You'll need a T-20 screwdriver, Phillips and flathead screwdriver. Let me know if you have any questions in the section below. - Навчання та стиль
Thanks so much for this and the follow-up video on how to put my vacuum back together! Super easy to follow.
Cleared a clog and saved a $70 service fee! Thank you so much!
Had sent my Kirby to a repair shop in Belgium. They sent it back, and it worked for exactly 5 times and then it started to make a lot of noise and started smoking and smelled completely burned. Sent it back to the company, took weeks to get an answer back , and finally after phone calls and mails back and forth they told me they couldn't fix it. And that for a repair shop that say they completely refurbish Kirby vacuums. Not all what shines turns out to be gold. No bad words on the performance of the vacuum while it worked though, cleans like a pro ...
Very helpful, Andy. I've watched this now half a doz times! Thanks
thanks for the video.i wasny afraid to fix the vacuum but having the video for reference is great.ill tell you what these are well made vacuum.when you take one apart you can really appreciate the quality of these machines
Except The Plastic Fan !!
Sweet! Got two Sentrias that work well on EBay, but id like to eventually take them apart and clean them really well!
Excellent Video! If anyone has issues with the spindle, watch his reassembly video.
NICE! you saved me hundreds of dollars with this video. THANK YOU!!!!!
thank you for helping me change the fan motor. I got a price of 349.99 to fix. it cost me 10.00 to fix it myself with my husbands help. thank you very much.
A great video. Could not get the fan separated from the shaft using the method shown. I inserted a suitable drift punch in the hole, and gave it a tap with a small hammer.
thank you for this video! had to get the drive shift toggle back on and this was great!
No1GreyGhost I also had the shaft pull out for the drive toggle. I used some adhesive to keep it in place because the friction fit was not strong enough anymore.
Great demo! Thanks
My Kirby just ground down and stopped. I haven't found a fuse internal, so I'm thinking shaft sized, do you agree? thanks!
Very useful, had a bearing burn up and couldn't figure out how to get to it before.
Great clear video and detailed instructions! 5 stars ***** :-) Thanks
is there a bearing or bushing on front of shaft that can be replaced. My shaft seems loose and motor very noisy. Have replaced fan or impeller but shaft seems to be the problem
Thaks for the video Andrew!
Great video very helpful
Having a problem removing the Belt shaft as it is rusted and turning it clockwise it won't loosen. Have sprayed with WD-40, but no luck. Any ideas on how to remove it?
I have a G3 and I'm sure this would work....there is a screw that is an SOB to undo and I think I need a power drill to get it off. My vacuum picked up something metal and it seized up as the vacuum started smoking. I shut it off and wanted to look inside to see what it was.
is there any video how to fix the headlight led they dont work tnx
Great territorial, thanks so much
Great video thank you
Why would the fan impeller unscrew while running?
I had the problem of spinning the impeller off, until I noticed on the back of the armature,by the transmission drive pulley, there is a spot for a wrench to hold the shaft securely.good video!
nice job!
Also does the motor turn when hood and roller assembly are off unit?
Hey thanks for this BUT I need to know what position the actual metal belt lifter/release&grab needs to be set at…for some reason that plastic junk *Belt Lifter has NOT been staying locked/holding belt so I took that plastic piece &the metal interior actual grabber OFF figuring I need to reset&tighten down. Unfortunately My brain is not very technical and I can’t seem to grasp what position I should screw it all in so it works….. To me it seems like the metal grabber is backwards….if I turn counter it grabs and clockwise it releases….. HELP please:)
My N and D switch fell of the back and this didn't really show me how to get into that part of the Kirby.
This is a really good video. I'm having trouble removing the belt shaft in front of the fan. Previous owner abused this G4 by vacuuming something liquid and the belt shaft is seized onto the motor shaft. I've tried dripping a little solvent between the fan & belt shaft and holding the motor shaft with a wrench. It won't budge. Any suggestions?
+Richard Conroy If you're swapping the fan, remember that those threads are right-handed threads. So the belt shaft would have to go clockwise to come off.
I took off the knobb. How can i put it back on. Huge mistake!
Thanks for this useful video.
For a £1000 Hoover least Kirby could do is make the Fan from Metal instead of Stupid Plastic that often breaks or cracks easily.
I realize your comment is two years old but the door to door salesmen (2) kept averting the answer of fan material. My fan is fine, but I knew they were avoiding answering directly. Because, REALLY?! For a possibly $1 extra manufacturing cost for a metal fan vs a plastic one, for a $2500 machine?! Buyers would turn their noses up for an extra $10 charge for a metal fan vs plastic? I think not. For what, a lb lighter and no idiot loses a finger by sticking their bits into spinning fans? Otoh, this Could be a heat generating issue or some mechanical issue... But still. Thank you for your comment.
Exactly Treeva, Bought my G4 Kirby around 20 something years ago and paid £1500 for it and hoovered my small flat once a week and after just 2 years the fan actually cracked and it stopped working. I kept thinking why would a company like Kirby who's salesmen advertise how high grade the material is made out of would make a fan out of Plastic and not Metal?
I mean even if the heat generation would be the issue, why wouldn't they at least make it out a much better quality plastic that would not go out of shape or brake after just 2 years of light usage? Anyhow thanks again for the tutorial and your reply (Even though is 2 years later (Lol) Still is appreciated.
Great up until about 6:20 when some steps were not clear - could have used more dialog at the end - the end seems to have been rushed. I want to replace the brushes - nothing said about them.
I need to replace the brushes in my G7D also. Have you found a place that explains this procedure?
thaks for the video andrew 1 questions ineed to disarmed completely the vacuum for change the fans o you disarmed complete for maintenance let me now thank you
If I understand you correctly. You don't need to take the vacuum apart completely just to change the fan. You can just take it apart until you reach the fan.
Thanks!
A ok thank you
I have a G3. At about 2:40 you remove the spindle which appears to be a left hand thread. In my case, the impellor spins on the spindle and I cannot separate the two. Any suggestions before I break out the plastic impellor to gain access to the backend of the spindle so I can break the threads loose?
*****************************************************
OK....never mind. The shaft has an 11/32" flat just forward of the driven pulley underneath the handle assembly. That allowed me to hold the shaft properly to remove the left threaded spindle.
BTW...a mistake I made watching your video was to assume the spindle groove in the spindle (immediately behind the hole you used to hold the spindle) was where the threads separated. Once I figured out that was not the case, then located the flats, the removal was as simple as it appeared in your video.
Thanks
Thanks so much for the awesome video. It made it so much easier for me!
Question...how tight should the interior small belt be? Mine turns the wheels but is loose.
Looking forward to watching how to put it all back together again:)
The toothed belt is not adjustable between the motor and Tech drive. There's always slack and generally the belt does not stretch, it is what it is. As long as the tech drive screws that secure the unit to the main casting are not loose it should be fine as long as the foot selector works between neutral and drive.
I have an issue with my Kirby where I can't use it on carpet anymore because the brush stops spinning and the rubber belt starts smelling like burning rubber.
I can't seem to find any information that agrees as far as the type of filters these vacuums have . I saw one place that said the sentria model has a screen filter that needs to be change once a year. But then when I look for information on where to find the filter I get nothing. Can someone help me with thus. I have a sentria model and I have found everything else except info on a filter either screen or foam.
My user manual is packed (by accident) by I'm fairly certain the user manual has the type of needed and where to purchase?
Thank you
did I miss how tp remove the inner bag hose?
Can you dismantle the turbo brush too?
You mean the zippbrush?
That is like the most simple thing on a Kirby to disassemble how can you not figure that out yourself
Nice music totally enjoyed. Semi late 70s? What the name
Can you order parts
thanks
Sentria not like this in rear disassebly
I have this piece that doesn't fit anywhere
I have a Sentria
thanks for your video!it worked great to get my g10 apart and back to gether again. I found the best source of parts was at USAvacuum.com- good parts breakdown, great prices and inexpensive shipping.
Kirby Rules, I have a Sentria, The ultimate Sucker, Shampooer is of quintessential importance. Happy carpet.
FYI I paid $1,600 for mine. Yes I got ripped off. The salesman said lifetime warranty any problems Kirby will replace or repair it. A big fat lie. Also only $1,200 on Amazon. Filing a complaint with the Attorney General office. Also it will cost $190 to rebuild, must pay $100 each way for delivery and yes... it will take 90 fucking days. What a fucking ripoff. My $250 Panasonic not a single problem.
Problems after problems after problems now it won't turn on. Yes I finally got it to turn on after pushing the power switch a couple of times today. A piece of shit. I could have bought 8 $250 Panasonics already and nothing single problem.
Stay away from the Kirby scams. They're in Ohio.
