  • I picked up the Puch Cross CDI from DOS Cycles. Its great, it has AC and DC output and comes pre wired. In this video I am showing how to take apart the connector and hook up the ignition to your engine. I will make another video about timing this CDI, I know it is different for E50s and ZA50s.
    Let me know if this was helpful for you. Thanks!

      Points: they are cheap and not super fiddley.

      Do you possibly have a link to the the sources for the spacer and the magneto cover? I could not find it in the description.
      Thanks for the great video. Keep up the good work.

    I still have breaker points on my Puch engine, but this is definitely an upgrade from that if/when I eventually do this project. Great video.
    I went to the DOS Cycles website, and noticed that this kit includes the entire magneto, coil, and the rest of the ignition system. Also there is another option, another kit that's a bit less costly, they call it the: "PUCH BOTANAS 12V CDI PACKAGE."
    I don't know what the advantage is between the Cross Country set (your installation) and the Botanas set, if any. Both appear to contain exactly the same components. What made you opt for the more costly set?
    Thanks for the content.
    Keep up the good work.

      Mine just came in and I've diagrammed it out with a few photos, labeling all the wires:

    How would you compare & contrast this to the HPI CDI kit? That is what I installed on my Hobbit and Pinto.

      It has better power output, and the heavy flywheel helps reduce clutch chatter/engagement. It has a curve but I am not sure how that compares to the HPI curve. Its almost $200 cheaper, so thats nice. I like the HPI and run that on bikes as well though.

    Does that Cdi have an ignition curve?

    What is the power output on this? I didnt see it on the dos site

      @KelikakuCoutin 5 місяців тому +1

      I looked it up and one source says 90W but in Graham's video on it, he said he thought it was 70W. A good amount of power. There are two 12V outputs, one is 12VAC (yellow wire) and the other is 12VDC (red wire). Mine just came in a few days ago and I diagrammed it out with a few photos:
