What move did Petrosian put in that envelope? Will Fischer take that pawn?? Join us on the next edition of PowerPlayChess!

Fischer showed his class of chess and ingenious in a strategic, positional , closed game against master of closed, positional GM, Former world champion, Petrosian.

Interesting idea to split the game pre and post interval. Possibly a way forward to tell some of the longer yet still interesting games?
    Look forward to part 2.

How nice to hear you mention Yuri Averbach. I visited him in his flat in Moscow in 1994 or so. I have a lot of chess books. He had a larger number of books he'd written! We played some games, ending one with YA as W having 2Ns and 3Ps and me (B) having 2Ns and 2Ps. He won! Wonderful wise gentleman.

I played him in NY in 1990. Afterwards he said that the last time he played the opening variation was in 1963 - the year I was born...

Would be nice if you could go through that Petrosian v Korchnoi 1971 Game 9. It was given in a book by C.H.O.'D. Alexander, 'The Game of Chess' that I used to have years ago!

Fischer hingegen erschien in vortrefflicher Verfassung.....

Fine said Petrosian was playing for adjournment so his seconds could bail him out. Fischers second, Larry Evans had gone home complaining he had nothing to do.

It´s interesting to hear you say that "Fischer liked space". I saw a lecture by Jesse Kraai some time ago that argues pretty much the opposite ua-cam.com/video/Qxsgy6dsZjE/v-deo.html
And incidentally, he analyzes this very game!
For me as a spectator, getting different opinions on the same subject like this is fascinating!
