The funniest short description of the three BTS rappers ever and it totally fits: Suga will straight up tell you you're sh_t, RM will explain to you why you're sh_t and J-Hope will tell you it's ok to be sh_t.

A Dad joke during Jin’s part was the most appropriate timing for it. Jin is the king of dad jokes. Love it!
This video doesn’t acknowledge the hate, adversity, and mental struggles they faced to make it this far.
Plus, they were homegrown using UA-cam logs to let ARMY in and show genuine care for their supporters.
Your awe of them will continue to grow as you not only realize they have talent but hearts of gold (or purple) to match. And they still do. Thanks! Please watch the other one.

Taylor Mari’s video gives a deeper view of the guys, not so focused on their commercial success like this one is. This one is rather “they’re great because they’re huge” while the other is “they’re huge because they’re great”. Definitely worth watching and I guarantee we will happily watch with you :)

Jimin is an extremely highly awarded martial artist in 5 separate & grueling fighting arts. Do not let his delicate beauty fool you. Dude is a bad ass holding 4 black belts & holds the highest accredation in the hard core contact Japanese fighting art of Kendo.

    • @mplahke
      @mplahke 8 місяців тому +1

Kendo is sword fighting, not hard body contact. He did kendo for eight years--told his mother he wanted to be the character Zoro from One Piece. I think that the black belt count is too inflated also--he didn't spend much time on hapkido or the chinese art.

The wooden sword & bamboo staff, do make contact , with you & your sparring partner. Now, if the participants of this sport, were not wearing heavily padded, tightly lashed bamboo body armor, the potential for serious injury & even death, are very easily concieved. Kendo , is very physical & stresses the use of various wooden & bamboo practice weapons, do make some pretty swift & hard contact with the body armor. You can hear , the very loud & abrupt, smacking & cracking of the mock weapons , upon the body armor, during heavy sparring sessions, or in professional demonstrations & tournaments , or hard core one on one sessions, between Masters .

The concept , of Kendo translated, means ,
" The Way of The Sword." It was developed as a way of training Samurai warriors, without death or mortal injury, being an occupational hazard, or risk to the combatants. So wooden & bamboo weapons, such as mock, wooden two handed swords, were used in the place of razor sharp steel blades. Now in the hands of a highly trained warrior , these wooden weapons, still have deadly potential & still can cause , very serious injury. The ranking system in Kendo, does not use a coloured belt system, to designate rank & ability of it's students.
It is a very involved & difficult writing excercise, that requires serious studying & a deep & precise understanding, of the sport, its origins, philosophies, rules of engagement , history , etc etc
The written test determines one's accredation & ranking , thru various levels of certifications & award systems.

The biggest mistake they made in this video was saying BTS had their sights set on dominating the US by releasing Dynamite. That is wrong. Dynamite only existed because their tour was cancelled due to covid. This, and their album BE, were projects they worked on while they couldn't perform and we all faced restrictions. It was made in English so more fans as well as the public could sing along and cheer up. It was a successful fluke!!💜

They can have an amazing influence on a person. I saw them on TV a couple of times, just a current song, around 2014 maybe and 2018, but there was no 'click' on my side.... But 2023, around February, I'd watched a couple of k-dramas, BTS began to filter in through the algorithms on my phone. I started to get a little interested, already I was in a tough mental state with things hanging over from Covid and various issues with the family. I saw Jin at the piano, performing Epiphany..and it was.. 'I have to love me'. I'd found my bolt-hole (rabbit hole!) to escape the things that bothered me.. and managed to lose a lot of weight physically, too (much needed!) I LOVE these guys! Every one of them is an absolute gem. I'm 65, wish I'd 'found them' earlier, but it's said you find them when you need them most (a lovely fan legend... but true?) And Suga has said something so unbelievably sweet, if you haven't come across this before, you'll love it: "You shouldn't feel bad that you weren't with us at the beginning...The day you found us was the day we debuted for you." Humble as ever. Thoughtful' loving and caring as ever.

Each member have already debuted there solo album. Jungkook is the last and youngest in the group to finish his album.
Each member had the freedom to do any kind of album they wanted to, Jungkook wanted a pop style album and the entire album is in English.
The group will be back together in 2025 everyone will finish military service by then.
Each BTS member did a solo album for the first time. Here is the members name, name of album and year album came out.
    1) J-Hope 2022* Jack ln The Box
    2) Jin* 2022 "ASTRONAUT" single song finishing album after discharge have military in 6/2024, he's the first to enlist.

@alifc1082 it's about known that part of their story. To understand a person you care about you care about their story. The good, the bad, the ugly, the growth, & the healing. As he journeys through the rabbit hole these past trials will be mentioned or revisited so it helps to know & understand the true stories that are being discussed.

@@alifc1082 I think it also gives some perspective to those meeting them as the powerhouse they are now. You're right, it shouldn't be to focus on the victimhood, but there are those who assume that they are where they are because they've had money and influence behind them (& disparage them for it). Hybe is now so big that it's hard for newcomers to understand the beginnings or recognize that Hybe is the house that BTS built. Honestly, if you can tell that story of the challenges overcome with less victim focus, I'd be happy to watch.

Although RM is the leader, he is not the oldest. I would say he is the middle child. Jin, Suga and J-Hope are older and Tae, Jimin and JK are younger. His position as leader is a testament in itself of his intelligence and talent. Age is still highly regarded in South Kores so for the older members to recognize RM leadership ability speaks for itself. He has a very high IQ and a natural gift for languages. As commented below, RM is fluent in English and other languages. That is why you see him as the spokesperson. However, JK and J-Hope are also studying English and the other members give speeches in English quite often.

15:46 remember in the beginning he said producer bang si-hyuk wanted to create a group young folks could relate to & look up to? So, According to J-Hope, the name signifies the group's desire "to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets". They later expanded on the name to mean "beyond the scene", This extended the meaning of their name to encompass the idea of growth "from a boy to an adult who opens the doors that are facing forward" , The youth who don't accept their current reality & follow their dreams etc. It all ties together 💜
Eta 21:15 many ARMYs will tell you to not watch American Hustle Life, because people disrespected them (plus production played a cruel prank on them) in the 1st couple episodes but it's really good...cringy? Absolutely but you get to see where BTS learned so much, & they still utilize those lessons til this day. If you watch the show (UA-cam, 8 episodes) you'd see the lead up and reasoning behind the very cringe warren g mv of boy in love. If you just watch that version of the mv it's soooo... Not great lol. Warren g was very respectful though and was so impressed by them he gave a track to Namjoon (RM) to see what kind of beats he'd lay on it.
32:19 Namjoon was chosen as leader for a multitude of reasons. He was the 1st member, he's incredibly intelligent with an IQ of 148 (genius level), & his opinions & ideas regarding music was well respected, even though he was really young. All the members love and respect him as leader, & Jungkook was so taken with Namjoon's charisma & talent that he joined tiny big hit even though companies from the Big 3 kpop companies offered him a spot as a trainee

I found SUGA first and then BTS November of 2023! I am laughing because like you, I also have a notebook with all my notes. I am 59 and have gone down the rabbit hole! Purchasing the albums and merchandise. Hubby is wondering if I lost my mind. LOL. He just needs to listen to the music I tell him and then he will understand. Love your content and so happy to have a shared experience. Midwest USA is where I’m from. I have not been this passionate about music since the wonderful 80’s music scene. ARMY!!!!!!

I'm glad you chose this one because it introduces you to the whole group. You have all the time in world to learn about the members and their solo stuff later on. A good video would be "This is BTS" by XCeleste. It's rather short and has voice over but you'll learn a bit more about them as a group on a personal level. And the "BTS Hardships (2013-2021)" from XCeleste as well - to see the other sude of the coin 💜
Koreans put their last names first. So RM's first name is Namjoon and his last name is Kim. In American format he would be called Namjoon Kim. Same for the others, of course!
The problem with American Hustle Life is that it's really cringe on certain points, but it's still fun to watch. The 2 first episodes are really off putting because they pulled a kidnapping prank on the guys. JK was only 16 back then. And some of them were really terrified. As well as the infamous world-class prick known as Dante - one of their supposedly "mentors" on the show. He got kick off for being uncooperative, rude and disrespectful as hell (he literally hit Jin with a plushie to shush him). Other than that, the show is fun. But there's a whole section where they told them to pick up girls on the streets to shoot an MV...by flirting with them. The guys were mostly uncomfortable doing it and most of them just tried to recruit them normally. And then they shot the MV where they were supposed to act like though guys with pretty girls - they were even more uncomfortable. The whole MV is super cringe because you can feel it's not like them at all. But this is part of what makes BTS different. They did actually learned about hip-hop from Americans and legendary artists and know about its cultural aspects
RM is indeed the leader of BTS and usually is the spokesperson in interviews - especially the US since he's the only fluent in English.

Tiny correction... Muster hasn't always been held on ARMY birthdays, because "muster" is a military word for the troops to gather together (to be counted and usually preparatory for an attack), so, very appropriate for ARMY, regardless of date.

Rm is super intelligent with an iq of 148. He has total leader/alpha vibes. Combine that with his intelligence, is the reason why he is the leader of the group even though he is 4th oldest. You haven’t had the chance to listen to this man talk yet. He is wise beyond his years. Listening to him talk makes me think so much more about myself and what I’m doing. Then seeing the lyrics or the messages behind their songs….hits you in your soul.
There’s a reason why we call this man our President. If he lead the world, we’d be in a much better place.

I burst out laughing when you said “ there are rules you need to follow “, hilarious! American Hustle Life was very good experience for them. Warren G was very good to them. Coolio was a bit harsh with V at their first meeting but it was teach him and the rest of the members to take this opportunity seriously. The first night the TAH team pranked them and scared the hell out of them. Also one guy from TAH was rude and almost hit Jin and he was removed from further working with them. The BTS members did very well, worked very hard and learned a lot and the team of TAH told them at the end that they were the best they ever worked with.

Going back through the few I missed and found this one...I can SO relate.
I have been listen to BTS since the beginning (long story), had some of their music on my computer thanks to several of my kids.
August - 2020 - Dynamite. That little "bang". Jimin. I was HOOKED.
I had heard everything from my kids, but wanted to experience it myself...so...that first week? All I can say is thank goodness I'm a stay at home mom! I think I got all of 2 hours of sleep the first week...literally.
    Then....I heard about the conversation...
Youngest (only one still at home): "I finally got mom into BTS!"
    Middle Child: "Cool."
    They talked a bit more.
Middle child talked to me. I was quoting facts, reciting key lines (in Korean), talking about specific interviews, award shows, etc.
Middle child talked to Youngest again: "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO OUR MOTHER????"
    LMAO

Just a quick note - when their real names are given here they put the family name first, then their first (or personal) name.
Also, if you want more updated information - and information that looks at the guys individually - I would recommend a video that came out in March. A Helpful Guide To BTS: The 7 Members Of Bangtan (2024 Update) by Purple Snow. It is 1 hour 28 minutes, but contains a lot of information. It is more up to date than Taylor Mari's (which is 2 years old - and was my go to recommendation); and deserves a lot more recognition than it's getting so far - because it is good. And Purple Snow is also planning to do detailed introductions for each member, with RM as her starting point.
American Hustle Life is quite a good show, but it does have it's cringy moments - especially in the first couple of episodes. Warren G was good with BTS - and RM has worked with him since. Coolio however... Lets just say he was a little hard on V. But Miss Iris more than made up for that. And they did learn a lot, made good contacts, and friends.

RM is the official Leader of the group. The group was literally built around him as the leader from the beginning. He interfaces with the public and between the company and the guys, as well as mediates disputes between the guys. The rappers are definitely the leaders together. j-hope is the dance leader and RM calls j-hope the "real" leader, the behind-the-scenes leader and emotional center of BTS. All of them were crying when they said goodbye to j-hope when he went to do his military service. Suga is the main producer in the group. Between the 3 of them they have released 9 of the 12 solo albums of the members (3 each.) All of them were signed around the same time.

When I was first getting to know BTS I definitely made the Prince to Jimin connection. They both are gender-benders and super charismatic on stage. I appreciate that BTS often wears clothes that were originally designed for women, or come from gender-neutral or queer designers. They discussed that their BT21 characters should not have gender. They make their fandom a welcoming, inclusive and safe space for everyone. So much to check out - they appear twice on The Late Show w James Cordon in Carpool Karaoke and Crosswalk Concert (though you will probably have to blur a lot show on YT based on what I've seen other reactors do). CK was my entry to the rabbit hole after seeing them on Saturday Night Live over a year earlier. P.S. Do your journey your own way! You're a lot of fun to watch. Love the notebook!
