You, Me & the RV
You me and the RV
Veteran of submarines here. We also enjoyed visiting The Academy. A must see for any vet. Glad to see you kept your military bearing as you walked the holy grounds. Beat Army!
I went to Annapolis and the Naval Academy once as a liberty port of all things. The ship was anchored out, and we ran liberty boats. The weather got bad, and boats stopped running. I was lucky enough to spend that night in the academy gym with 400 of my closest friends and shipmates. "A great trip down memory lane." As you put it.
Our middle son attended the USNA, graduated, and was commissioned in 17'. So much beauty and history in Annapolis. You feel proud to be an American walking around that campus. What a treat to be there during commissioning week. Go Navy, Beat Army!
Not sure when your son graduated, but I seriously doubt he was commissioned at 17 y/o. When I graduated the academy you were not commissioned till graduation. I do not know of any 13 year old that went to the academy.
@@boondockingamerica 2017, not 17 yrs
Annapolis is a beautiful place - had a 65' Hatteras docked there ... my son was lucky enough to be admitted and graduate from the Academy. Great memories. Proud Master Chief Dad!
The actor that played the scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz won an award, he was outstanding in his field.
I spent my college years in Annapolis, and apparently, I missed something, because I spent another 3 years there as an Instructor. It's a beautiful area. Surprised at the number of newer facilities. Very nice!
Thanks for sharing!
Annapolis is amazing, and USNA is a great place to be FROM. Class of ‘83 is A Class Act!
Our daughter and son in law are USNA Class of 2015.. GO NAVY BEAT ARMY!!
Absolutely loved this video. I am a Navy Veteran and was station in Wash DC and loved going to Annapolis. Thanks for bringing back the memories! Safe travels.
I grew up boating on the Chesapeake Bay. Been to Annapolis many times but you saw more of it than I ever did.
Md. native. My grandmother lived on Green Street, a view of the Harbor and a fifteen minute walk to the Academy. Learned to sail there. One of my favorite places. Lots of history. Last time I visited, on my way out, the brigade was crossing to a football game in the stadium.
We love our visit to Annapolis.
I very much enjoyed this video! My wife and I were there with our family during grad week to enjoy watching our grandson Dylan graduate. Just an awesome and proud moment. If fact, he’s in the video on the digital screen at the visitor center. Thanks for this!
That is awesome!
You were in my stomping grounds. Grew up outside of Annapolis. Attended many formal dances in Dahlgren Hall - picked up mids from Bancroft hall for weekend leave. So many good memories! Hope you got to see the Blue Angels fly - they were here for graduation also.
Best model ship collection in the world!🙌🏼
Stacy, not so much where we are today, but where we were, and where our founders intended.
If I ever go there I will look the sites up, I love to see history like this
Thank You for sharing. From one veteran to another veteran. Thank You for your service. The Best Job That I Ever Had.
I spent my grade school through high school years living in the Virginia side of DC area. I missed visiting Annapolis and sorry I did. It is a phenomenal place! Although Oregon is where I call home now, that part of the country still calls to me. 😊
So glad you enjoyed my hometown 🇺🇸
I enjoy your VLOG. As a Canadian, I appreciate having America as friends. Guess we can't stay in your military camps but do enjoy the COE stops. Also...we spent a month RVing on Newfoundland and it is a huge island and the most beautiful scenery and SUPER people. ENJOY!
Great video! - Annapolis looks awesome.
Great trip shaping up - I hope you make it to Ottawa! - Cheers!
Incredible video! The history, the gorgeous architecture inside and out, our wonderful military base were just amazing to see. Thanks so much for a fabulous video!
The Naval Academy is a cool place. Did you get down to see John Paul Jones' grave? Have fun traveling and maybe you'll run into One Advanture at a time on their way back down. Keep the good stuff coming.
I love the historical places thst ya'll share with us. It is so interesting to hear the history thst we have in our United States 🇺🇸 🇺🇲. Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
Loved Annapolis and the Naval Academy.
Wonderful episode! We hope to visit Annapolis sometime in the near future. I’m told there is a plaque to a distant relative. My 6th great uncle, Commodore John Barry located at one of the entrances and I would like to check it out. Thanks again for taking us along with you.
Sounds great!
You know how some dads point out where they've done work? That was me this entire vid..lol So much time all over that town has given me so much appreciation for the locals. Glad you enjoyed yourselves
So true
I love it! “Flag Fixin’ Phil” I guess I’m not the only one who does this. It must be done. -Pete
Indeed!!!
Love this vid shipmates….thanks. Highlight of any visit to Maryland.
Great information on the military campgrounds. Our daughter and SIL are stationed at the Pentagon and we will be staying at the Fort Belvoir campground this fall. We may try to stay a few nights at Fort Mead or the academy to go back and visit the academy. Last time we were there it was pouring down raining. Hope your enjoying your trip up the coast. May run into you when you come back to Castroville TX.
We did a spring trip RV trip there in 2013. Late May was a beautiful time there.
“Milling about smartly”…. Sir, yes Sir. Beat Army!
Hand Salute!!!
What a surprise, Phil found an ice cream shop!
The best!
We toured the Naval Academy summer before last while we staying at the Ft Belvoir FAMCAMP. Barbara’s father, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather all graduated from there.
Hand Salute!
Spent the worst 4 years of my life at Annapolis. But it made it possibly for me to retire st 47 and never have to worry about money or anything again.
We are headed to the West Virginia/Maryland in September and hope to get to see Annapolis on our Journey. Looks amazing! Thank you for your service.
Have fun!
Hi Stacy & Phil, loved the vid as always. Really liked the look of the Naval Academy and was glad that it brought back good memories of when you served! Going on from this perhaps the pair of you could post pictures of yourselves on your website showing how you looked when you were in uniform! Also ask all of your friends from the RV community who served to post pictures of themselves when they were in uniform. Just a thought.
Great idea. We will have to see about that.
Wow … Thank you Phil and Stacy for the shout out … sorry we were not able to match up our schedules … we will get you to a home game in the future for sure … we are spending most of Oct at Ft Meade for 3 home games … The USNA RV Park is not our favorite … a little small … dump station only and a little tight … at least compared to Ft Meade
Glad you finally saw it. LOL. Wish we could be there at Ft. Meade with ya'll!!!
I can't believe we missed you! We will be at Camp Meade in a few days! Thanks for the great Annapolis tour!
Next time!
Great video!
I have a dear friend interred there and I must get back to visit him. Go Bubbleheads!
Loved the video today. I grew up in Maryland and my brother lives in Annapolis. It is one of our favorite places. You showed a bunch of stuff we haven't seen yet. You guys were smart to stay at Ft. Meade.(Go Army!). We stayed at the Naval Academy RV park last year. So far, the worst military park we have stayed in 2 years, sadly. The bathhouse had no ventilation. The weeds were very overgrown between the sites. The dump station wasn't working and no one was working on it. Was very surprised that the Academy didn't have a top notch park.
That is tough to hear that the academy wasn't on top of it!!!
Always love your videos .real patriots . Your music you pic stacy lifts me up every time 🙏
Thank you so much!!!
A new job for hubby moved us from Austin to the MD suburbs outside DC. At least once a month we visited some historic location in the area. And the short (at least short to us since we thought nothing of a drive from Austin to Dallas on Fri pm & back on Sun pm) drive to Annapolis was easy to do with so many things to see in the area. So we were lucky that we were able to spread out our visits to this lovely & historic city in MD & spend many visits to see all the different things there.
Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed seeing the city and Naval Academy.
Love all your videos. Thank you for your service! 💛
Thank you so much!
Awwww No Bloopers 😂 Safe Travels ❤️🤍💙
Welcome to Annapolis. Glad to have you visit the Naval Academy .
I love Annapolis. Great food, awesome history and of course the Naval Academy.
I love history! This looks amazing! But there is one question that inquiring minds want to know….. Did Phil do the tour because he was getting ice cream at the end?! 😂. Another great video! Thanks guys!
Yes and yes! Ice cream is always a good bribing tool!
Thank you both for your service!
Also……
Go ARMY!!!!
Carry on!
LOL
I am on the other side of the Chesapeake bay on the Delmarva peninsula. I suggest you drive across the bay Bridge and check Delmarva. Can also come up from Virginia Beach via the bay Bridge tunnel. Eastern shore & Delaware Bay are great places to explore.
We have explored those areas. We were stationed in VA Beach for almost 10 years. We have a few vids on our channel from that area.
Awww. I wish I knew you were going to be in Annapolis, we are across the Bay Bridge. We could of said hi or you could have pulled in our farm and hooked up your camper, had some fresh veggies from our farm. Maybe next time!! Angel L.
Next time!
Beautiful video! Love going to Annapolis it’s near my home. Thank you for your service!
Thank you too!
Thanks for the video. I am originally from Baltimore and made several visits to the Academy in the 60’s. Did you see Dave Jones Locker under the chapel?
"Go Navy, Beat Army"...... Better luck next time, Navy! Hooah! Hahaha Though, that was pretty badass to watch!
Thanks!
Great video! I have never been to Annapolis… I will put it on my bucket list 😊… Lisa
You should!
Phil, Stacy, of all the comments I have sent to ya'll, I have never thanked you for your service. THANK YA'LL.
It's hard to comprehend ALL the history that has occurred there.
I'm a Texas boy, born and raised, I have (as I have gotten older) come to appreciate the places I visit and think of all the history that has happened here and tge historical people that are have seen exactly what i am seeing . Changes your perspective when you think about like that.
Another great video. Thank ya'll for all you do to bring us these videos and sharing them with us.
God bless ya'll and stay safe on your travels.
Thanks a ton!!!
Awesome video!
Thanks! Feel free to share!
I was only 12 when I was there with my family. Not old enough to really appreciate all the history. Thank you for another great video ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video. Go Army, Beat Navy!
Very informative video!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!!!
You are so welcome!
Great place Didn't stop there but did visit Independence Hall for a little history.
Something to plan for. Hopefully you have a EZPass.(You need 2 one for the coach and one for the toad). Saves you money and hassle. Going North DO NOT USE THE GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE. Go north to the Como.
First off great video and thank you. Second off GO NAVY!! Other than family the absolute coolest and by far my greatest memory is roughly 30 years ago in San Francisco before it became the hell hole it is today. To set the stage I could not find a Diet Coke for less than two dollars. Alcatraz was neat as was Fisherman's Wharf and Lombard street. Now I know I have lived a lot in the breaths that I have taken but again other than family the greatest thing ever was the seven dollar tour I took on a WWII submarine!!!! Now I was a thirty year boater so not new to vessels. The audio tour was impressive but what really pushed this tour to the stratosphere was there were two WWII submariners that did not serve on this submarine but the same class of submarine so tons of knowledge. I was in such awe of these gentlemen that I still get choked up thinking about the experience. Diet Coke two dollars this tour seven dollars. What? Best value for my seven dollars ever. You can not believe how cramped this vessel was and just one example is 77 men and one head! If people ever try and tell me our prisons are overcrowded the get an earful from me. These men that served on those vessels and certainly all that served hold such a special place in my heart. Thank you Phil and Stacy and one more GO NAVY!!
Hey Annapolis !!! Too bad I didn't know you were here. I have wanted to meet you two. Maybe next time.
And with you camping at Ft.Meade , you were only 17 miles from me. Like I said. Maybe next time.
Old home week for all of you. Good thing you stayed on an Army base. 😃
LOL
This was wonderful to see thanks for the video
Our pleasure!
@@todayissomeday That is wonderful thanks again
If you 2 are coming north up to Havre de Grace Md it’s about an hour north of Annapolis let me know treat you to dinner in that area
How did you enjoy our traffic? Should of went over the bridge and visited Fisherman’s Crab Deck.
You made the better choice staying at Ft. Meade. The USNA FAMCAMP is the least favorite of all the ones we've stayed at. Very old and tired.
Seeing the young men and woman in their dress whites brought me a smile. Our son is a Navy MD. When he went to officer school in Norfolk, walking the town with him, seeing people salute him was surreal. We loved visiting Annapolis too, but that was without our son. Time to go back for another visit !
Hand Salute!!
How did you like Shields rv park? We haven’t stayed there yet. We were supposed to last year but some things came up to change our plans. Millington was nice park and Fairways was no frills but close to some fun places. I was stationed on cbc Port Hueneme for most of my career in the Navy Seabees.
We've liked all of them, some better than others.
Living here in MD I have been to the Naval Academy many times and it is a GREAT place for all of our out of town guests. Love watching all of your travels and have been following you since the start way back when. The question I have is you posted a VIDEO some time ago in ref to sites to see in AUSTIN and San Antonio.. I have looked for it and can not find it. I am planning a trip in late fall and wanted to follow your suggestions. When you can please send me to the link or where i can find it. Thank you as always and love your stuff.. JK
Try this: todayissomeday.net/blog/san-antonio-eat-like-a-local This has everything about SA, including the video.
My family has been Army all the way back to the Revolutionary War! However, I have to say, I love the Navy white uniforms, they are gorgeous!
Agreed! LOL
My brother James class of 86 and my uncle Edward 1946
I don't believe that Phil didn't want to go! He seems to be enjoying the visit!
There was ice cream! LOL
Wish I would have known you were in the area. We only live right on the other side of the Bay Bridge on Kent Island. You could have Moochdocked in my driveway with water, 30 amp. and sewer dump.
CouLd have took you CRUIZIN in my. 1940 Ford street rod.
That would have been sweet!
You’re probably long gone by now, but I live near Annapolis in Gambrills. Been following you for months, would love to shake your hand. Just minutes from ft. Meade and I have access.
Next time!
Next time.
Do you still have the web site where RVers could hook up with fellow RVers in there area? What was that?
It was RVillage and it has since shut down.
We just got our deer’s military I’d for Rick being a 100% disabled veteran so we can enter any base now
Did you need to make a reservation for the tour of the naval academy?
Not unless you want the guided tour.
If only Americans today had the same aspect/respect of what America should be like our founding fathers had....
👍🇺🇲
no no phil go ARMY beat navy ARMY won the last one just remember haha
annapolis oh unemployment lol is all i thought with that name
I Like sports, yet i feel the navy academy could use the funds to help homeless navy vets & their family's..but that's just my opinion 😊😊😊
Annapolis is the biggest joke out. Nothing to do and the people are so one-dimensional.
Come to West Virginia
You have to enjoy Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. And Charlestown West Virginia were John Brown was hanged.
