I went there when I was a kid. I was 10 and we used to ride our bikes through the mall when they were building it. Nearby street is Kingspoint and there was also the first theater 4 movie house. Great times back then being a kid with not a worry in the world.
Do a documentary on Gulfgate Mall, that was my mall in the early 80's but I never experienced the "underground" area. I knew there was a bowling alley in the basement but I heard weird and odd things took place "underground". I can't find pictures on google so cmon thrill us.
I remember almeda mall in the mid 70s when i was in hs. It was the place to be and be seen! Buncha people would go there on the weekends. Lots of beautiful white girls! Only the rich upper middle class would go there. It was so packed you could barely walk. It was all white people. We would go there to talk to girls. It was exciting and so much fun. Today it's totally dead. DEAD so sad
Its like your describing an alternate dimension when you compare it to the people that go there now. That's part of why the history of urban development fascinates me.
Galleria, aside from the shops in there, is becoming ghetto - after recent shootings, and theft. Not as safe as it was before COViD 19 . GunsPoint is a whole other story.
Would be great if it were torn down and something else built there. I pass by it everyday.. Best thing there is that Mexican Bar where the girls show off their underwear.
Used to go here as a kid every Friday from 86-90. Was a good mall back then.

Alameda was part of my mall rotations when growing up.
I use to work at that foleys but when i got turned into a macys. So much history inside that store. Full dinner cafe and etc....
I remember Foley's and Joske's!
I worked there 3 years ago for about a month at a shoe store
It's ghetto as hell now
It went from a thriving luxurious mall to a mexican flea market.
Lol hahaha😂😂 I bet so.
And the Raza is going to keep on growing 💪🏼💪🏼🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Growing in poverty.
you talking about Sharpstown Mall, at least Almeda Mall has a Macy's.
Are you going to make a video about Greenspoint mall when it opened?

Mainly due to bay brook mall

Saw Arnold Schwarzenegger at the book store
Too bad this place is a s*it hole now. I wouldn’t even drive onto the property
This was my childhood mall now its becoming a ghost mall 😔
Foleys!! I always shopped there for school clothes each year.
you were doing well
😷👍...
All malls in the city of Houston are ghetto. Not including galleria
Galleria, Baybrook and Memorial city are still thriving, but that's about it.
@@Dagger-Deep deerbrook mall is still kind of decent too

GunsPoint is a whole other story.
Galleria is the most ghetto one. You always hear about a shooting there every week.
Its better than Northwest Mall.
North West is gone
Northwest Mall shut down December 2021.
Almeda Mall needs to get better; then again, that'll take time lol
