    Nice video :) I've personally found though that leaving peaking to high will include colored selections that are not really in focus at all, and it is difficult at times to distinguish what truly is the focal point of the image. I definitely recommend punching in on the focus assist to verify with your own eyes what is in focus on the image, irregardless of what peaking is showing

    • @andrewsaraceni
      @andrewsaraceni  Рік тому

      Good question - it appears to be a camera to camera thing in terms of how it behaves. e.g. Most models in the Sony system it used to work like this, but as of the a7 IV and subsequent models, when it's on it's always on regardless of AF or MF.

  • @dalefmurphy

    I set a customkey to magnify when I want to manually focus on my A1. This worked ok on my Tamron 28-75 lens but did not work at all when I connected my new Brightin Star 50mm f/0.95 lens, which is a manual-focus-only lens. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    • @andrewsaraceni
      @andrewsaraceni  4 місяці тому

      Are you using any lens mount adapter with the Brightin Star? It could depend on what you've mapped - i.e. Focus Magnifier will work with MF-only lenses, but Auto Magnifier in AF may not.

    • @dalefmurphy
      @dalefmurphy 4 місяці тому

      @@andrewsaraceni Hi. No adapter. It has an E-mount. I suspect that it has no electronics in the lens to tell the Sony anything, so the Sony probably doesn't even know a lens is attached, let alone that it is in Manual mode.

    • @andrewsaraceni
      @andrewsaraceni  Рік тому

      Thanks! For S-Log3 exposure, I don't have any firm rule/value (it depends on the shot, what's in frame or focus), but I usually aim to be +1-2 stops overexposed overall.

    nice tuto.
    On a7iv and a7rv, personnally i set focus magnifier on "OK" center button and keep trash button for tactile on/off (when my nose touches the lcd when in evf mode).
    Jason Vong and Philip Bloom are using AF/MF toggle on AFON and AF/MF hold on ael. toggle is nice because no need to press all the time when you want to keep focus on a building,... while people, a pole is suddenly on front.
    I like your AF/MF hold method but it requires to be in MF all the time while AF-C is very powerful. By default I am in AF-C.
    But on a7iv and a7rv, (philip bloom part 1 and 2), when you are in af-c mode, that af/mf hold behaves inverse. if i am correct, it works when you release the button instead of pressing it. correct ?
    I saw in a Crafford AF tuto that when we use movie button for video, half pressing shutter button makes a focus hold. Is is documented because not customizable.

    • @andrewsaraceni
      @andrewsaraceni  Рік тому

    • @andrewsaraceni

    The only thing that doesn't make sense to me using my a7iv, is if I manual focus on a foreground object and focus peaking is on the object is highlighted RED zoomed in, so when I'm about to press the shutter button it zooms out, but still showing me the focus is on the foreground object "but why are background objects showing highlighted RED as well?" given aperture is set to f1.4 seems like the focus peaking also highlights objects that are not in focus, that shouldn't be.

    • @andrewsaraceni
      @andrewsaraceni  2 роки тому

      I think a lot of that depends on the low vs. medium vs. high setting. You might notice a difference if you check focus peaking between using those different settings.
