One of The Least Popular Genshin Characters Gets Some Love from Kotobukiya. | Figure Review

- Here comes the latest figure from the Genshin Impact game and franchise, this time around by Kotobukiya, a 1/7 scale figure of Barbara Pegg which was released just last week on the 16th of November.
For a character which isn’t as popular as pretty much every other characters I have reviewed so far - Apex Toys and Mihoyo’s Paimon, Klee, Ningguang, Keqing and Mona Megistus, would you consider this figure? A very competent figure, though not without its minor flaws, and fragile pegs, or Peggs (I just had to make the pun).
She is still a worthwhile to your collection of Genshin figures, especially if you are the kind who buys every character from a franchise, anime or game.

@@keip4568 unfortunately, yeah. I actually preordered her from Genshin's official store in China, which does include the extra face plate. But the endless lockdowns in China ended up delaying the figure with no shipping date in sight, where i got pissed and cancelled my preorder (yes I forfeited my 180 CNY deposit), just to pick her up again from amazon Japan. As a content creator I wanted to review this figure ASAP, and the shipping delay is messing with my schedule.

i'm waiting for Keqing to come in as I preordered her when I first saw her.💞 Barbara is definitely not a favorite character of mine but your review sold me on her. I just love how bright her colors are, I wanna get her now!💖

I picked up Barbara this past week from a local hobby store for a pretty good price. She is very cute and vibrant, and her price makes her even more attractive. I look forward to seeing more Genshin Impact figures from Kotobukiya in the future. Kotobukiya always strikes a fine balance between quality and value.
Thank you for showing us the better way of installing the side pegs. It made the assembly experience less stressful. I also wasn't able to push the foot peg all the way into the base but decided to just keep it that way for the same reason you mentioned.

Small thing but i really like you assembly with no cut. I always watch it even though some figures are very easy.
Thanks. I have been experimenting a few different methods. It is a tough balance between video length, yet cramming as much info as possible into one video (yet sometimes I still miss out some things), because I understand that not many people want to watch very long videos.
The reason why I'm able to do it continuously, from 2 or 3 different angles is because I have at least 2 cameras recording simultaneously from different angles, sometimes 3. One is clamped overhead right above my head. I just sync them later and swap footages as needed then speed them up.

To me, it feels like there are too few figures from Genshin despite its popularity.

Any advice for the back piece, as the one on mine doesn’t seem to fit well, and will commonly fall out. Or did mine just come with a faulty design?
It is indeed difficult to push it all the way in, but not impossible. Ideally, you shouldn't follow the steps in the instruction sheet. Plug in that pair of pegs into the dress first, after both sides are in, you finally plug in the large effect part that surrounds her.
Personally, i would only also push it halfway in, because being able to remove that part when needed is more important.
Ended up ordering one since its discounted on amazon and it looks nice based on your video. What kind of shelves are those in the background?
Those are custom shelves made by a local furniture maker with a bit of steampunk design to it. Connected with metal pipes. Though I kinda did a crappy job of installing them. They are heavy and took a lot of effort to balance too. It's mostly cosmetic in my case.
I wanted them as my background for my video, as each shelf section is barely 23 or 24cm tall. A tall 1/7 scale won't fit in the lower segments. If each level is too tall (30cm or taller) then you can only see one or two levels of shelves at most in the background of my video. So the dimensions were specced in a way to be used as a background for UA-cam videos, rather than actually for functional uses like displaying large scale figures.

Lol the international batch of Keqing was just released days ago. Within this week. You'll get her soon. As for Barbara, actually I could have gotten her a lot earlier. The problem was, many parts of China went into lockdown again. I was pretty mad that I cancelled my Barbara preorder from Genshin store China (and forfeited my $20 deposit) just to get her from amazon Japan and put her on DHL priority shipping.
As a small channel, and residing in an Asian country (3rd world country, 3rd world salaries), Im at a disadvantage when compared to other bigger channels that have been around for way longer, not to mention people from developed countries have more purchase power than I do. I can't go out and buy 6 or 8 of the hottest scale figures that cost over 30,000yen each every month.
So, I need to play to my strength - my ability to get figures very early because I have contacts with China and tap into their distribution line because that's where figures are made, and be more selective with what figure I go for. Luckily, Genshin happens to be of Chinese origin too.
Get a potentially popular figure as early as possible, rush the review out so that I'm among the earliest to review that product, while maintaining production quality.
This is one of only very few ways I could use to grow my channel, and combining that with high quality videos from full frame cameras. The reason why i own such cameras is because I'm also a photographer - for the past 9 years.

Why does the hair on the prototype looks better in terms of shading and details compared to the actual product’s hair which looks kinda single tone and no details at all
That's typical Kotobukiya. Kotobukiya doesn't do much shading in their paint jobs. It is why I've always regarded Kotobukiya as a second class figure brand. They are decent but still behind many brands in the detail department.
is there supposed to be a pattern on her leggings or is it just flat white?
yeah it is almost completely white, with a smooth finish on the surface

@@chengda85 ah, it looks more like a very light layer of decal (difficult to see in images or videos) . No textures that you can feel by touch. It's like, the background is white but you put white color decals on it so it's hard to notice.
