      Hi Fabiano,
      I hope this message finds you well.
      Just wanted to extend an invitation to you! For several months my team and I have been working hard on setting up my new Online Wing Chun Combatives program.
      It is an online course like no other. It is basically an extension of my academy headquarters.
      You see, during the pandemic lockdown, we were forced to move all our lesson online! and in the process we realised how much our students were learning and gaining from this virtual experience. So much so, we decided to extend this learning program to all my fans around the world.
      Here you will experience first hand instruction from myself twice a week, with instant feedback. It will give you the opportunity to learn and train in the comfort of your own home, you can access these lessons on any device Laptop, PC, Smartphone, Tablet, etc. All the lessons will be kept in our online library were you can access them at any time (in case you missed a class!).
      We are launching this new program Monday 18th January 2021, and I would like to offer you one week free access (2 lessons). This will give you the opportunity to try it out and if it’s something you would like to continue, then you can form part of our Wing Chun Community! :-)

    If you were able to close into Wing Chun's inside striking range, why would you ever do a push kick and drive him back into kicking range?

    • @UltimateMartialArtsAcademy
      @UltimateMartialArtsAcademy  4 роки тому +6

      My leg is much stronger than my punch, it is a good option to finish the altercation, and not continue to expose myself unnecessarily by trading punches.

      @@UltimateMartialArtsAcademy Henry,
      Thanks for your reply. My question would be this: what if the kick doesn't finish the altercation? It just seems so risky. We've seen so many MMA fights when kicks are like punches: they hurt but don't finish. If it's a street fight, it may be even more dangerous than MMA since it's possible you could drive your opponent back and allow him space to pull out a knife or a gun.
      Not to mention that kicking range isn't a Wing Chun specialty--most of your drills and exercises are within "bent arm" range. Why kick him back outside of your specialty range?
      I know this is a different lineage, but I saw this from Gary Lam/WSL instructor Greg LeBlanc:
      www.leblancwingchun.com/reading1
      "If the primary distance is lost or given up (such as by stepping back), the Wing Chun defender cannot continue using his or her main tactic. If the bent arm range is lost by stepping back or not maintaining proper range with the target, the kicking and grappling ranges open up and all is lost in terms of what Wing Chun seeks to attain and preserve as a range and the chief target access. The guidelines are to attain the proper range, to retain the proper range and to maintain pressure towards the center-line of the target at all times. The range that Wing Chun specializes in is meant to last only a few seconds, providing a clear path to the primary target and redefining that path if momentarily blocked out or obstructed."

    • @UltimateMartialArtsAcademy
      @UltimateMartialArtsAcademy  4 роки тому +2

      @@jaehwan123 First of all we don’t “give up” distance, we’re not meant to step back before we kick (which I explain in the video).
      Second, the push kick can easily be a kick to the groin instead or stomp kick to the knee.
      I completely disagree with your comment, regarding kicking range isn’t a Wing Chun specialty and that most drills and exercises are within “bent arm” range. Not sure how you came to that conclusion.
      However, if you’re happy with what your practicing and you think it works. Go for it.

      @@UltimateMartialArtsAcademy Yes that way my take on things with that question. If there was "only" short bridge, there would not be anything called long bridge. A strong kick that has the capacity to send an opponent sailing backwards, potentially on their back, take out a knee and therefore forward movement by them out of the issue, or simply allow enough space / time to get out of the place (you do not always need to stick around to the end of a fight if you weren't invited to the fight, but rather it was a random act of violence.) Wowo, is also thinking that highly trained MMA fighters are roaming amongst the general public looking for fights... Most random acts of violence are going to be by untrained or semi-trained thugs, not MMA brawlers with Abs of steel and unlike MMAers in a ring with rules, Wing Chunners do not have an issue with kicking the B'Jee's out of someone knees if it is an issue of personal safety. As I can attest , one. even moderately, good kick to a chest can crack a sternum and put the opponent out of action for months. We do not learn kicks for no reason, to start, or finish a sequence with one makes no difference so long as it works under the given circumstance and of course so long as it lands with power. All of these combos start or finish with a kick and they seem pretty damn effective to me: ua-cam.com/video/agLeNbgUuCw/v-deo.html

      @@yourcelebrant Henry,
      No disrespect intended. I just know that if I were to count the number of kicks thrown during a typical training session by most TKD students and Muay Thai students vs. most Wing Chun students, it's probably something like 25 to 1. If we're talking kicking experience during sparring, it's even greater. If you're part of a branch of Wing Chun that does chi sao and trapping, that's a lot of time spent in bent arm range, not in kicking range. There's a chi sao (sticky hand), but no chi gerk (sticky foot).
      As for what Greg LeBlanc said, whether you kick a guy back or step back yourself, it's still creating space, right?
      Ron,
      I agree with you. Most assailants are probably going to probably be untrained, and you're right, it's probably enough for your average attacker. But I was less worried about my assailant being a trained MMA fighter and more worried about him carrying a knife or a handgun. I wouldn't feel comfortable with that space, at least not here in the U.S. where so many people carry guns and knives.

      @@UltimateMartialArtsAcademy Hello Sifu Araneda, Thank you so much for your offer. I am still training slowly to get back to full strength. I have had shoulder and knee strains that are healing. I think it will be about another 2 or 3 months until I can train at high level again. When I am back to normal I would love to try a lesson. I will continue to watch your excellent videos and recommend your channel and your school.

      @@WingChunGungFu , I can see Sifu Duncan's long bridge approach. Despite this, I think, that thinking of combinations, using the muscles this tensed way, leaving the elbow outside seemed to contraverse the principles. But if your experience tells different, I take a bow.
