- Cheap and easy gothic accessories, and some deceptively simple clothing projects :) …I actually saw some heinously overpriced gothic clothing online last night, charging $330+ for jeans that could be bought and altered in a single afternoon for all of £25, so I think my next project will be upcycling and bastardising a couple of pairs of jeans - I've just gone Ebay crazy on spikes, studs and accessories, and will make a follow-up video if it goes well! (Update, mission completed - a second video with jeans etc is now here: • Video )
And if you want warmer stuff for winter, my previous gothy knitting video with fingerless gloves, batwing capes and sparkly black scarves is here: • Goth Knitting - DIY 'h...

I'm a goth mom with a goth teenager. I just make sure she meets the school dress code and doesn't go over board when visiting the grandparents. Otherwise, the sky is the limit. I love your eye makeup, btw.
OMG your a Goth mom hall ya
@@kallieself7079 yeah my mom is a goth mom
BEST MOM!
I hope to be a mom like you are
GOALLLLLSSSSSS :)
I found a pair of demonia creepers at a thrift store, with no tag or anything.. I asked the lady how much she wanted for them she shrugged and said "I dunno... $6?" SOLD.
ChelseaRae Weaver HOLY SHIT THAT’S LUCKY LOL
fuckin SOLD
wow so lucky wish i had luuck
emily mccallion mood
Ugh You're so lucky. The shit i find in the thrift store are crusty-ass sweaters and ceramic geese
I think Disney should model a character after them, like a cool, artsy aunt that the parents are slightly wary of.
OMFG YES
You are awesome.
I agree.
Indeed.
Awesome.
my parents can't argue about me doing this cause I know they were punk when they were teens
Oblivion Raiki lol same
Oblivion Raiki my mom actually dresses in all black for a while ;-;
Hah
@@dexterdacat5790 i always dress in black, i mean, sometimes red or white. Black, red, white are my favourite colors. Escpecially dark colors.
My dad was a hippie punk? Type thing? He kinda did whatever during the late teens. Before that he was a preppy kid🤢 I don’t dress goth all the time, because my parents are judgemental and I don’t own enough black clothing 😂
I am a parent of tweens and teen girls and I think the biggest mistake one can make as a parent is to hyperfocus on and try to control how our children dress. Outside of them dressing like a porn star, I don't care what they wear, so long as it's clean. I think when parents forbid their kids to wear certain things, forbid them from cutting, growing, shaving, dyeing, back-combing their hair, etc., you as a parent just make that clothing/hair choice more attractive to them and they're just going to rebel, sneak, or resent you.
My relationship with my kids is more important to me than pressuring them into dressing "normal."
I think we as parents have way more important things to worry about than how our kids are dressed.
that's how my parents are. There cool with me dying/cutting my hair and let me dress the way I want to and don't complain.
Hell, yes! Doing parenting right! There will always be battles with parents and kids, but it makes no sense to pick unnecessary battles...if you fight with them over unnecessary shit, they'll never trust you when they REALLY need your help. (not a parent, and never will be, but that's how I figure it - my mum always told me that she would be there for me whatever I did - if I got into drugs (oops...), even if I murdered someone, I could tell her, she would always be there...so, clothing, it was never fussed about. She only worries if I'm very scantily clad going out clubbing, and then her only fear is for my safety... Mumming right! :3 She's awesome...and it sounds like you are too!)
problem is my mum WAS Goth until 6 years ago when she stopped and she complains about it grrrr.... just makes me mad.....
huzzah! the comment chain lengthens!!!
I wish there were more parents like you.
For the tights I usually go to a halloween store right after halloween when they're trying to sell everything.
omfg

PRAISE THE NEW SIR OVERLOAD
omg i just bought some spider web earrings with spiders hanging for 2€ awesome and they were the last ones!
@Leland Brown I'm not really goth even tho very interested in the subculture ans style so what questions? Maybe I or someone else can answer you!
@Leland Brown from my understanding being goth is more than just a look, it's a community and it's also about values and even music so I would get to know more about that but I also think when it comes to values it's about acceptence and doing your thing so you can wear anything you want and leather, skirts, and black for themselves are already goth
Before there was halloween stores it was much harder.
dance supply mostly
Old school bra hooks work beautifully for chokers. They sew on in seconds and it gives more of a finished look...
Yes! I did this all the time, but if you hate bra hooks, it will make you start hating your chokers. I can't tell you how many times I've cut my choker off, after a long night of dancing, finagling with the stupid clasps and failing miserably!
napalm skies All you need to do is buy some lace or ribbon that you really like and pin it tightly in the back with a safety pin.
Great idea!
Velcro. Self-sticking velcro. Hack off a wee piece for either end and voila!
Ooh never though of that. Thank you. As I volunteer at 2 charity shops, I’ll now keep an eye out for old bras we can’t sell.
"You're not hurting anyone with your fucking clothes"
Yes. So much yes. Exactly. Thank you!
I came here for ideas for my gay goth son. I love him so much and it’s so much fun doing these diy things for his look. I do his makeup for him he’s getting better at doing it himself but when he wants to go somewhere special moms the mua . Thank you for all the ideas I’ll definitely be showing him this video and we will definitely be doing a few especially the tee shirt tricks with the paint and the leggings
You sound like a brilliant mum!
If you're in the US, it's easiest to get adhesive shelf liner to make the stencils. They stick without pins and I often find rolls in thrift stores.
You're such a great mum!!♡
I need you for a parent. I too am a gay goth (I am a dude but trans so biologically female) but my mum would never do this for me, she doesn’t really like the fact that I’m gay or trans so im happy that your son has a very supportive parent. ☺️
My dad isn’t really bothered about my style choices as long as he can show me how to fix an old car (The Ford Cortina is just *Chef’s Kiss* ) 😂
Yes I am a teen and a boy I do my own makeup and I'm just getting into goth so what if I'm judged for being gay as long as the person is happy that's the main thing I fully support you
"Buy it and dye it" my new motto! 😄
For my USA babybats, Target is great for DIY-able shirts and leggins. Plain black shirts, pants, jackets, shoes, jewlery, leggings, camis, bralettes, hoodies, sweaters. They are usually rather plain but have lots of potential and can be rather cheap.
A great way to get clean edges without excessive pinning is to (if you use a paint brush and fabric paint) aim your brushstrokes out and away from the edges.
thanks boo!!!
Very true! I found a really cute draped cardigan there.
Dollar tree sells black tights they would probably be awesome for “shirts” they are a little small though but is an option.
Tysm!
Brialliant. :-) I was "goth", when "goth" was "mod." I still dress from time to time, but I'm 53 and I have to go a bit easy now. But your description of the how to, takes me back to early 80s when we all had to make things ourselves. Before any Hot Topic thing. Even hammering our studs into belts. Ripping up fish nets for gloves....great memories. You have great ideas! :-) Where were you when I was young? lol Big hugs.
Lol, I was thinking the same thing. DIY .. The closest thing to a retail store we had was a fetish shop
Leslie Ann Gallagher ma’am you’re literally a pioneer i love you and thank you
right?
And the koolaid for hair dye. Goth was “punk” when I started into it.
Wow , those times
1. Give me your accent.
2. Give me your makeup.
3. You look like Nana the rocker from 'Nana'
4. OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH...this helps loads, Hot Topic is too expensive...
5. I hate how people keep saying "you're not goth, you don't dress like it..'
6. You're aweeesssoooommme (In a british accent)
+VaeSaoSmiles Hehe, thank you! I'm definitely gonna have to check out Nana, so many people have said I look like her, and the pictures I googled up were totally awesome - my brother's an anime person, I'll have to get him to find me it! :D
....I think netflix has it, at least...
And Kissanime, but as I remember that website doesn't always too much like working anywhere but America. But you can always try. And yea, Nana is the best.
+ofherbsandaltars Hey you're hot. Can you give me advice on drawing on eyebrows?
i love nana!!!!!
+ofherbsandaltars YOU REALLY DO LOOK LIKE NANA I loved that anime
"You're not hurting anyone with your fucking clothes"
my favourite part😍😍😄😄😄!
You have the gothic ethereal fairy creature look down pat; so pretty~ Also, I adore your voice. I shouted "I knew it!" when you mentioned that you were a singer, I got so excited.
Hehe, thank you! I don't class myself as much of a musician, but I suck marginally less than I did when I started out 4 or 5 years ago ;)
ofherbsandaltars Ha! All you can do is practice, practice, practice in the hopes of sucking less than you did yesterday! Isn't that what life is about?
I've thought about taking voice lessons recently as I'm a trans guy that has started testosterone and while I love my speaking voice now I've lost quite a bit of my singing rage which has been bumming me out. Not that I'm a "singer" or vocalist or anything of that nature but music has always been a form of therapy for me so my voice is very important to me. Maybe it's just a matter of saying goodbye to the old and embracing the new; oooor maybe I won't care anymore once my voice stops cracking every other sentence!😆
Kyoku Pendergast hn0
You're so likeable and sweet haha, I love that you get your mum to dye your clothes for you. Watching this is like watching a Goth version of Art Attack for little goth kiddies lol
10:10 you can get tights for $1 at the dollar tree (idk what that is in other countries or if they have them but if someone in America see's this I hope it helps)
Your eye makeup is fuckin amazing!
IKR!
the way she puts herself together is just gorgeous
It's a dream come true. O_O
Guys...Please don't put dye in your washing machines XD it gets bloody messy and it's hard to get off the cylinder so it'll half-dye the next washing load. You can put the dye in a bucket or tub of water and dump your clothes in there
Agreed, if you decide to dye clothing, follow the directions on the box...
All you have to do is run an empty load on hot with a cup of bleach and the machine will b clean enuff to run whites thru. I've been doing it for 40 years-no prob.
Even the Dylon brand that tells you to put it in a washing machine?
For washing clothes without the washing machine I usually just use the tub or a sink and use the water there.
I would soak the clothing,
dump a little bit of detergent or some kind of soap onto the clothes,
and then scrub the clothes with themselves.
Keep doing that whenever you feel it's clean (idk)
After that then you rinse out all the soap and squeeze the water out.
Squeeze out as much as you can and then let it air dry somewhere
And then it's clean now
There is dye extra for your washing machine, you run it empty after I believe
Living in a small city in Japan (AND being on a budget, AND being of a bigger size...) makes it difficult for me to find reasonable clothing to express my style (witchy, gothy, grungy, weird). So your video came as if sent from Merlin. Thank you SO MUCH. Really helpful
Your eye makeup is the best thing I've ever seen.
Hey, I've got some ideas for boots on a budget! Getting cheap and rather boring ones to decorate is a great idea, because it's so much less expensive. For example:
1. Get or make bootstraps with spikes or whatever you prefer. They're cheaper than shoes so you can buy a lot of different designs and match to your outfit!
2. Chokers can actually be put around boots to spoof them up.
3. Adding spikes, studs, fabrics, charms, laces etc. are all great.
The good thing with decorations that you can take on and off, is that it's basically like having a lot of shoes when in fact you just have one pair and a lot of decorations for them!
KreeZafi Love these ideas!
Clever! I might go to Primark one time and pick up a pair of boots for like £12 and buy some stuff to make myself some cute shoes. ☺️
On your first topic, it's especially stupid because some of us don't WANT to dress gothic all the time?? And that's fine??? Everyone has their own style, and no one should be mocked for that. I tend to sway back and forth, sometimes I dress really alternatively and gothic/emo, and other days I'm like, yeah, I want to dress girly and colorful today, and then other days I'm like, eh, jeans and a t shirt. I don't have any set look, and that's my business. Like damn...
Heh, interestingly I'm in the middle of editing a video on this very subject! Not everyone CAN dress goth all the time, and a lot of people don't even WANT to dress goth all the time - I'm one of them, frankly, I run my daytime errands looking like a homeless potato, and only dress up in the evening when I've got time to play around and have fun with it...I would hate for looking goth to become an obligatory morning chore, fuck that. I don't care who sees me in my baggy sweatpants and naked face while I'm at Tesco, I ain't dressing up for that nonsense! ;)
+ofherbsandaltars Exactly! Your style shouldn't become a chore or a burden, it should be fun. When I dress up, I have fun. When I don't, I'm fine with it! But if I feel obliged to do my makeup and put together a nice outfit, it literally exhausts me. Some people have the motivation to do it all day every day, and good for them. But those of us who don't, whatever.
Thank you both for saying this. I hate limiting myself, and I know who I am. Part of this subculture is expressing yourself and saying fuck it to the rules so it never made sense to me that it was so exclusionary and hostile, but out of respect I never called myself goth and felt very self conscious if I ever wore anything with because I didn't feel I'd earned it. I just admired the subculture from afar. But when I turned 30, I pretty much said fuck this, I'm done, life's too short. I've got an appointment later this month to chop my hair off and dye it indigo. I've started collecting pieces and sprinkling them into my wardrobe so the change won't be so extreme, but I'm ready to stop being afraid of being alternative, because that's who I am. 🖤 But that doesn't mean I won't dabble in other fashions and makeup styles. It just can't be this serious...
Thank you, everyone is always telling me I don't dress goth enough to be goth. I can't help it that it's taking time to build my wardrobe. I have a bad financial problem and can't afford clothes, I have to sell my existing clothing just to buy more.
@@chickennoodle316 imo. U dont have to dress goth to be goth. Period. To me being goth is what is on the inside and how you look at it. I'm goth. But I dont dress like it all the time. Mostly not at all exept in winter. To me goth is a way of expessing yourself. You can still be into everything else that Goths love. Ex: skulls, horror, darkness, etc. Its all how you want to express yourself imo
oh my goth, your accent is glorious! It sounds like a dark elf from skyrim.
Brooooo so true tho
Yes
I was trying to pinpoint what her voice sounded like-
She also has the elven look- big eyes, high cheekbones, defined jaw and chin
if your parents want you to buy "normal" clothes, it doesn't mean you necessarily have to wear them :P
+GothicAvonLady97 If that's the only clothing you own, you don't have much of a choice. Hence why gothic clothing diys with things you already own are helpful.
true
Without a doubt I believe that the most "goth" store is Ross XD it's a super cheap store here in the usa and more than half my closet is Ross. No one would even think of looking there until I once found some amazing $15 combat boots. I started going and I've found so many things. I'm actually going to make a video about it. I found a black and white stripped skirt and dress and a corset looking top and 2 long lace kimonos. I also found this crop too with these cute skeletons haha. There are actually a lot of things at like forever 21 too. I think band tees are some of the best things to buy and diy them or they look cool alone. I found so many cheap ones but at so many different stops. I once found these cool spiked combat boots at target too. You should just look everywhere!
You're awesome btw! I love your ideas!
Charlotte Grimm The holy trinity of cheap gothy finds... eBay, Ross and thrift stores.
+LadyMeilin Aww yeah, Ross is great.
+LadyMeilin ROSS??
RICK ROSS?????
(Please forgive my immaturity I'm kidding I really love goth clothing
Yas!! I found some chunky boots at Ross for about $20 (where the same looking boots at Fashion Nation were $100+). I also found a cute steampunk dragonfly broach at Michael's and put it onto a choker.
Halloween the best time to buy gothic stuff in normal everyday shops.
so true!!!
I hate it when I hear people say their parents called them sl*ts for dressing goth/punk or wearing fishnets or something
for me at least, when it comes to thiftstores, it's kind of hit or miss. I do a LOT of digging. A LOT. and most of the time, I find something I will eventually alter (I sew :3). but anywhere else, like what you said, I wait until stuff I like comes into fashion. It's annoying as hell because EVERYONE is goth for a few months every 4-5 years or so...but when it goes OUT of style, I STILL HAVE IT!!! >:DDD but yup, spray paint, safety pins, hell, even garments that AREN'T goth or black are okay.
something I learned being a poor, black goth-it's not WHAT you where, it's HOW you wear it :333
I don't think realize how charming of a goth youtuber you are XD
Zethany she's a lovely person but I think she's modest too so she'll probably refute this lol!
I've always loved goth styles but was not only shy about trying it, but was banned from it due to a controlling, religous parent who found it "demonic". I'm hoping next year to start buying a few pieces! Romantic goth (corsets, lace, dresses, etc.) is my favorite. 🖤
This kind of thing also works with bleach. Cool diy jeans for men could be as simple as slashing them or dying and bleaching them. Alternatively they could just wear skirts and dresses.
I must say, a lot of men look pretty good in long, drape-y, flowing skirts -- but who doesn't?
i live in the middle of no where and theres still lots of great gothy stuff in my local used stores. even seen lip service and hellbunny stuff in them. also you're make up is hella on point
more batcave
Same here, I got very interesting things where I live but also in the nearest big city. They have no brand most of the time but still, there are cool clothing!
+gothmoth She is make-up?
Your lucky...there must be a cool charitable older Goth in your town...i didn't have that in the small town I was stuck in
ReBella Pavel i think there is, makes me happy for sure
ouch though not having access would suck
awesome video, I wish there was something like this when I was younger and starting out goth. in fact, I don't believe there was even internet when I started lol! You addressed it perfect, clothes and style don't hurt anyone and we all left the house modestly and changed our clothes from a backpack once we were out lol! but as you said, it's important for younger people to not show insane amounts of flesh. I love making my own clothes. As for the safety pin thing, I think hashing things together often adds to the look, I'd choose a safety pin over a pristine zip any day. Gothic clothes are so damn expensive. this video could also help people like me, goth mums dressing on a serious budget. Much love xxx
College student here- no more backpack changing for me!
I'm so glad I found this! I used to dress very gothy in my late teens/early twenties, and I've been drawn back to it as of late because it was by far the most creative, fun and bold style I've ever had. I was CONSTANTLY cruising the thrift stores and craft stores for cheap stuff that I would then excitedly take home and alter. Goths who wear really expensive store-bought goth clothes always look really pristine and stunning, don't get me wrong, but to me there was always something way more bitchin about a DIY goth who had a whole lot of interesting, one of a kind little details strewn throughout their outfit. That kind of style requires real creativity, which you can't buy in a store.
I agree that Halloween is such a great time to get stuff, I used to go through the halloween clearance bins and get loads of fun false eyelashes, black nail polishes, scarves, socks, jewelry, for very cheap!
As a (slightly) older Goth I love listening to Teens and early Twentysomethings telling younger one how they are not Goth enough. I usually flounce over and smile and nicely tell these learned scholars that it's not the clothes that matter, it's the attitude and theirs is wrong!
You look fab, and your advice is quality!
i’m 5 years late but thank you!! goth will never die :]
Not late
I love your mom. She's very supportive... dying clothes for you... that's just wow.
Karmina Cuzon She's awesome - I actually think she would've been a bit of a goth if she was born later, I own a long black cloak she bought as a teenager and donated to me, she drives a very eccentric car, and she once did an Open University course in Death & Dying, so would sometimes tell me bedtime stories about terrible historic plagues, lol! There are a few holes in our relationship, but in general she's amazing :)
I love the dress and the tutu :D DIY forever! I also want to have a "goth enough" rant at some point, especially because of tumblr, omg the number of people who ask me things about "do I have to look just like everyone else" or "can I still like other things" or "can I still be goth if I can't afford to change my entire wardrobe" is getting ridiculous. I mean I know why they want to ask, it's because they get torn down by other goths (which I've experienced myself) and they just don't know that they're still allowed to like other stuff and they don't have to be some cookie cutter stereotype that only likes goth things and wears super expensive alternative clothing.
Wednesday Aleen Wow, that sounds maddening - definitely have a rant! I've got a lot of theories about why certain demographics tend to think this way, that I want to have a vague philosophical ramble about at some point, but at the heart of the matter, arghh, it's so ironic when it's supposed to be a subculture about being *different* and being *yourself*, and people get the whole other end of the stick and assume they have to stuff themselves into a tiny box and become a Goth By Numbers clone. Noooo!! D:
Wednesday Aleen I've got a similar problem - I live in the middle of nowhere, in a county of the UK that is also nowhere, and I've got the income of a church mouse, so most of my stuff is pretty basic- lots of stripes, pinstripes, and flat colours. Thanks for the advice!
+Sabby Whimsy exactly, why be different if you're just gonna conform in another way? It's so bloody annoying this happens in like all subculture fashion
There's this one goth UA-camr who actually became the "cookie cutter" goth and she hated it cuz she basically trapped herself instead of letting herself just enjoy life and try new things so I think it's really awful when people tear others down for not being "goth enough" cuz you could just easily trap yourself :/
YUS!!!
H&M keep coming out with "gothic" sort of clothing. It's not Primark cheap but it's not ridiculously expensive. A lot of it is basically Killstar inspired, but it's still pretty cute. ^_^
Dukkii Shay Thanks for the tip! I've not been to H&M in ages, I remember years back they were supposed to have a Girl With The Dragon Tattoo collection, and I got really excited, but my local branch didn't carry it and apparently everything sold out in 5 seconds flat anyway >_< ...but I'm planning to go hunting for jeans to mutilate tomorrow, so I might swing by H&M too, and see what I can find! :)
You're very welcome! :D I hope you find something!! Everything I've seen so far has been lovely, and you can always check their site. ^-^
The best part is that a ton of the „weird“ stuff will eventually end up in the sale section for super cheap 👍
I was surfing the net when I opened h&m's site and I found out that THEY ARE SELLING THE HALLOWEEN CLOTHING AND THE DRESSES ARE JUST SO AMAZING! THEY EVEN SELL CHOKERS AND ALL THESE KINDS OF STUFF **
I'm not goth, but my best friend is. her birthday is coming up, and I need a gift for her, and these are awesome tips (your makeup is wicked by the way)
Edit: Since posting this comment, I have realized I fall into the goth category and this has helped me start off with attire. Thank you so much
Just earned yourself a new sub for being awesome! I often go back and forth between wanting to be the ideal goth and fitting in with other "normal" styles, i found it hard to fit in to the gothic/punk community in my area just as much as me trying to fit into the everyday norm for 17 year old girls. Ive realised that no matter how i dress i wont fit in easily and thats purely there problem not mine, your videos are really helping me want to explore my darker side again! Thank You!
Fankyoo! :) And yeah, I've felt that occasionally with certain alternative nights I've been to - because the local club encompasses rock, metal, goth and more, and the nights there rotate, you get different crowds coming in, and sometimes they're really not My People...but hopefully, eventually you'll find the little subsection that are your people :)
yeah me and my best friend plan on going clubbing when we turn 18 this year ( we will try before that too!) and im just not sure of my self to feel comfortable around all these new people, i can handle creeps and pushy guys but judgemental stares from girls because we smoke or are on stuff worry's me a lot, i think once i figure out what style i love ill learn to just have fun and not give a fuck what people view me as!
Genius! Love the choker tips! I can never find a good choker that actually fits my neck. And the safety pin idea really does sound much more appealing than fiddling with the clasps and breaking my nails in the process. Yeesh.
+starsinshatters Yess! Safety pins are a lifesaver, particularly if you get home a bit drunk and there's no one to help you out of your choker, I can't believe we're living in 2015 and no one's made a necklace clasp that isn't fiddly as all hell yet!
This makes me so happy! Gonna sew some skully buttons on my shredded up cardigan this week, heheh!
"So I apologize if this video comes out super long"
Apologize?? I am SO damn glad you make such a cool, long, and well explained video. I'm totally trying everything you talked about :D
Something I recommend (specifically for kids) is Halloween costumes I make really cute goth fits with a ghost face costume for the skirt, you can also get striped leggings and gloves from other Halloween costumes too and so much more
"I've got some kind of horrible virus"
**chuckles in 2022**
I enjoy this creative fun side of your characteristic, you showed me you're never too old to be creative and fun and imaginative which sometimes life gets so suffocating that we may forget this. I was a bit harsh on the first video I saw of you but this video definitely changed my outlook a lot.
You are so pretty and I love your voice!!
Same
I bought cheap black shoes and just gothed em up with screw in studs and beads and metal chains
Its fun!
The charity and second hand shops in and around Camden Town, London are absolute heavenly gold mines for alternative clothes! Viva la Camden! 😊
I would love for you to make another episode like this, Dorian
I’ve been trying to dress goth since elementary school and I still don’t have the clothes I want so that sucks. I’m getting there though 😌
I'm a romantic goth leaning a bit towards victorian. Love black lace, velvet and sheer black tights! Never wear pants anymore it's all skirts and dresses yaay so comfy :D However black velvet is a bitch because lots of crap gets stuck in it. Crushed velvet isn't so bad but the steamed velvet drives me insane. I keep using a clothing roller on it but the shit keeps coming back! Any of you guys have a solution?
+tamousha wow love the goth-victorian style. really pretty but also really expencive.
+tamousha If you are talking about pet hair and really annoying shit like that, there is a anti static spray for clothing that kind of repels pet hair and random stuff thats kind of hard to get off clothing. Well, im not saying it repels it but makes it harder for it to stick to clothing. I believe it can be used for the interior of cars too
+crypandora66 what is that product called bc I have a white dog and black clothes are terrible around him lol
+crypandora66 wow you're freaking awesome, never forget 😄
Adriana Laufeyson Fer sure ^.^
I go to Joanns and it's amazing for those in the US, they have amazing fabric and sooo many good coupons!!
Yes! Also, if you're close to a Walmart, they usually have a decent sewing dept. Look for grommets, eyelets, (just make sure you have a hammer and the tools to install them), studs, buttons, lace, fabric scraps, fluff, etc. If you aren't near anything, amazon.com is a great option for everyone. 100 studs for under $5 www.amazon.com/Mini-Factory-Nailhead-Silver-Pyramid-Leathercraft/dp/B0129IQ36U/ref=sr_1_11?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1465679326&sr=1-11&keywords=studs+and+spikes
Goths with coupons... hell yeah! It's never uncool to save money! Cha-ching!
Even if Walmart doesn't have it, they have site-to-store
This video is my life. I don't live in Germany, the US or the UK so I don't live where there are major gothic outlets which can sell affordable goth styles. Our local goth stores charge a lung for tiny sized clothes that frankly are almost pathetic quality compared to major commercial stores. I'm also a UK size 16 and so many outlets don't carry my size. I just mix and match everything I own. I love this video. :) I hate how people judge others for their "ungothiness" if you don't look the part or if you can't afford to. Totally not cool, the subculture of alternatives and the outsiders becomes even worse than the people they got away from. (not for everyone of course)
There's a german online shop called EMP. They sell gothic clothes, band merch, CD's , tickets etc. AND they ship worldwide!
Lovemuffin aka Torosaurus thank you, I'll check it out! :) I've bought some stuff from Germany and it was sort of okay shipping, I don't mind the time it takes cause everything takes a month to arrive from any country.
At the thrift store around here, you can occasionally find some nice black/goth evening gowns. They are actually kinda pretty. That's where I got like the only formal dress/gown I own. Lol!
As an Elder... We did all of these things before the internet and shopping mall goths, I think the only "new" things I ever bought were make up,dye, tights and boots.
Absolutely love the craft stores so many things you can use, could get lost in those stores for hours. It's a shame that some call out others that in their opinion are not dressed goth enough. It is hard enough with others putting us down to do the same with our spooky selves. Going to have to try that t-shirt spray painting idea thanks sharing some of your DIY's.
Literally the whole video I was starting at your eye makeup. It's gorgeous~ :3 XD
...for myself as a crossdresser I find the gothic style is fab, you don't need loads of money just by black cheap clothes and rip to shreds and play/experiment as you've proven on your show is a wonderful hobby! Just like to add take a visit to Whitby for gothic festivals saw a lady in her 70's all dressed up she looked amazing just proves there's no age limit! Best wishes 👌💜🦇
i went into a berlin gothic store, the lady in the store was talking down to me the entire time, she was just so condesenting.
i feel like the reason was cuz im form denmark and cuz i wasnt looking that gothic tyhat day, sad bois
so im 13 (which means im poor asf lol)- and i went to a thrift store today and found a pair of black platform shoes they looked new and shiny so i asked the lady how much they cost and she said its 7 euros??? anyways theyre not demonias btw but theyre so cute with leg warmers and ripped stockings :))

*I am old, 53, and I turn my flowers into sad or scary ones so that I look like a badass old lady!* 🤗
As an extremely poor person who is gothically inclined, I really appreciate this video. Most DIY vids I've seen are not poor people friendly. Thanks for being awesome!
U inspired TF outta me
I love how enthusiastic and exited you were when you talked about all the awesome stuff there is to do! I love your videos :)
"Your parents will shit"
this literally was the cutest thing omg
I watched a tiktok of a goth expressing that you can't really be goth if you don't dress goth and it really upset me becuase of how expensive goth clothing/brands is. Even 4 yrs later this video is really relevant and helpful 🖤
Sticky-outtie-ness... Hahaha I love it.
Never put dying clothes in the washing machine. All the paint chemicals can damage your washing machine. I'm an artist, I've dyed clothes before. It's best to put it in warm/hot water in a bucket, add your color & stir it for about an hour or two. Keep checking if it turns into the right color and your done. Just helping out not insulting anyone. good luck :)
Kyoko Rit dye is made for the washing machine. I've never had any issues with it dying the machine or anything else. Obviously if the directions say to do it in a bucket or on the stove, do that, but there are dyes specifically made to be used in a washing machine.
The Rona!
I trimmed my entire bedroom in fluff when I was younger.. It was awesome!
I like finding clothes that fit nicely and just dying them black too. It also makes things look brand new
I am not a creative person and doing DIY stuff would annoy me. But this video made we want to try anyway :)
Right after Halloween go crazy with the clearance section. I got a a bunch of cute t shirt for like 2 dollars each.
Your make-up is super. Great ideas, so creative, Thanks for the suggestions
As someone who lives in the middle of nowhere with old people I still find a bunch of cool stuff and stuff I can diy
your accent is absolutely perfect, im so jealous
I love your eyeshadow wings~! 😍
I love it when you get excited talking about the stuff you made
Love this! I've been modifying clothes and sewing for years, and it's great to get inspired! Thanks for sharing your ideas
Your makeup is goals
this is awesome, I lost a lot of weight and I'm needing a new wardrobe. but I am not able to dress goth very often. I have two jobs and one would freak out if I did. I do have galaxy hair and wear heavy eyeliner all the time but I can't actually dress it.
Its so cute how passionate you spoke about the items you got from the craft store
Thank you for mentioning the snobbery in the Goth culture! I love too many styles, textures and colors to pick one! I have tried! I always found the snobby attitude in goths to be just like preps from high school! The very people that judged goths and other alternatives! And I agree, the thrift stores in my area aren't good anymore for goth!
omg you are so GORGEOUS! I hope I'll develop the awesome makeup skills you have ❤
For boots, go to a military surplus store and get a pair of cheap combat boots, easily affordable and for the most part already broken in! Demonia, New Rocks etc are nice but too expensive for what they are.
The sleeves and pantyhose advice is genius, GENIUS! Thank you!
This was the first video I ever came across of you I think a year or 2 has since past and I'm am honestly so thankful for your relatable content and just overall thankful for you sharing your life it really helped me
So I've never really been into alt fashion until quite recently, but today I trimmed down some old shirts I got from savers that I didn't like because they were too long. I put one of my DIY crop topsthem on, and I was absolutely ecstatic. So I'm looking into goth/emo/alt fashion and giving it a try!
(I'm only 14, so I don't have a ton of resources, but I'm asking my mom if we can go to savers soon so I can revamp my wardrobe)
Love that skirt! Gorgeous!
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!! Crafting is so rewarding and fulfilling. I could live off this feeling. This gives me the will to live, I'm not even exaggerating. This kind of tutorial can pull someone out of depression. Thank you Dorian
You remind me of a crow, the way you talk about shiny things. I love it. XD
XD I'm more of a scene kid but the whole fact about parents not approving of emo/goth clothing is so true.
usually I save up my money so I can go to hot topic. usually I go with my friends so my parents have no choice but to except what I got XD
yeah same, my mom keeps calling me a "sad emo kid" which is strange cause im happy but I just like staying in my room cause people suck and im struggling with my appearance and depression. and I dont call myself emo, im more in between goth and emo
+Jacob Layne lol
Jacob Layne Emo is middle class white kids trying to piss off their parents by being "edgy."
Cici Davis Not neccissarily, my parents are fine with the way I dress and I've got a casualy goth style.
Tabby Gray Im like an emo, punk, post-hardcore person, who dresses a bit goth. And my mom is Christian, and live in a minority Catholic neighborhood. Must i say how hard it is to find clothes
I’m not goth, I am alternative. I looove the gothic style but don’t listen to goth music much at all and wouldn’t necessarily go all goth most days. I’m getting extremely into an alternative/kink style more and more! I feel goth is somewhat like it. So I take some notes from the goth community!!
listening to ambient NIN, and watching this channel is pretty amazing. also, the authenticity of everything she talks about, so honest. i am not that brave!!! thank you
I’m finding this video years later, but spray painting clothes sounds like an amazing way to dye.
OMG I WAS WATCHING THIS WITH CC AND WHEN I TURNED ON THE SOUND AND HEARD YOUR VOICE U WAS LIKE holy crap your voice is awesome and as I am making this comment I am reading it in your voice c:
+ohyeaawesomevideos Hehe, thank you! The subtitles option is so hilarious, it seems to get everything wrong when I try it - the best thing is my songs, because they start with talking, the subtitles turn on, but then they try to put words to every guitar note I hit, it's utterly ridiculous! XD
XD c: can't blame you captions are never right
