It never ceases to amaze me how many of these Prisoner actors and crew members are still alive (being in their 70s, 80s, and even 90s!) and still looking quite good for their ages. Just goes to show Wentworth (2013) was rather a mistake. I loved the show for what it was and perhaps one of the better reboots I've seen with good casting, but they really should have done a sequel series. I could see many of these actors reprise their roles or new ones for the ones who were killed off in Prisoner and some of the same crew members (producers, directors, writers, and editors) being involved who were interviewed here. What a missed opportunity. Probably too late to even do that now, but a dozen years ago would have been excellent timing. That's when I was binge watching the original series from 2011-14 after my mother introduced it to me when buying a DVD boxset of select episodes. I'm hoping for an interview with perhaps the oldest surviving cast member still with us, Patsy King. I learned Mary Ward (Mum Brooks) died in 2021 at age 106! What a joy if you guys were able to interview her before her death. But geez, these Australian folks are sure living some lengthy years here.
We had arranged to visit Mary Ward but unfortunately she passed away before we could. Who would you have liked to see in Wentworth that appeared in Prisoner ?
@@TalkingPrisoner Oh wow, so you guys did arrange to meet with her. The timing of her death was just unfortunate. What a bust. I would have liked to see a ton of people from Prisoner in Wentworth, particularly our regulars. The fact we only saw TWO original cast members, Sigrid Thornton (Ros Coulson) and the woman who played Sonia Stevens (who Sigrid played in the newer show ironically) only appeared is just ridiculous. Maybe they thought it would be too distracting to flood the show with Prisoner actors and may take away Wentworth's own identity, but they could have been small roles. But I still would have liked if they did a sequel series just so we had updates of all the surviving Prisoner characters and with the original writing and production team involved. I'm looking at clips from that one show "All Saints" which had some Prisoner cast members on there reunited (Judith McGrath, Maggie Kirkpatrick, and Elspeth) and I'm sitting here thinking, imaging if this was a PRISONER sequel series. I imagined them being those characters and what we could have had if things went in that direction. Pity. Speaking of Elspeth, have you guys tried getting her or is she hard to get to talk about this show seeing her lack of interviews and conventions appearances which seem to be slim to non-existent. The woman just seems to want to do away with her Prisoner time altogether and that's a shame because she was the only cast member there from beginning to end. I would LOVE to see her in depth talk about the show.
I did the Australian tour of Gypsy with Nell in 1975-76 and I can see her in my memory as clear as day, arriving and leaving the theatre, dressed like a real star, head high, seemingly 7' tall.. oozing glamour. We got on very, very well and she was one of my go-to people for a chat and coffee. She was a fabulous Tessie Turra. How wonderful to see and hear her here. Thankfully we're still in touch.
What a great interview. Nell is such a likeable person, who couldn't be more different to Sarah Higgins, and a total joy to listen to. As many have said, Sarah was a fantastic character with massive potential. I've always liked her and been curious about the actress behind her so huge thank you to all of you for this.
These just keep getting better and better. What a lovely lady she appears, so sweet and happy.....I agree, I think Higgins should have been in the show for longer.....she could have done so much more with that character....such a great performance in that role.
Excellent interview. Sarah Higgins is definitely up there with the top characters. Would love to see Lesley baker in the hot seat. Monnie was a great laugh as the husband basher and wannabe top dog 👊
Brilliant actress and such a wonderful interview . What a delight hearing about Nell’ journey through the acting world and hopefully we’ll see more of her in the future.
Would love to see an interview with Jayne Healey who played Barbie Cox,Another great Interview Matt and Tim.Yes its a shame that Sarah Higgins was not in PCBH for longer.
Interesting interview. I remember her as the VJ (visiting justice) and briefly as a prisoner.... the main thing I recall is that she never had any facial expression at all....
This is another superb interview guys. I thought Nell's portrayal of Sarah Higgins was quite hypnotic, you just couldn't help but be instantly entranced by her icey presence: the set practically grew icicles when she was on screen! I don't know how Nell did it, but I actually felt quite sorry for poor Sarah in the end. She powerfully portrayed a detached survivor, but with her need for power being her ultimate downfall. Another totally fascinating Prisoner character played to perfection. I agree she was written out too quickly, but l understand why they had to do it now. I picked up on Nell mentioning her appearance in the stage show, Gypsy. In the UK, this was a hugely successful show in the early 80s, and the lead role was played by Noele Gordon - an actress who was incredibly popular in a British soap opera called Crossroads - which was created by, noneother than, Mr Reg Watson ! Keep up the great work! 👍.... oh. And Tina Bursill... We need to see Tina ! 😂
Great to see Nell. Wish she had spoken of her time dancing at the Lido Theatre Restaurant in Melbourne, Nell was Miss Lido. Beautiful shows, the Lido was a great place.
Such a amazing interview I loved her character, she was such a delight to watch , such a shame she left wish she would of stayed longer thank you for another classic interview 🫶🏻❤️
Ken is no longer part of the show. He left to do other things that I read about, like he really needs to be doing that at his old age. He ought to stick with this podcast thing and be settled with this. -_-
Yes, would love to have seen her caught in the act of taking a bribe. In reality as a judge she would never have beenn placed in general population, she would have been killed day 1. They could have kept her in protection for a period of time.
“Sarah the Scarer” lol great interview about a complex character who ended up on the wrong side of the justice system. I remember her being quite stern and vicious. Lewis 🎉🎉🎉
I loved her character. Great actress

One of my favourite characters in the show. Sarah Higgins had a sort of "ice queen" presence on the show which I thought was fantastic.
The Original Ice Queen
What a lovely lady , i think she played Sarah brilliantly . Such a pity she was only in Prisoner for a brief time .

Thank you for your kind words. It was so cool to learn about her life and time on Prisoner.
What an absolute lady! I love her so much. Great interview guys xx
Thank you.. Did you enjoy the character Sarah Higgins ?
@@TalkingPrisoner Yes, I did. I would have liked for her character to be in it longer though, maybe doing deals with Joan Ferguson etc
Awesome

Agreed. Thought Monnie was a hoot and a far more fun deputy than Judy.
Would love to speak to Lesley Baker.
Yes I will get into this one after I have woke up. Can't wait bloody ripper 😁
What did you think ?
Wonderful job! Such a pleasant surprise
Brilliant actress and such a wonderful interview . What a delight hearing about Nell’ journey through the acting world and hopefully we’ll see more of her in the future.
It was amazing to speak to Nell after all this time...Did you enjoy her character ?
Would love to see an interview with Jayne Healey who played Barbie Cox,Another great Interview Matt and Tim.Yes its a shame that Sarah Higgins was not in PCBH for longer.
Thank you so much for your kind words...I agree, it would have been amazing to see her become a short term top dog.
Interesting interview. I remember her as the VJ (visiting justice) and briefly as a prisoner.... the main thing I recall is that she never had any facial expression at all....
It was amazing how Nell could portray this character through her face.

Its funny you say how you felt sorry for her, i also felt the same about Joan Ferguson.
Yay! I got a question asked. Thanks guys!❤❤
Anytime :-)
She used to be my housemate many years ago....ex wife of the legendary Bill Hunter....
Great to see Nell. Wish she had spoken of her time dancing at the Lido Theatre Restaurant in Melbourne, Nell was Miss Lido.
Beautiful shows, the Lido was a great place.
I agree with Nell that she acted brilliantly with her eyes and the silences used to maximum effect.
You could tell everything by her eyes.
What a brilliant interview. She is a joy to watch and listen too. Makes me want to find some of her other acting credits. ❤
I would love to see some of her other work.
Phenomenal brilliant Outstanding actress 🖐🏾
We agree
Thank you guys for another great interview and my appreciation for reading out my little comment to this beautiful sweetheart. Bloody ripper 😁

I hope Ken's okay! Looking forward to more videos whenever they're available.

Ken is well...
She was instantly someone you would always remember in the show
“I would like some food…
I would like some food now”
Nell had some amazing lines...
and all delivered superbly
Nell yoh are great onward and upwards
Nell is Amazing.
Higgins should have been it prisoner for a much longer time ❤
I have said it a few times now, it would have been fantastic.
Yes, would love to have seen her caught in the act of taking a bribe.

Would you have liked to have seen her stay longer in the show ?
Loved her character and met a grizzly end, shame she was not in it more
I agree, I would have loved for her to stay longer.
Shes sounds by her accent from UK
I think it's posh Australian rather than UK. I'm from the UK myself.
Will you be uploading new videos. 🤞
Yes... I have had some projects i have been working on behind the scenes and will be starting back up again.
@@TalkingPrisoner fantastic news
Where has the prisoner producer that looks like a really lovely grandpa gone ?
You may be talking about my ex co host Ken, He has retired now...
@@TalkingPrisoner that’s it Ken. He was a camera man on prisoner I think not a producer. Bless him.
I wouldnt have recognised her, i dont think, at least though she seems a lot nicer in real life than her Prisoner character lol
That wouldn't be difficult! She was already about 40 in the show, so about 80 now.
That means she played the character very well.
Excellent, just excellent!
Thank you sir.
