I think seminary training is useful, but a potential student should be careful which one they attend, because of the humanistic approach that prevails in those institutions. They can actually contribute to a loss of one's faith, rather than enhance it.

well no, that is what a seminary is for. To teach men of God how to become preachers of the gospel. Now, are all preachers seminary trained? Certainly not, John the Baptist didn't go through the schools of the prophets, Jesus did not. Neither did the disciples. However there is formal education process. Dr. King and many other great preachers did attend seminary institutions.

He’s speaking very truthfully. In small congregations its inherently easier for preachers to meet with individuals. Easier to council a few congregants. Just like a company CEO, the larger you grow, the more responsibility and the only way to reach every is to delegate.
With love and respect, Jeremiah Wright's last point was way off. If women make up 70% of your congregation, CHANGE THAT and do what is necessary to bring men back into the church. That means stop posturing yourself as every woman's husband and every man's father. Our men want to be respected and treated as men. You're the head of your church not the head of the people's homes and hearts and minds. If you want your church to hit the streets and you need the men to be in church, do what it takes to get and keep black men in the church.

I am a 66 year year old male, going to church as a young man, I had a problem understanding, how I can have everlasting life, after , I die. But live in hell on earth. In church there was a whole lot of shouting ,and a bunch of emotional theater. My problem is, the preaching. For far to long, this Bible has shown me that something is flawed, and there is something, Truly misleading about this Bible. The church is in decline, simply because, people are fed up with being lied too. Remove the lies, and replace it with the truth 💯. The HAVES are living there heaven, on earth. The HAVE not, s are living there Hell ,right here on earth. This conversation is great, finally we are talking, instead of preaching. Financial insecurities, bias laws, and race issues, chokes the progress, of, mostly one group of people. One thing, that was said, that makes the most sense is establishing a banking system that will help all people. And therein lies the rub... Detroit is 80% black with over 2,000 churches. The dialogue was about what is wrong with the churches in those communities specifically. Looks like they are leaning towards the issue being that church leaders not having enough seminary training.
@@syndell3825 That was only one piece of the dialogue. The education greatly differentiates the conversation but not always in the positive. I believe most seminary trained pastors still don’t teach on that level or push the congregation to study the Bible like they study core subjects in school. The other piece is making the Christian walk as practical in planning to succeed economically and collectively, as they do to prepare to walk the streets of gold. I believe the pastor must include other educated members of the church in this dialogue. Economic empowerment via the collective effort of community leadership starting with pastors and church leaders.
The first church was "black people", all the way through old testament, the church was still "black people", the church that Jesus ministered to in the flesh was "black", it wasn't until He ascended that His disciples were to teach the "white people". So in the end, when it's all said and done, His church will be those who have endured according to His word (laws, statutes & commandments). So whatever nation you are from, if that's you, so be it.

I’ve actually seen it happen with a church I used to work at. It was close to 10 churches (various denominations) that with a heart to serve the city financially that came and pooled their money together, and every year around thanksgiving they’d do a musical and find raise. I’m not sure if they’re still doing it, but while I was there it was very successful and many needs were met. If they can do it, surely other churches can. They just gotta get rid of ego and selfishness.

He admonishes us to not make a final judgment regarding anyone's future existence -- in Heaven or hell unless He advises us to do so. He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but wants all men to be saved. The concept that glorifies His marvelous characteristic of long-suffering, which makes available, even to the chiefest of sinners bears witness to His willingness to present to us continuously every opportunity to repent of our sins, before we leave this world -- before He takes away His breath from our nostrils. So to occupy as Jesus has commanded us requires that we not lean on our own understanding, but through diligent prayer and fasting, receive His wisdom and insight as to what He wills and is doing right now. Remember when Mary informed Jesus that the wine had been depleted? His reply was that His time, His directive to act, had not come from His Father, yet. She at that moment expressed her desire to act on her time schedule, but His actions were based on when, what, where, why and how to ensure that His spirit was in perfect alliance, perfect obedience to the will of His Father in Heaven. It's also amazing how God will use the weak things of this world to not only confound the wise of this world, but confront them with His sovereignty, as well. When Jesus came and died for the sins of all, He did not leave us ignorant of satan's devices, but left us with the power-filled knowledge that He destroyed the works of the devil and led captivity captive. His anointing makes us more than a conqueror in Christ. When Jesus returns He is coming back for a glorious Church or Church Body that is anointed and is changing the atmosphere of the world and is bringing down the demonic strongholds that should not be flying or hoovering over our heads as the prince of the air, but, as we are resolute in our determination to rely wholeheartedly on His Word, we effortlessly keep the prince of the air within his assigned territory; beneath our feet as the snake he is and scorpion he is and every creeping thing that he is on earth. I acknowledge that God is the God of mercy and justice and as He leads us, daily, by His Holy Spirit, Who knows the heart of the Father and timely conveys to our hearts what His thoughts and will are as it applies to this moment in time, we reign with Him as territorial conquerors of despotism. There's a designated season of time for all things. By listening to His voice, alone we are sure to work with Him and not against Him. He had allowed the wheat and tare to grow, together, only to separate, in the end, the sheep from the goats. Whatever state of mind each man chooses to be in when he leaves this world or when Jesus returns will determine his eternity. Yet, the fervent, effectual prayers of the righteous avails much and is a sweet aroma in the presence of God. Should we not seek the salvation of the wicked until He determines it is time for stop doing so. We cannot curse what God has blessed, nor bless what God has cursed. But we can allow our Father's forgiveness to reign supreme in our hearts as His love covers a multitude of sins for those who are willing to repent and receive the glorious Salvation freely given in the name of Jesus Christ. Such forgiveness requires the strength and anointing of God, but He deserves all of our hearts, our souls, and our minds as we walk by His faith -- that of Christ -- and not by sight -- by what we see in the natural. Thank you, @Kenneth J. Benton. A lot of sound and fury signifying nothing. I’m not sure the answer is a simple or singular one, but at least get to the point, man. He was almost there when he said that most preachers are not trained. That is, the reason there’s nothing going on in the community is because the pastor does not understand that the church (body of believers) is salt, and being salt, must be liberally spread throughout the community, into people’s everyday lives. Church is not Sunday morning and hooping. It’s visiting the shut-ins, raising the orphans and helping the widows and widowers, providing guidance to young people, etc. All of that is stuff you have to do 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Keep in mind that the Pastor is to tend to the spiritual needs of the church. Jesus and the Apostles went around preaching the Word and healing the sick. That is their primary job. Anything else is extra.

In his message In Search of Freedom: Entrance into Civil Rights King explains what he went through during the Montgomery Bus Boycott. How those who opposed him threatened to kill him. King then found himself wondering about sin and evil. King felt that the religion and philosophy he learned at the university COULD NOT HELP HIM! I think seminary training is useful, but a potential student should be careful which one they attend, because of the humanistic approach that prevails in those institutions. They can actually contribute to a loss of one's faith, rather than enhance it.

And therein lies the rub... Detroit is 80% black with over 2,000 churches. The dialogue was about what is wrong with the churches in those communities specifically. Looks like they are leaning towards the issue being that church leaders not having enough seminary training.
But Jesus allows it. Sunday morning is the most segregated time in America
@@syndell3825 That was only one piece of the dialogue. The education greatly differentiates the conversation but not always in the positive. I believe most seminary trained pastors still don’t teach on that level or push the congregation to study the Bible like they study core subjects in school.
The other piece is making the Christian walk as practical in planning to succeed economically and collectively, as they do to prepare to walk the streets of gold.
I believe the pastor must include other educated members of the church in this dialogue. Economic empowerment via the collective effort of community leadership starting with pastors and church leaders.
America does.
The first church was "black people", all the way through old testament, the church was still "black people", the church that Jesus ministered to in the flesh was "black", it wasn't until He ascended that His disciples were to teach the "white people". So in the end, when it's all said and done, His church will be those who have endured according to His word (laws, statutes & commandments). So whatever nation you are from, if that's you, so be it.

I’ve actually seen it happen with a church I used to work at. It was close to 10 churches (various denominations) that with a heart to serve the city financially that came and pooled their money together, and every year around thanksgiving they’d do a musical and find raise. I’m not sure if they’re still doing it, but while I was there it was very successful and many needs were met. If they can do it, surely other churches can. They just gotta get rid of ego and selfishness.

@Fransz Broker It's amazing how God chooses to apply His Grace and Love to each of us. He admonishes us to not make a final judgment regarding anyone's future existence -- in Heaven or hell unless He advises us to do so.
He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but wants all men to be saved. The concept that glorifies His marvelous characteristic of long-suffering, which makes available, even to the chiefest of sinners bears witness to His willingness to present to us continuously every opportunity to repent of our sins, before we leave this world -- before He takes away His breath from our nostrils.
So to occupy as Jesus has commanded us requires that we not lean on our own understanding, but through diligent prayer and fasting, receive His wisdom and insight as to what He wills and is doing right now.
Remember when Mary informed Jesus that the wine had been depleted? His reply was that His time, His directive to act, had not come from His Father, yet. She at that moment expressed her desire to act on her time schedule, but His actions were based on when, what, where, why and how to ensure that His spirit was in perfect alliance, perfect obedience to the will of His Father in Heaven.
It's also amazing how God will use the weak things of this world to not only confound the wise of this world, but confront them with His sovereignty, as well.
When Jesus came and died for the sins of all, He did not leave us ignorant of satan's devices, but left us with the power-filled knowledge that He destroyed the works of the devil and led captivity captive. His anointing makes us more than a conqueror in Christ.
When Jesus returns He is coming back for a glorious Church or Church Body that is anointed and is changing the atmosphere of the world and is bringing down the demonic strongholds that should not be flying or hoovering over our heads as the prince of the air, but, as we are resolute in our determination to rely wholeheartedly on His Word, we effortlessly keep the prince of the air within his assigned territory; beneath our feet as the snake he is and scorpion he is and every creeping thing that he is on earth.
I acknowledge that God is the God of mercy and justice and as He leads us, daily, by His Holy Spirit, Who knows the heart of the Father and timely conveys to our hearts what His thoughts and will are as it applies to this moment in time, we reign with Him as territorial conquerors of despotism.
There's a designated season of time for all things. By listening to His voice, alone we are sure to work with Him and not against Him. He had allowed the wheat and tare to grow, together, only to separate, in the end, the sheep from the goats.
Whatever state of mind each man chooses to be in when he leaves this world or when Jesus returns will determine his eternity. Yet, the fervent, effectual prayers of the righteous avails much and is a sweet aroma in the presence of God. Should we not seek the salvation of the wicked until He determines it is time for stop doing so. We cannot curse what God has blessed, nor bless what God has cursed. But we can allow our Father's forgiveness to reign supreme in our hearts as His love covers a multitude of sins for those who are willing to repent and receive the glorious Salvation freely given in the name of Jesus Christ.
Such forgiveness requires the strength and anointing of God, but He deserves all of our hearts, our souls, and our minds as we walk by His faith -- that of Christ -- and not by sight -- by what we see in the natural. AMEN. So be it! Selah!
That's what it says in the Bible. As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure the Bible says He ( GOD) prefers if you go into a closet to call on him because no man can save you and get you close to him.
Our streets and churches are full of untrained, unlearned and consequently corrupt preachers and their corrupted followers. Is there any community anywhere with so many churches and virtue absolutely on the run among their people. It’s ridiculous and Christ himself would be appalled. Just more of the same that he came to denounce.

If you read the scripture the apostles were taught by Jesus, not a school. Schooling can be beneficial but those in the ministry are to be called by Jesus Christ and lead and taught by the HolyGhost. Several professors who teach scripture have not even surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ

It appears to me, All this conversation is about money, followers, and self. I didn't hear ANYTHING about JESUS. I do agree, every man, woman, boy, girl, and whom ever you call YOURSELF, WILL stand before an ALL MIGHTY GOD!!! Thank all you Pastor's for your insight. God knows All situations.

Being led by the Holy Spirit, both can compliment each other. Seminary teaches you how and The Holy Spirit Give you the unction to perfect what you have learned.
There are some things only the Holy Spirit can help us to understand. But many preachers are not even filled with the Holy Spirit. Many of them are still in the world, " Jesus said to come out from among them". Man is way too busy trying to make their "own" church instead of following the true Church of God, led by "Jesus" himself!
So many preaches are not preaching Salvation, Salvation and Holy living is skipped over.
I see so much intellectualism these days, many degrees and pieces of paper with no "unction", no holy spirit whatsoever. It's sad.

He was almost there when he said that most preachers are not trained. That is, the reason there’s nothing going on in the community is because the pastor does not understand that the church (body of believers) is salt, and being salt, must be liberally spread throughout the community, into people’s everyday lives. Church is not Sunday morning and hooping. It’s visiting the shut-ins, raising the orphans and helping the widows and widowers, providing guidance to young people, etc. All of that is stuff you have to do 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Keep in mind that the Pastor is to tend to the spiritual needs of the church. Jesus and the Apostles went around preaching the Word and healing the sick. That is their primary job. Anything else is extra.

Amen to that! Be led by the HOLY SPIRIT not seminary. There's nothing wrong with training (seminary) as long as you are led by the HOLY ONE (JESUS CHRIST) that anointed and appointed for "KINGDOM BUILDING". The disciples of CHRIST were ordinary men that JESUS CHRIST called and chose.

We are put here to serve God it's not the other way around. If everything is about prosperity and money then you have made money your God. You have created an idol. Out of this list there's another Spirits involved which is vanity and another one after that which is greed and another one which is pride . Be careful of these things when loving things prosperity and living better sounds good in this world but in the spirit realm other things are attached
