    Just bought that woodchuck tool. Having 14 trees taken down, and cutting them up myself to save a few bucks and stay active. What a difference that tool makes.
    Of course, it takes me an hour to do the work you do in five minutes. Had a buddy, in the service many years ago, with a giant purple, puckered scar running down his entire inner thigh. Chain saw accident on the farm. Said he got in the pickup, drove 15 miles to the hospital and by the time he got there the entire footwell was standing in blood. That's the kind of thing one remembers and makes one cautious even decades later.

    Hope you remembered to charge the battery this time. LOL! Nice to see a nice of cutting in the woods, a good "change of pace" from the usual log piles. Speaking of, a week from this Saturday John will be bringijg me the load of ash he told you about. Basically told him that you had such good service from him and that is why I gave him the call. This weekend will be gradung the woodyard with a small excavator. Remnants of one stump to remove, use the backfill blade to smooth out some ankle turning chuckholes, and dig out a failry large line stump. Then oush back the dirt/brush piles into the woods, move some logs, and possibly do some bucking with the excavator to hold the logs. Going to be a fun fun fun weekend! Need to get the ash drying so can maybe sell it late this season for camping.

    Just brought my new dump trailer home the other day and while I have 2 dump trucks (just one tons) that dump trailer is so much easier to load! I have the Log Ox and its a perfect for picking up smaller pieces and just flinging them into the trailer. Nice load of wood.

    2 ... do you square file .....if not you should ...cuts way gooder better

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  7 місяців тому

      Not cutting lumber just dead trees for firewood. Yup, I have tried square, it cuts too.

  • @swingbelly
    @swingbelly Рік тому +2

    Question: Why do you feel a tree about 12-16 inches above ground level, then afterwards saw out the remaining trunk just above ground level? Ive watched some European "lumberjack" videos where they cut the tree just above ground level for felling. Is there a reason for the 2 different felling methods?

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  Рік тому +1

      They are making logs so length matters, we are making firewood and it is easier to cut up above the root flare and we cut the round below off after.

  • @swingbelly
    @swingbelly Рік тому +1

    Good anti climax when loading the rounds into the trailer. Appears the woman is giving someone "sh*t for something. Maybe you forgot to feed the dog earlier?

    When bucking, what determines whether one cuts from bottom up or from top down, as seen in this video?

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  Рік тому

      It depends on the reach, angle and potential pinching.
