- I had the fantastic opportunity to play my Experibass on Hans Zimmer's score for "Sherlock Holmes", the new Guy Ritchie's film. I'm one of the featured soloists.
Hans really loved the pounding tonal grooves and aggressive depth of the basses I was playing on the Experibass and asked me to go full scale with all those techniques I was showing in the original video. I didn't stop there though, I also experimented with new techniques that were coming up to my mind while playing on his tracks.
A big thanks goes to my friends Daniel Holter and Russell Emanuel for passing my video and make the connection happens.
Working with Hans Zimmer and his team has been great and I'd like to thank them for this amazing experience. I've been a fan of his music for a long time and I felt honored when he called me to play on the score of Sherlock Holmes.
Nice!
The Experibass is now sampled in Omnisphere 2 :-)
thats so awesome:P
5*
O_O Oh mio dio, con Hans Zimmer!
you're a genius!!!!!!
wow really
good for you!
intersting music conversation at the beginning :P
Diego is my Superhero!
two gods of music!! truly divine!!!!!
I thought I heard something like this in Sherlock Homes! That's so great that you got to work on something that major!
It's 2020 and I can't wait to hear this instrument in Sherlock Holmes 3 after 10 years. It's what my heart years for in the movie to be honest. This sound.
It's a honor to see an "almost neighbor" work together with a true legend like Hanz Zimmer.
Italy, despite being stuck in a cultural mid-age, is still producing some great talents.
Complimenti e un saluto da Venezia!
I am so jealous of you! It is my whole life dream to meet this person. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't get this dream of becoming a composer. I'm learning 6 instruments and doing all my best to become a film composer, and all thanks to his music. Someday I will surely meet him and thank him.
Very interesting. Thanks for posting. What an amazing instrument!!
Amazing Diego!! true genius..!! I was left awestruck after watching the movie and hearing the musical score...
Wow. I just discovered you today and I cannot stop watching everything you have made thus far. You truly deserve every bit of congratulations and recognition. Absolutely amazing, and amazingly beautiful. Just, wow.
honestly, the end music sample, i wasn't picturing Sherlock Holmes...
i was more picturing Turok hunting dinosaurs in the jungle
Kudos, Diego. Awesome to see you get a-list attention and I can't wait to hear the soundtrack.
Amazing video !!
With my favorite composer :)
Congratulations on Working with a legend! I'm sure you were so excited! You will go very far my friend and I think this is your break into the biz! :)
that talk of pasta made me hungry......XD
@timemperorable whats the thing he mentions besides good tomatoes ?
is this the instrument that plays at the beginnig of Martial Sabotage on the soundtrAck
@mboy115 I think so...
one question - can you play it like a normal string instrument? (my inner cellist cringed to the soul with all the banging and drumming, lol) i'm assuming the double bass can be played, maybe the cello, and definitely not the violin/viola strings. what then is the point of the violin and viola sticking up there?
kudos on the most intriguing instrument i have ever seen.
Genio
i'd pay to go see that show live anywhere here in latinoamerica
Is that hammered bass in Omnisphere by any chance? If not, it should be for the next update!
so is the experibass mostly tuned to "d"? cause the sherlock holmes and assasins creed scores are primarily in D minor, which both feature experibass...just a thought
god i'm lovin the accents :p
@vanzonhl basil
You should also call it "Hans Zimmer and Diego Stocco talk about spaghetti".
Just kidding.
I want to see what imogen heap would do with your creations. BTW hans is a genius because of him now I enjoy listening to music scores not just pop or bands or dj's.
Diego looks like Tommy from power rangers.
@dlo693 Thanks, I'd love to work with Peter Gabriel, he's one of my favorite artists!
@alienwareify A viola has the same strings as a cello: C G D A - just on a different octave. The violin has strings a 5th up: G D A E. I play cello.
from small talk about spaghetti to the real thing.... do you have a job opening?
