  • This is an unbelievably simply, quick, and INCREDIBLE tasting beef jerky!
    I do it on my Camp Chef Pellet Grill, but I'm sure it can be done on any good smoker.
    Good luck and ENJOY!!!!

    I’m picking up my camp chef on Sunday. My wife bought it for me for my birthday, this is one of the first things I want to smoke on it! Thank you for teaching us how to make jerky..

    I immediately recognized you from the Helix User Group (the long named one lol) on FB. Thanks for the tips! I'm making jerky this afternoon and I'm planning on using my Camp Chef which I believe is the same model you have. Thanks again!

    Where did you get the trays? I'm thinking about getting the camp chef soon. I make a lot of deer jerky and like how you did it with the trays.

      campdude66 It's the "Jerky Rack" add on from Camp Chef. It's a great unit!

    What kind of fresh ground pepper grinder is that that you are using with the handle on top? I need one of those buggers! Forget twisting that peppercorn all day irritating my carpel tunnel.

    Did you smoke the bacon at the same time to add flavor to the jerky or just to have some bacon?

    You mention that you can save money by piecing the smoker together? We're about to buy one, but wouldn't mind saving some money. Can you explain a little more about how to do that? Thanks for the video, I plan to make a lot of jerky!

    Thanks for the video. I see that you didn't use a cure, so do you have to keep the jerky in the refrigerator? Thanks again.

      That's a great question. It's never lasted longer than 2 days. I don't keep it in the fridge. I guess I'm not sure if you planned to keep it long term if you'd have to keep it in the fridge or not. :)

    What is the reason for the bacon? Add flavor or just something else good to eat

    • @christaggart2084
      @christaggart2084  5 років тому

      Why not bacon? :)
      No reason, it just tastes good on the smoker. :)

    I heard you used a slicer. Do you slice it when still partially frozen to make it easier?

      You will wreck your electric slicer cutting raw meat, use a knife

    Have you ever used low smoke for the process? Or do you start with that and then go to 170? Thanks for any info

      I did. I think it leaves that Creosote residue on it though.

      @@christaggart2084 Traeger says start with lid open, but for me Rec Teq Customer Service told me don't bother. Just hit the switch and go. I leave the lid open just to let that first puff of ashes blow away, don't want 'em on the food.

    Waste of time! Temp on smoker? Time? 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @christaggart2084
      @christaggart2084  5 років тому

      What's a waste of time??? Sorry, you're obviously new. Temp and time will depend on your smoker.
      I put mine at lowest temp and usually for 3-4 hours. I rotate my trays to get even cooking, your smoker may be different.
