  • Talk about an emotional movie going experience and #gulmohar checked off just the right boxes! I did not restrict myself this weekend however as I also saw #iratta and #masooda . These films really should be on your 'must watch list' . The #manojbajpayee and #sharmilatagore starrer is heartfelt, the #jojugeorge performance is exceptional and #telugu cinema really made a mark in the dying #horror genre! I hope you like the Gulmohar Movie Review, Iratta Movie Review & Masooda Movie Review

    Iratta man!🤯
The unpredictability throughout the movie and the gut wrenching end. My goodness! Joju outdid himself yet again. I came up with so many different storylines, but I could never have imagined something that tears your heart apart like that.
I love how they played with our mind, to know what and how the majority thinks, it feels like they've consulted a psychologist. The clues were always there, but they were so ignorably subtle, you would see them but be too involved in something that was put there to distract you.
    Bravo! Team Iratta.🔥🙌
Gulmohar is a beautiful experience. The biggest takeaway would be, you give love because you've been given love .♥️

He would now never be able to reunite with his daughter. 😔😔

One of the most underrated aspect of Gulmohar was the dynamics between Manoj Bajpayee & his cousin (Amol Palekar's son)..very warm & impactful despite a short screen time..the ensemble is just amazing, Manoj's son (Suraj Sharma, the Indian actor from How I met your father), the security guard (Jatin Goswami, who played a millionaire in The Great Indian Murder), Chandan Roy (Panchayat) etc apart from the major actors- Manoj, Sharmila, Amol & Simran..cried during a lot scenes (atleast 5 times)

It's kinda sad how amazing performances actors like Manoj Bajpai or pankaj tripathi gives they just never nominate them for best actor unless it's for national awards where we talk about oscars a lot and there they just don't nominate Ryan Reynolds or Dwayne Johnson because they are big stars. They simply nominate those who give the best performances over here which doesn't happen over here that much.

Iratta is yet another masterful flick from masterclass actor Joju George. The film starts with three gunshots and ends with your heart being scooped out by a devilishly clever storyline that mercilessly brings out the rawness and savagery lurking within us, a rawness and savagery locked inside each and everyone of us by a human society coloured by darkness and lightness hiding behind a grey world of human existence. Okay by now if you are totally confused by my writing, go watch this masterpiece. It will take you to places within your heart which you didn’t know existed.
The plot and sub plots are woven intricately, bringing every character uncomfortably and bitterly close to each other. One of the best horror movies I've ever watched. The good things about the movie are it has no unnecessary jump scares and no unnecessary jokes. We can enjoy the movie along with our family members as it doesn't contain any false language and adult scenes.
The story line is awesome unlike other horror dramas which only carry the same revenge type stories. If you love horror movies I will suggest you to watch this.

So many emotions weaved together. Each character brought so many different emotions and perceptions. Some of the dialogues were deep and brought tears, add to it some great acting and music.
After watching this you definitely want to see more of Sharmila Tagore.
The dialogue "You can't just wish for your child's happiness, you have to make them happy" and the fathers reply "you can give, because you have received" showed the different emotions and perceptions beautifully.

It is my belief that a film like Gulmohar should be released in theaters first, with a heavy promotional campaign similar to mainstream movies, in order to gauge audience response. Despite past failures, I feel that in the current climate, the film would perform well at the box office, and producers should not be hesitant to release it. With the changing habits of moviegoers post-Corona, people are more likely to buy tickets to see established actors like Manoj Bajpayee on the big screen. Imagine a movie like Gulmohar grossing 70-80 CR; I want to witness the day when all eyes are on actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi... THE UNDERDOGS

Loved Gulmohar - very much a companion piece to Monsoon Wedding. Simran is so underrated - after Kannathil Muthamittal, she finally gets another really wholesome meaty role to sink her teeth into. So glad she did this film - she really stood out for me! I did find Amu's storyline really weak - but without that, we wouldn't have had that cheeky ending for Sharmila's character....so I'll take it.

Manoj Bajpayee is truly a genius. Just put any character on him and he has done great job over the years. I think what fame he deserves hasn't got till now.
And what can we say about Sharmila ji. Just a comeback she always wanted or she deserves.
Gulmohar is a timeless movie which will engross you over the years.

I'm an aspiring filmmaker from Chennai who has been pitching a psychological horror thriller for months now with zero luck . The production houses turn you away the moment they hear you have a horror script with you 😞. Horror films , Pure Horror films have always had a higher success rate and yet producers shy away from it.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of Lapachhapi, I do think that they brought out genuine jumpscares for me in the first half. I think location and aesthetics are extremely important when we're talking about good horror films.
I'd really wish the creators could make good use of some of the great locations in the rural areas, especially with the loneliness creeping in at a farm.
Plus, our country is filled with ruins of old palaces, jungles, valleys that can be used. An eerie scenery is extremely important for a good horror movie just like they did with Tumbaad.
I love the horror genre and desperately wish for its revival in Indian Cinema.

Jammy, I really appreciate the way you give your views on the cinema beyond boundaries. Specially when it comes to the cinema from the South and you take the best attempt to pronounce the names. Just to help, the Joju George movie which you have called " Iratta" is pronounced as "Eerrtt" which means "darkness". Sorry to give a correction but I am one of the frequent visitors of your channel, who takes your movie reviews seriously and hence choose which to watch.. HATS OFF...

On your ending viewpoint on the dying horror genre in Indian cinema, I feel the reason being lack good production support the way Blumhouse does at a commercial scale and Shudder does at a small scale in Hollywood. Maddock films tried that with their "Stree"verse but again the problem is that there is too much focus on comedy than horror. We have brilliant folklore horror stories still unexplored and movies like tumbbad, churuli have just scratched the surface.

I agree with the horror genre not being explored enough knowing that our land has had exorcisms happen and stories of witchcraft also native forest stories in many states can be very interesting to watch if done with the intention of sending chills and not just entertain.

It's not that hard hitting like Kapoor and sons as they fall in the same genre. . But nevertheless, it was a soft, tender, bittersweet one. And me coming from a joint family can completely relate to dichotomy of the family situations.

We have a longstanding history of rich folklore and mythology which can be translated to the big screen. It is mostly the lackluster treatment which fails to grab the audience. Comedy is one genre which blends with every other genre, so you have horror comedy, thriller comedy... I too am a sucker for the horror genre. Cheers Jammy

We should have pure horror movies in Indian cinema, not just horror comedies,as India has a very rich culture and history, films like Kantara are not considered horror, but at least it explores the rich history and traditions of this country. Each part of the country has different stories to tell and explore. I would really love to watch a pure horror movie in a packed theater.
