The problem isnt the Megachurch. The Megachurch is just a building that houses lots of people. The problem is and always has been, the people. The Pastors! The Leaders. The problem is the teaching, false teaching, selective scripture manipulation! The saints not studying to show themselves approved/studying to learn for their own edification. We’ve got liars in the pulpit and lay members who keep them there.

I have a video on my channel on the decline of church attendance in America. The decline is because some Pastors are not preaching Christ centered messages. We have to go back and preach Jesus.

I live in Dallas, Tx. And theres an area full of at least 7 mega churches and the neighborhood is so impoverished. Christ didnt call us to build large buildings. In scripture it all started in the home.

No, I think he is saying that the Black Mega Church needs to go back to the 1920 -70's, when church & black community worked together as one, where the church promoted the Black Wall Street, when we owned our own businesses, hospitals, educated our own children, respected our Elders, created something for the next generation. My parents had a 5th grade education, after that, they had to work the farm, but all of us, my siblings have Bachelors, Masters or Trade education beyond High School, Property owners etc. So what he is saying is NO more talk about when I get to heaven, But to bring HEAVEN to EARTH, that's what he is saying...

Janet Burrus no disrespect to you but this is the history of tithes. It’s important to dig deeper into the word and RESEARCH than listening to what the Pastor say. The church and Pastors have misquoted and misinterpreted that scripture for monetary gain and to keep people into bondage believing that LIE we must give 10% of money to the church. Tithe was not money back then. It was a a law. 10% was produce and animal. If you look at the scripture you quoted in verse 10, it says bring tithes in the storehouse so that there may be MEAT in mine house. Where do that say MONEY. The first tithe was giving of one tenth of agricultural produce to the Levite or the priest.
On years one, two, four and five of the Shemittah-cycle, God commanded the Children of Israel to take a second tithe that was to be brought to the place of the Temple (Deuteronomy 14:23). The owner of the produce was to separate and bring 1/10 of his finished produce to the Old City of Jerusalem after separating Terumah and the first tithe, but if the family lived too far from Jerusalem, the tithe could be redeemed upon coins (Deuteronomy 14:24-25). Then, the Bible required the owner of the redeemed coins to spend the tithe "to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish" (Deuteronomy 14:26). the commandment was an obligation to spend the coins on items meant for human consumption.
In years three and six of the Shemittah-cycle the Israelites set aside the (second) tithe instead as the poor tithe, and it was given to the strangers, orphans, and widows.
The Levites, also known as the Tribe of Levi. They were assistants to the Aaronic priests (who were the children of Aaron and, therefore, a subset of the Tribe of Levi) and did not own or inherit a territorial patrimony (Numbers 18:21-28). Their function in society was that of temple functionaries, teachers and trusted civil servants who supervised the weights and scales and witnessed agreements. The goods donated from the other Israeli tribes were their source of sustenance. They received from "all Israel" a tithe of food or livestock for support, and in turn would set aside a tenth portion of that tithe for the Aaronic priests.
An additional tithe mentioned in the Book of Leviticus (27:32-33) is the cattle tithe, which is to be sacrificed as a korban at the Temple in Jerusalem. Researching history for yourself is very important. No disrespect to you. I was once believed that brainwashing mess as well. Like Nacculate Vassell said, we are not bound by that law. New Testament state we freely give and pray and ask the Most High what to give and then give with a cheerful heart. NT doesn’t mention nothing about 10%. Pastors don’t teach that. They are teaching in error.

The job of the Eulogist is to extract the principals of the life of the deceased and apply it to those of the congregations to continued to press on to do greater. You should leave a blue print for others to follow.
Your life will have preached it's own sermon. It really doesn't matter what the preachers says about you, it's what God know about you that will matter. I remember senior saint say, no matter how good a pastor is, he can't preach you into heaven.
Jesus didn’t die to have ‘our’ deaths preached about. It’s about HIS death and resurrection, not ours. God is j-e-a-l-o-u-s.

We don't need a praise team , we need choirs, forget the leader that wants to be like Kirk Franklin. Everyone in the choir is gay or usually sleeping outside of marriage but nobody checks them because they just want someone to sing. We don't need a new wing in the church, Im not calling some lady I see only on Sundays " First Lady" , my mama is the only person I'll call that. I get to church on time, I should be able to sit in the pew in the front, not some NFL player that can give big money and comes once a month, not giving to the church anniversary and pastors anniversary fund. I'm not cursed if I dont tithe. Wish I knew that long ago. Pastors got a slew of women they can pay off that well never know about. Praying and hoping and getting disappointed because they tell you " it's because you don't have enough faith." No need for a praise team, dance team, step team, old peoples choir, young people's choir and lights, camera and entertainment and etc and pastor preaches on a message that has nothing to do with the reality of what the congregation is dealing with. Just over it. This is why alot of black people are leaving the black church and looking for sound doctrine and looking to be taught what they know the holy spirit is teaching them that the black church is not teaching them.

The problem I have with megachurches is their lack of real help in the community. I've been a social worker for 28 yrs. I can NEVER get help for my clients, many of wgich are their congregants. They will offer the last 50.00 of a bill but not without asking for a tithes report, tax returns, etc. In 28 yrs the only churches to provide help have been Catholic, Lutheran and divers small churches with less than 200 members. I live in Baltimore now and I have reached out every megachurch here, lots of all black churches and not once in allnof these years have any of our clients received help. Yet the pastors drive Bentley's. One church has a helicopter pad. Several offerings, atm machines, etc yet the congregants can't even afford to attend the churches private schools. But when the cameras show up, the pastors show up. I can only speak for Baltimore. So I won't generalize. But I stopped attending all black megachurches and started attending smaller diverse churches that really are about the business of community and Serv. The pastors arent multimillionaires while their congregants are homeless.

My concern is if I know the pastor's name and his wife. Does he know mines? These mega churches are so big and it's like do you know my name? If I'm a member for yrs and paying my tithes and offerings. Do you know me? I'm gonna need to know that?
Donna Bey I go to a medium sized (200-300) active members and (1000) on role.. 2 things - 1. Our pastor knows the members who are involved, those are the ones he interacts with on a regular basis... 2. Acts 6 clearly identifies Deacons to assist Pastor who job is to bring the word and he cannot help everyone and do that effectively...
Donna Bey, I agree with you. I grew up in church, my pastor then knew everybody. All of us by name. My grandmother was an evangelist, she drug us to church 3-4 a week. The pastor was very approachable. Not today though. The mega church pastors are surrounded by body guards, there aren't alter calls anymore, seeking to get those unsaved to the alters to become saved. The mega church pastors are focused on tithes, offerings, and numbers of how many members they may keep to fill their pockets. I love the"Lord" with every fiber of my being, though I cannot will not sit with folk who are dressing to the tee just to be seen. The powerful anointing has gone out of the church, secular music has infiltrated the church, and "GOD" knows it. We're "JESUS" here on Earth now, he would go in and turn all the money tables over and rebuke all who are in error. Now Donna, I'm just saying. Bishop Noel, I can agree with his stance as well. But the "Lord" admonishes us to seek him and not worship the leaders. "DOD bless you Donna.

@ LIES!! Most of Dr Monroe's teaching was on leadership, economics training! Building businesses and stability, wealth through business creation. He himself said he was generating almost $15k per speech. Flew chartered jets all over the world! How can he advocate for a life of mediocrity when he himself was quite wealthy. He never spoke against obtaining wealth, only against the worship of money/ wealth!

I’m glad I came across this today. Wow!!! I needed this today. To know that a pastor KNOWS the generation he is dealing with says a lot. Also, he mentioned millennials changed the game and he never used it in a negative connotation like most generation-X and Baby Boomers do. He explained how different we operate, how we think, and what we want to see without saying, “Well, the problem with the millennials is...” and that’s a blessing to hear honestly. To grow to a megachurch is not an easy thing. When something grows big, it is an easy target to attack. One plants, one waters, but God gives the increase. Is the increase from God bad?
If that is the case, then God is bad, which is an oxymoron.

Every store is not a Walmart and every store is not a Whole Foods. Both of these stores serve different purposes. At the same time, they both are engaged in helping the community outside of their purpose. Know which one you need or is convenient for you and support it.
Now, the megachurch is not so holy that it is exempt from critique. What I would like to see is the megachurch, become more active in changing their own local community. Most, if not all HBCU's were founded by small black denominations with their own money. If that can be done during social unrest and oppression and racism, imagine what could be done now in other arena's?
The purpose of the church is to build up spiritual lives, to draw the lost and equip others to do the same. "Upon this Rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Upon this "Rock," which is the confession as "Jesus the messiah, you are Lord," no weapon in hell can win. This is where the megachurch could take a bold stand with confidence.
It is apparent that society and culture wants to change the purpose of the Church and make it into community center. Let's keep the Church, the Church -- where souls are lifted, lives are changed, the gospel is preached, the poor is helped... and so on, but lets not get too crazy and turn it into something it is not designed to be.
If each megachurch becomes the beacon of their own community, then all these things will follow.

Even pastors of mega churches - most of them are great with their funds and normally have outside businesses and ventures that they live off of.

I appreciate his transparency. Results was the standard of Jesus. He said if you didn't believe what he spoke, then believe him because of the works he performed. When John the Baptist was coming to the end of his purpose, and his time, on earth; he sent two of his disciples to Jesus with a question: "Are you the Christ, or should we look for another?" Jesus did not answer them with scripture. He answered them with results. We, the church, are being asked the same question regarding Jesus. We have failed miserably in our response. Hence, the unbelief that permeates our society. Yet, know this, God has sworn by Himself "the glory of the LORD SHALL cover the earth as the waters cover the seas." You can be assured that the entire cosmos will fade away before God fails to keep His word. If He spoke it, He will do it. If He said it, He WILL make it good. He might use millennials with green hair, nose rings, tattoos of every kind, gender confusion, emotional dysfunction, and anything else the church would consider to be reason for absolute disqualification to ever be embraced by a holy God. But, God will take the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.

Bishop Noel just about everything you say or preach is profound, but 0:38- was right on. To me, not being critical, but Bishop T. D. Jakes was one of the best in that regards. His preaching carried over to his Talk show, then his talk show spun off in his preaching if that makes sense. He became the Prince of the Mega church, Pastor J. Olsteen may have been the King of the Mega Christian churches.You articulated that and(hoped) my understanding of that well. Great interview.
Mega churches are a poor crutch to The Church that Jesus called to commission in Matt 28:19-20. Mega churches focus too much on numbers and positive thinking, not bad in itself, however not the goal! “Baptise an teach my commandments,” Christ says. And what are these commandments, love th Lord with all your heart, love your neighbor as you love yourself. Simple! And those two great commandments focus us on the here now to make disciples not converts.
To say that I am disappointed that Bishop just said Ministers with the gift of healing should be going to hospitals healing, would be an understatement . How a Pastor of Jesus Christ of such stature , would say this beats me hollow. The gift of healing is not magic. Even Jesus himself demanded a measure of faith from the recipient of the healing. Places in the Bible, where Jesus said " your faith has made you whole. In Luke 4:23-27 Jesus himself said a prophet is not accepted in his hometown. That passage says Elijah didn't or couldn't heal cases of leprosy in his hometown, but Naaman a foreigner a Syrian. They were widows but the foreign widow from Zarephath experienced that miracle. Even Jesus couldn't do much in his hometown Mathew 13:57. Bishop ought to know better than this,, that the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, especially the gift of healing oftentimes requires the cooperation faith of the receiver for the move of the Holy Spirit. We are only vessels, it's actually the Holy Ghost that expresses himself Power through us

At 0:38, Jones says Mega church moved from gospel preaching to positive thinking, later he's millennials want to see results. The answer and solution is that the church should do what Jesus Christ taught, preached, and show of healing results. Jesus demonstrated the power of God by going into the church and outside of the church into communities showing the power of God, the problem is when the church stray or going away from these principles into some feel good worldly or New Age philosophies.
On the subject of forgiveness, the bible states that we must forgive. Matthew 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Forgiveness is hard but it is necessary. If Jesus can forgive those who slandered his name, beat him, spat on him and took Him to the cross, we as Christians should be able to forgive as well. As a pastor he should be teaching what the bible teaches about forgiveness not what he feels.

The bible says that those that are called into offices are for the edification of the saints not the edification of the hospitals. We the congregation and general members of the church are the ones that are meant to be in the hospitals praying for the sick. Don't use logic use the bible. And also notice that the bible says that any believer can lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.
