spot on
Ashley Morgan yes he did
I think he picked the teenage heartthrobs of the 80s’ 😂😂😂
Mai Nguyen This was in 1982 though :p
Omg Matt seemed so nervous "I guess I'll, ill, I'll read Dallas I guess um."

An American classic that should NEVER BE REMADE.
Tru
Heaven is a dirt nap true, it knowing this shitty-ass generation, it probably will be
Heaven is a dirt nap Yes this movie should not end up like Diary of a Wimpy Kid
They remade it as a tv series in the 90's; and it made me okay with how long it took DiCaprio to get an Oscar.
"I guess I'll read for Dallas."
*BECOMES DALLAS FOR THE MOST MEMORABLE MOVIE EVER*
Thanks brats uactors re
Matt Dillon comes in so cool lol right off the top i'd be like "we got our our Dallas"
agui desu yes 😂🤣
He’s my favorite character! So mad he died!
Love Matt though
I think he was the first actor cast, if I remember correctly.
the part when Rob Lowe says "Im sorry this isn't working I don't know why.." is so adorableeee omgg😍😍
Lowkeyinyourmind he was good looking at the point he ruined his career lol

I love how the casting director described the audition process as "fun" and the actors described it as "grueling". lol
UA-camName right lmaooo
It’s true though.😂
This guy has a good eye. Matt Dillon & Diane Lane did a lot of work with Francis.

Why is no one appreciatin how young matt dillan was more attractive than all of them
Parnianlangroudi_ I've never known
I agree. I used to have a poster size picture of him on my wall in my room. But I fell in love with Matt Dillion in this movie.

Ha the casting director kept saying that rob Lowe was very pretty
Was he wrong? I mean rob lowe isn't handsome he IS VERY PRETTY. It's the eyes.
Well he is pretty. He is the most beautiful boy I've ever seen❤
Well yah that is true actually. He is so freaking beautiful.
I've often wondered if his younger brother Chad ever felt inadequate?

Matt sounds like dall with out acting Lol I love his voice
his voice is very soothing
very late to watching this lol 😭 but he has a natural nyc accent
Gosh I'm so glad they chose the actors that they did 😂

Everything i see tom c howell aged i cant get criminal minds out of my head 😂
He also didn’t age well. Went from The Hitcher to middle age
this movie was cast so incredibly well, I physically cannot imagine ANYONE else playing different roles

Matt Dillon is still pretty hot, I mean for some reason I was so interested in the first season of Wayward Pines, that guy sure looks good in a suit. Tom Cruise and Rob Lowe also look great still.
I think so, too, with Tom and Rob. Not many middle-aged people still look good.
are you forgetting about Ralph? Ralph aged amazingly
starbucks edits rightt he was literally 22 in the outsiders
The cast of the Outsiders is possibly the most legendary collection of actors in one film. And who the hell wouldve known it at the time? Incredible!
You cannot touch Matt Dillon for the role of Dallas. My kids are reading this classic in school and it has been such a treat to go back and see this.
The actor who played ponyboy is not ugly it's called aging
Well just to clarify its not that he is aging , hes only like 30 something here and I don't think he looks ugly here in 2003 C . Thomas Howell got appendicitis and had to have three feet of intestine removed from himself that is why he looks the way he does.
tandra sandra He wasn’t 30 then he was 17 in 1983 but he was 16 when the movie was being filmed in 1982
Sodapop no like when they are talking about the movie in 2007 he was 30 not in 1982
15 when he filmed 16 when the movie cameout
