Happy New Years everyone! So even tho I was a disappointed with Season 3, I figured that since yesterday was officially the last episode of the series, we should still give it a proper farewell & talk a bit about the ways it looks to be setting up some of the cosmic & multiversal craziness we'll see Phase 6. And I hope you all have a killer New Years & don't wake up too hungover in 2025! And THANKS for the THANKS to @JKOversion1, @henrylopez3479, GratefulDoom & @JamesHaskins8074! I didn't forget you guys & I'll get to your questions/comments in the next one
@@thetoybox4333 Fair enough. The video doesn't focus on the negative & is actually more about the interesting & hype worthy stuff in this season. But yeah I can't lie either, as much as I love the MCU, overall I was disappointed with What If.
You can’t just throw Beta-Ray Bill in as a side character or a simple variant. He deserves an introduction in a stand alone Thor movie at the very least.
Introducing a character like BRB in support is exactly how you do it. He is not going to grab mainstream audiences on name recognition but introduce him and get the audience to develop an opinion/emotion. Kind of like Gambit in the last Deadpool movie.
The thing to keep in mind is that Secret Wars is the MCU reboot and if based upon the comics there is a ton of plot elements that need to be firmly established in the audiences mind so as to not seem like very handy wavy and a dues ex machina style of storytelling. Because let's be fair here, Secret Wars 2015 was cutting very deep into the abstract side of Marvel. Very deep. So What If? has now introduced a few key elements necessary for the Secret Wars movie. Firstly, it has established that you can go between realities. We already guessed this with the TVA but it was explicitly stated in this episode. A key plot point of Secret Wars is that Reed builds lifeboats to save people when it is realised there is no way to stop the mutual destruction of the last two universes. (most likely the MCU and the Fox universe). The show has also set up this idea in the audiences mind that the multiverse can and will get very crazy. This is needed because Viktor built Battle world from fragments of the multiverse, which includes unfamiliar but popular characters like Maestro that Marvel don't have time to set up. Finally, and most importantly, the series has established the concept of a living universe or the idea that it is possible for someone to create a new reality. By having even the Watchers stripped of their powers within a reality created by someone you are cementing the kind of unparalleled power that Viktor will have while also showing that such power being used to create a new MCU following Secret Wars is not some lazy ending to the saga but actually well within the scope of the fictional rules of the MCU itself.
100$ says thor core gonna stop lokis avengers in battle world. Then loki shows up frees the thors from the hold of doom then we literally get the avengers gaining an army of thors. The xmen will have an army of deadpools and doom has the hulks. What if feels like such a wasted opportunity. All these possibilities and radically different variations and they just spammed captain carter during the entire show. She worked for season 1. However, we should’ve gotten new characters who comes together at the final during each season
Superhero Movies are tending towards 200Mil USD average per movie. It's not really a good plan to keep aiming at adults or leaning R or making D+ shows like you're in a renaissance. In fact, "huge" events are not ideal. They should probably dive headfirst into "kids" movies in order to survive. Otherwise, the Superhero genre is gonna get Hulk smashed real soon as Mystic Movies come in.
Like most of the bloggers of this genre, you’re setting your expectations way too high. What if did what it was designed to do, entertain us. It did , that’s all!
I didn’t hate the What If finale… cool plot but I’m tired of trying to “believe” that the 4 rag tag women or whoever, is always in the right. Could’ve guessed (sadly) that they all become Watchers which makes me lose all respect to the Watchers and their whole background plot!!
KindaCulty, you do good thoughtful work. Yet, Disney/Marvel make it frustrating to even want to watch your videos because what they think Marvel is SUCKS!!! Disney is making me hate Marvel...the goofy "marvel" formula, horrible story/plot choices and insulting dialogue just ruin what could have been some amazing marvel content brought to the big screen. Marvel comics fan can cite comic books as infinitum, but you know my point. Disgusted. I don't really hear much in rumors/leaks that gives me hope either. Maybe the coming Mutant Saga...but Marvel Studios isn't helping itself.
I haven't bothered watching What If after season one. Happy New Year's,please if you're drinking tonight do not drive. Uber/Lyft or designated driver. Don't make a mistake.🙏✌️❤️😁🙏
What If is supposed to be elseworld stories that don't affect the main canon... but the way simple folks like to be entertained means that What If *is* canon. I hate that people are so simple.
Maybe in the comics, but we are in the Multiverse Saga. It would make zero sense for the show to not be canon, especially with how the Marvel multiverse has been explained to us. I really don't get your complaint here. You don't like that a show about the Multiverse is canon to the Multiverse Saga? Even if they came out and said that it wasn't canon, in an infinite Multiverse, everything in the show would still happen
@@culchiefilms1791 The first part of your first statement pretty much nailed it for the most part. I hate that the MCU has taken such liberties with the source as it is, and I also hate multiverse anything. In terms of storytelling, it completely takes all of the stakes out of literally everything. Besides that, it really feels like MCU's What If has *just* been a vehicle for their inclusivity mandate, and I'm just way beyond tired of all of that nonsense. To get political for just a sec... I fucking HATE Trump, and I feel like the insistence on identity politics in the last few years is bigly what gave him the yuge victory... again. So I'm a bit resentful at this show for being basically at the forefront
@Grimtheorist I actually agree with you for the most part so. I don't mind the whole multiverse concept as a whole, but I am not a fan of how the MCU has handled it. I was hyped for it after Loki Season 1, but they have since made their multiverse too complicated by contradicting themselves and introducing things like Anchor beings or the loom in Loki Season 2. The multiverse concept should be used as a problem that needs solving, but instead the MCU uses it as a cheap and easy way to solve problems. And I definitely agree with you about the inclusivity thing. I remember watching the finale and realising that the 4 main characters were all female. I've no problem with female characters, but there are more male Marvel characters than female, and more male Marvel fans than female fans. So what is the point of having the team be all female? Their logic about being inclusive doesn't work when there are no males. I don't believe we even have had an all male team throughout the whole MCU. Identity politics is destroying the MCU and Hollywood in general. Now they only seem to hire writers based on their politics and activism instead of their talents and/or interest in the source material. It should be crystal clear by now that everytime they hire activist writers/directors, the project fails and is disliked by fans, and everytime the writers/directors actually care about the source material and the characters, the project does well. Unless they believe their own BS review bombing narrative. But sometimes even when we have writers that care, the studio meddles and destroy the whole script and project. Biggest example being Quantumania. The script for that movie was touted as the best comic book movie script ever, but the studio removed so much that we ended up with the lackluster movie we got. From what I heard about the OG script, it would have fixed most of the issues I had with the movie, especially the ending. Marvel Studios need to get their priorities straight. Stop pandering and just make good projects. I don't think there has ever been a single genuine fan who walked out of an MCU movie and said "That was great but unfortunately it wasn't inclusive enough". They're pandering to a group of people who have no interest in the MCU, and never will no matter how inclusive it is, while ignoring the actual people who care about the MCU and who pay and fund Marvel Studios by watching everything they release. It's at a stage now where it almost feels like they want to fail. Every project focused solely on inclusivity fails and somehow they think they need more inclusivity. Doesn't make sense
What If... was ruined by wokeness. The even made the skin tones of the watchers different. Alternate universe Avengers will just all be race/gender swapped heroes. Stark will be the bad guy because he is white. It has been all downhill since Endgame.
What If, feels like it wants to be important to the MCU, but also feels like it is trying to be stand alone crap. Pick one Marvel. I cant take the show serious. Plus it just isnt very good. They set up a cool watcher moment for the finally, just to end with cartoons shooting colors at each other.
My kids and I have literally made it an event to watch every single marvel project since iron man. If ff has the same kind of writing that we've been seeing, I probably won't watch any more.
They only thing that makes this theory weak is the fact that most movies that take ideas from the shows dnt do well, expect for doctor strange 2.. and that shit left fans lost because some didn't watch Wanda vision or didn't understand it's ending.. and the last 3 minutes of this video seems like a reach honestly haha.. why would they show a samurai ghost rider to prime us to see Nick Cage ghost rider.. that's dnt really make sense bro haha.. but to my main point if most movies goers have seen this season of what if then this theory doesn't really make sense . For a business and story telling stand point this makes shit more confusing haha
I want a live action Byrdie played by Natasha Lyonne! As for the show overall, I'd say you're on the harsher side, but not far off. I thought there was some great episodes and the last few of each season were all very solid, but that a lot just missed the mark/the potential. They should have either done total one off episodes or all connected. The kinds connected but then other episodes totally unconnected didn't work for me to keep me intrigued. I also think they really just kinda didn't get it half the time.
What if was horrible, the election showed us the country is more than ready to move on from the forced woke agenda, hopefully disney recognizes this and makes marvel great again, but i like most other marvel fans will not pay for their products until they fix it…
All this hype just to most likely get disappointed again 😂 cuz endgame was trash and Deadpool wolverine was mid.. where's the good story telling and connectivity that made marvel cool?? It's like they literally just figured what gets y'all hype or what aligns with the motive and just do that instead of making a truly compelling story.. Marvel is really fast food these days haha

We could've have a pirate universe, or an episode centering around Spider-Man, there's a lot of ideas...
Yeah... unfortunately a lot of squandered potential
What if… the other half got snapped
What if …. You know I can’t really think, but there was a whole bunch of ideas that were better than season three
Yeah i didn't even think about that. The fact the most popular marvel character didn't get a single what if episode is borderline insulting.
I just need James Marsden’s cyclops to do some amazing stuff
