Respectfully, I 1000% disagree on your take on the evolution of their music. They have from the very first single, always created music from their own stories, thoughts and truth. Go listen to the kpop releases around May/June/July 2013 and then listen to No More Dream. They couldn't have been more different if they tried. There's even vlogs of RM and the others saying how the album and music is honestly their feelings and thoughts about life and music. BTS has ALWAYS been true to themselves and their music.
I don't feel there was ever a time BTS was creating music based on what they thought people wanted to hear. BigHit allowed them to write & create their own music that the guys wanted to put out there and that's what they did.
Yes THIS!
YES
I totally agree when they were saying that I was shaking my head no no no that's not it!
If you want to see something truly informational, there is an indepth UA-cam series called "The Rise of Bangtan". It is ongoing (17 chapters so far) and is the deepest dive into understanding their journey you will find. I really think every BTS reactor should watch it (and trust me ARMY will want to watch it again with you...it's that good!). Thanks for your reaction.
yes please watch that
Oh yess. It's so good!
Yesss please! worth it every second. And please watch until the end of vid. 🥰
this^^^ its so informative on their journey so far
Yes, Rise of Bangtan has a good documentary of the boys. :)
I'm Korean and I will attest to what you've said in this video. The South Korean education system is one of the hardest education systems in the world. Students are expected to study from morning to late into the night from middle school to end of high school. This is one of the many reasons South Korea has a bad reputation with high suicide rates in the country.
Oh yea.. I heard about it.. 💔 this is so sad but truth.. A life is more important than A good Grade.. the parents/society should understand that. A human is no Robot.
As an Asian, there are so many countries that are extremely harsh on students and it’s crazy. My school/college timings are 8am-7pm without sports or any activities!!
It’s actually the pressure from society(parents, teachers, relatives, peers) that drives u insane rather than these ridiculous study hours.
@@harika_9399 💔💔😢
I was planning to go to Korea and persue my further studies there (my Uni's). But damn! after what you said, I'm lowkey scared.
In Korea they value their culture. We have a lot of foreign students from Korea to study in the Philippines to learn English. Not only they learn English, but they learn the Philippines culture as well. In Korea, you have to study hard means studying
from morning to night.
Bts is out of K-pop’s league they’re legends
fax, no prints
They have been given the creative freedom to write their songs since the very beginning right from their heart. Not just in recent years. I don’t think they have ever put out music in the perspective of what people wanted to hear. Bang PD has said that right from the beginning when they started the group, he has emphasized for them to write what they feel and tell their own stories right from the beginning until today.
Yes and I think that's what makes them different too from other groups.
You should watch the updated version it continues from Nov 20th, 2020 when BE was released until this year. BTS has accomplished so so much since then and it's impressive since we are still in the pandemic but that didn't stop them.
And fixed some misinformation that he put in the first one. Very frustrating to see the guys' info spread incorrectly once again. Wish he'd just take the first one down.
@@HadassaMoon144 lol those accounts wont take it down. It's why I'm happy the Rise of Bangtan series is a thing, but sadly the general public will stumble upon misinformation first.
yeah, they got even more huge and accomplished so much during the pandemic, holy shit. lol, hitting multiple peaks. they only happen once a generation
Here is the link to the updated 2021 version... ua-cam.com/video/48Tc_Y2U0Tg/v-deo.html
@@HadassaMoon144 true, it still has some incorrect info, but the updated version at least fixes most of the jarring misinformation their first video has. It's a shame they don't take down the first video or at least disclaim that there's an updated version now in the first video (like maybe put it in the title if they don't want to take the video down).
In my opinion reacting to albums in chronological order is the best. You can experience the growth of Bts xx
ikr
Lolll the song in the back ground isn’t “life goes on” it’s a song called “butterfly” and you guys should do Who is BTS: The seven members a Bangtan! it’s not long and it’s gives a good quick idea of everything
Even Ida S An Introduction to 7 Members of BTS is good cuz its quite recent. Who is BTS video is pretty old.
@@samie6026 I know! But sometimes its kinda nice when they start at that point. I remember being a army and that video coming out. It just gives basic info but nothing toooo “deep”. Let them see a different side of bangtan.
@@ohmaimaimai2932 Thats true tho:) It was one of my favourites too those days too.
ikr ..
Up
I love Asian Theory's doting story telling, but I believe his documentary is a tad simplified and sanitized. For BTS's entire history they have suffered a disproportionate number of hardships from false accusations, prejudice, disproportionate hate, and anticompetitive practices, all the way up to having an entire arena emptied due to death threats. The BTS story is one of overcoming, not simply a story of progressively greater popularity with each album release. And it is a story of ARMY and ARMY's relationship to BTS's success. This also is conspicuously missing.
So I hope you might watch XCeleste's updated BTS hardship video which proceeds chronologically and provides a balance to what is in my mind clearly missing here. No shade to Asian Theory. I love him. He is informative and entertaining. But I think his presentation needs the balance XCeleste provides to paint a more realistic picture.

Halsey developed a beautiful and genuine friendship with BTS (even before their song came out) and she is one of the feircest defenders and supportors of the boys.
I think they were always honest about their music and the messages they wanted to send. They were young, so as BTS grew up, their music also evolved to match that growth. And with all the hard work, experiences and his own talent, his music has been getting better and better anytime 💜
the evolution as you stated, bts music has always been from the heart. as a young band, kids grow up thus bts has matured and became young men.
Facts:
#BTS is the 1st band in history to earn 5 number 1 debut it Billboard Hot 100
#BTS achieves of the six (6) number 1 hit on Billboard Hot 100 among all artist since the Beatles (1964-1966)
#BTS is the artist with the most number #1 hits on Billboard Hot 100 in the 2020s decade (6)
#My Universe become the first collaboration with 2 lead groups to reached #1 on Billboard Hot 100 (Coldplay & BTS)
ETC... ETC...
As for the mandatory military service for south Koreans, able bodied men ages 18-28 have to serve for 18 months. They can pick what age they go in, but it has to be no later than 28. Not sure what will happen to BTS, they got an exception that they can wait til 29 or 30? (Not super sure idr exactly as I haven't heard about it in awhile) but kpop idols have to have been awarded the order of cultural merit to qualify for that exemption (which only BTS has, as it is one of the hardest to get) Jin was supposed to go in this year, he's 28, but he got it delayed due to getting the order of cultural merit from president Moon. (ARMYs correct me if you know better/more, I'm also not Korean so idk a lot about it) 💜 ETA: BTS has never tried to get out of it, they say when their time comes they will serve proudly. Also I get you when you said at the end about all the different things involved in kpop made you look for it in other, non kpop songs, well for me most western music just doesn't do it for me anymore, I mostly only to kpop now because the rest is just missing something for me. Plus the mv's are boring when compared to the dancing, visuals and cinematography of BTS/kpop in general. If that made sense.
BTS is allowed to postpone their enlistment until age 30 if they choose to. The law goes by international age and Jin is currently 28.
@@crystalsnow1138 💜
Jin hasn't delayed anything. Technically, under the current law and without any exceptions, Jin would be legally obligated to go _this_ year before his 29th international birthday (btw, other idols in the past have also waited just before their 29th b-day to go, one even waited a week before his 29th b-day too, so it seems like the deadline is before a man turns 29, internationally).
The new law may allow Jin to wait until his 30th international b-day (or maybe, any time before his 31st b-day if it follows how the regular mandate works), but no one has said anything abt what Jin's plans are yet.
@@em5522 thx, that's what I meant but I worded it poorly. You're right, Jin himself didn't delay, or ask for an exception. I tried to say that while he was supposed to go this year, because of the new law about the order of cultural merit he doesn't *have* to go this year. You said it better though lol so ty 💜
You want to know more deeply about BTS, watch THE RISE OF BANGTAN. Your questions will be answered including the educational system you want to know about and the connection with their song. The documentaries are fan made and still ongoing. You will feel the members' feeling more. Very raw.
I like the analogy of basketball to how a group of "nobodies" were recruited based on a potential that, perhaps they themselves weren't even fully aware of. My husband is a basketball fan and coach, and he would say that character and skills go hand-in-hand in making the team work together.
I can't leave bts NEVER.🤘💜🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Louder than bombs it’s dark and moody and totally epic
Respectfully, their music wasn't forced or meant to appeal to what others wanted. The physical aspect, like their styles and clothing, etc, I do think were stereotypical and they were trying in that regard. But as far as the actual music itself, it was definitely still coming from their genuine thoughts and feelings. That's one thing I love about them, even when they were still figuring themselves out their music was still them
Hey guys! I just have to say I think the original IMAGE of BTS was what they thought people wanted to SEE, but the actual music has always come from a genuine place. No More Dream openly criticized Korean society and the education system as well as N.O. and for them to do that so early in their career shows that they couldn’t care less what people wanted to hear, they just wanted to share their viewpoint as kids who had to grow up in such a rigid environment. No other group or artist was putting out anything close to that because it was seen as “controversial” and their labels wouldn’t have allowed them to make such music because unlike BTS who has always been encouraged to freely write their songs about what they’re feeling, most labels don’t give creative freedom to their artists. 💜💜💜
Actually no more dream has a deep message, they were criticizing society , grown ups and the education system
BTS literally healed me. during those 2 months i had to rest due to anxiety causing me fatigue, numbness, headache.i don't know anyone from bts.till they just showed up in my youtube recommendation and heard Magic Shop.. its like magic the moment i start listening to them, then watching their interviews, award receiving then i start watching Run BTS,In the Soop... now i dont have to take my medicines anymore.. their songs make me feel alive.and I'm thankful that a group of angel like them came to my life.. and I loke your reaction guys.. you're on point. congrats!
I never get tired watching how BTS rise to superstardom . I always want to remember their humble, hardship beginning ❤️❤️❤️
Ya'll need to listen to the rapline song Tear, also House of Cards live version, bts Home, Save me , dionysios, louder than bombs, RM Persona, RM Love, Jimin Lie and Filter . Jungkook My Time, euphoria and begin etc.. they have sooo many great songs
BTS from the start wrote their music from their own experiences. thats why they started the school trilogy, then developed from there as they grew up. CEO Bang always told them to be true to themselves. i suggest you listen from the debut album til the recent album, chronologically. so you'll see their evolution. this video was the success story of BTS without mentioning their hardships, which was A LOT! ARMYs who were there for BTS from the start are amazing!! thanks for listening to BTS!
26:48 it's their song Butterfly. It's a beautiful song. I listen to it to feel calm. Hope you listen to it and check the lyrics.
The very first single put BTS apart.
No more Dreams was critical of society and their attitudes towards adolescents.
NO was critical about their education system.
They were definitely not doing the usual stuff.
In fact CEO Bangpd told them he won't interfere as long as they expressed their own story, their feelings in their song.
SO IT IS WRONG TO SAY..... AT FIRST THEY DID USUAL STUFF ONLY NOW THEY ARE DOING WHAT THEY WANT.
Guys, if you haven’t done Blood, Sweat, and Tears, you have missed an incredible MV! I will also plug Black Swan in case you haven’t done it.
thanks for the reaction, their history as a group is very interesting and this was a great and brief introduction to their story 👍🏾
Everyone in BTS are very proud Koreans, and have publicly stated multiple times that they want to serve in the Military. I think it's the government holding it off now, because BTS has given South Korea so much economic gains as musicians. Honestly, it's up to them, and it's none of our business. Real Armys will support them no matter what.
Thank y'all so much for this guide reaction! Other videos that give more background info and more of their individual personalities, please consider reacting to Who Is BTS: The Seven Members of Bangtan. Another great one is From Nobodies to Legends (there are 3 versions, the newest being the 2019 one so you can do that one if you'd like to). I enjoy your honest and genuine reactions and appreciate you getting to know BTS and their journey more 😊💜
26:42 the song is "Butterfly"
I'm glad you are sincere in trying to get to know BTS. I was once a hater, but after studying their lyricism I fell in love with them. Them promoting self-love alone is great. You just don't know the stories of ARMYs whose lives were saved by their music.
A good follow up and react to video of BTS HARDSHIPS 2013-2021 by XCeleste.See their struggles and what makes their success today more meaningful.Welcome to rabbit hole.
There's a really good video for each member info: "An Introduction to BTS Members 2021 Update by Ida S.". its delves deeper and stays away from stereotypes used by other introduction videos.
There’s an updated version of this video too 💜💜💜
Every single song on MOS7 is awesome. You can’t loose. Filter, My Time, Black Swan, On, UGH. Thank you for watching this. Also XCeleste has a video out about them overcoming the hardships they faced that other groups did not face.
What i like about BTS' music and their music videos is that you could be a fan that was there from the begining and followed their journey yet for the most part when rewatching their videos and watchibg reactors see their stuff for the first time youll always find or notice something new or someone will point out something you havent seen before..... They leave clues and hidden easter eggs in their vids either to be cohesive and connect to previous vids or as a fun little homage to their other works.
My cousin is a half korean and I can clearly sum up the things she told me about Korean edu system.
it's so competitive that the pressure given to the students are so heavy and unbearable. No wonder why korea has the most number of suicide rates
There is an updated version of this video. The Asian Theory updated to 2021. Thank you for your reaction to this video.
There is a rumor they said that bighit was unsure jimin's debut, even the day before their debut day, he still have chance to get cut🤣🤣 But yes, jimin proved himself, and become one of the top famous member in the group.
Alot of people don't realize that Jin came into Bighit to be an actor but Bang PD "I really don't like that man" convinced him that even though he wanted him to be a singer, he would still get an opportunity to act. Well we are still waiting.
The song in the background was Butterfly
Really enjoyed your reactions and your insightful views on topics to do with society and the music industry. I myself have just recently became known to the world of K-POP and BTS’s music has raised my expectations of music so high. The way they express the issues within society, to the way their music comforts people is truly extraordinary and I believe that is what a true artist should aim to achieve.
I have just recently became a fan of BTS but I personally would recommend the songs-Interlude: Shadow, Dionysus, Mikrokosmos, Friends, Best of Me, Heartbeat and Butterfly.
There are some things that were corrected in the updated one of this intro video, and some things that were not corrected.
- JK was only 12 when he auditioned for Superstar K. He joined bighit at 13 and at time of debut, he was 15.
J-Hope was auditioning for a dance competition HOSTED by JYP, contestants got access to select dance rooms and whatnot. He never auditioned for JYP in the 'I want to become an Idol' sense. It was when his team won that competition that he was encouraged to audition as a dancer, which he did.
I recommend Rise of Bangtan. It's a longer docu series, but it's worth it since it shows the comparison of how typical K-pop artists go about training and things, and how BTS went about training and making their music. You get insight to them, and even to a little bit of the bad stuff they had to go through. The series isn't over yet, but there's already 17 parts. Most ARMYs and fans like this series as it gives you a bit better insight.
Of course every intro video has its good parts and can provide more info. Thanks for the reaction💜💜
Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about this amazing group. Please react to more BTS.
If you enjoyed this guide, then I would highly highly recommend The Rise of Bangtan. It's highly informational about their journey. Check it out.
They deserve what they have couz they worked so hard day and night✨♥️
9:00 artists under JYP include: Stray Kids, ITZY, Twice, Sunmi (formerly), GOT7 (formerly), Day6, 2PM, 2ne1 (formerly). they’re known as one of the biggest and most successful companies in kpop along with SM and YG. NCT, EXO, SHINee, Red Velvet etc are under SM and groups like Blackpink, iKon, BigBang, and Winner are under YG.
The more knowing BTS the more love BTS.
I would just love to say thank you so much for all of your efforts. You have treated us today with so much content, and it can’t be easy. I love hearing your thoughts and opinions and seeing you discover more music. I hope you and everyone watching is having a good day or night, wherever you are in the world 🥰
Not that you'd have to react to it... but there IS an updated version of this video that includes the info about Life Goes On etc... :)
It's also because of their interaction with their fans and their personalities ! Just watch Run BTS , they are absolutely hysterical it's like if they wasn't singers and dancers they could have easily became comedians or actors!
I love their evolution and feel they shared it all from their heart....their struggles/relate during that period. During the early time...they struggle with the society expectations and rebelling against it.....bravo in evolution...growth and maturity
Groups that are signed to JYP are TWICE, Stray Kids, Itzy as well as a couple other groups that are pretty successful. GOT7 just left JYP because they had been mistreated by the company for years. But BLACKPINK is signed to YG Ent. the company that Bang Si-Hyuk got inspiration from for BTS
No, Bang and JYP were roommates in the US from the 90s for 10 years then Bang joined JYP as a producer when he launched his company. He left JYP in 2005 to found Big Hit
Its easy to think of BTS' as a "story" and if they have one its They Changed The Game. BTS' rapline wrote a lot of their early work. While they didn't have much control of their "look". they did write bangers and built a fanbase from their sincerity and not taking themselves very serious. They are the perfect antidote to all the phonies __ out there.
Thank you. This was a great guide. I haven’t seen it because it’s new. It’s comprehensive and concise.
From Love Yourself albums, the songs I think you’d like are: DNA, Best of Me, Dimple, GoGo, Singularity, Magic Shop, Airplane part 2, Anpanman, Tear, Euphoria, Serendipity, Seesaw, I’m Fine. You’ve already reacted to: Mic Drop, Idol, Fake Love
Basketball fan here 🙋♀️ I was rooting for Pistons that time as well. Always been a fan of well-balanced underdog teams just like BTS.
I like this guide best. I like the ones that show their personalities as well but it feels like this really just breaks down their journey in a more realistic way.
If you would like a updated version of who each member is and more about them now Ids S. created a awesome video named "A Introduction To BTS!!!" It isn't a ling dragged out video either. I am truly enjoying seeing you two truly fall into the BTS rabbit hole!!! Enjoy!! 💜💜
The Korean government is still in negotiations about the mandatory military service for BTS even though BTS didn’t ask for it.
Correction regarding jhope and JYP. He never auditioned for them. He attended a competition organised by JYP, and he won it too. But it was never an audition to join JYP.
This is my favorite intro to BTS. I are so happy to watch it with you. 💜💜
If you want to know much indepth info about BTS, KPOP and Korean culture in general, try watching The Rise of Bangtan docu-series..... currently it has 17 episodes excluding the deleted scenes and bonus scenes; and it is still on going.
Here is the link for episode 1

Excited for you to listen to their albums. And may I add, even when I'm not ARMY (and i've listened to a lot of kpop grps since 2008) , i could say BTS HAS THE BEST DISCOGRAPHY. I know it's subjective, just my opinion.
This totally ignored points that set them apart like run bts and talk shows that really brought us into their home and we feel a connection seeing them have fun and relax
New groups yes indeed can learn from this also to keep in mind they started when they were teens and grew up ad a team.
If you want to know about Korean Education you have to see the first episode of rise of bantang. You will understand a lot about bts first songs
Thank you for the reaction. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I forgot to request a reaction video of the song louder than bombs from the Map of The Soul 7 album. Since you asked. I think you guys would like that song. Ty!
This the best reaction of all BTS’s from you two 💜💜💜
Watch the information from XCeleste she really has some good documentaries from BTS. She also made the very first documentary of BTS also the updated versions. She's a true ARMY.
there is an updated video, he added the continuation when BE was already released up until BUTTER. u shud watch that...
They are definitely allowed to talk about mandatory military service whether they agree with it or not. It’s South Korea, not North Korea (For North Koreans, btw, conscription lasts for at least 10 years and also includes women). DKDKTV also talk about this subject a lot and interview people on the streets of Seoul every year or so. There is definitely a range of feelings and emotions about the subject, but one thing that I really notice as an outsider is that it just seems to be a normal thing. It’s just part of the culture that they are used to. You grow up knowing that all men, sometime between 18-28 (30 for BTS) will be off to spend 18 months in service. It’s just the norm so it doesn’t seem as foreign as it does to a lot of westerners. I know Taemin has been enlisted since May. It is a worry that a lot of kpop stars have, having to halt a successful career for 18 months. There are some Korean actors that enlist as early as possible so they won’t have to enlist just as their career may be taking off. Probably not as common for idols considering many of them start before the age they are even eligible for enlistment.
An introduction to the 7 members of bts by ida s 2021 update, V Inner child lyrics than live, Jimin filter live with lyrics and Jungkook My Time lyrics than live

please react to THE RISE OF BANGTAN series.. it has 17 episodes now💜💜
Great video. Thank you guys! I’m so proud of our BTS 💜💜💜
I LOVE YOU BTS FOREVER 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
BTS are very unique. Rappers can sing and show case their vocals. Same as their vocalist, they can sing and rap. If you want to hear V's baritone voice please react to Singularity and if you want to hear his high notes, please react to Stigma.
It was supposed to be 28,and then a new law is made making the age to 30 but many are opposing this law because it seems that the law is only favorable to BTS. And one of the group Jin will be 30 this coming December.
CNBlue front man Jung Yunghwa completed his military service. They just released a mini album Wanted.
Ahaaa... finally I see Higher Faculty watch/react to "Beautiful Life Goes On' BTS

I'm grateful that channels like that and xCeleste are so hardworking making guides, but man, the editor in me cringes so hard at awkward writing and misinformation. 😭😭😭
You guys do a great job. Enjoy your content and honesty.
hey, there is an updated version to this video... i hope you check it out. 💜 the last part of the updated version is Permission to Dance
Jimin and v were bff in school before being together in the group
I believe the background music at around 27:00 is Butterfly
You should react to the updated 2021 theres a lot of information there
The song in the background was butterfly @26:00min +
Nice reaction this is a good guide and from map of the soul 7 album i recommend louder than bombs
In America you volunteer for the military in Korean is mandatory you got to go .
Louder then Bombs or Interlude: Shadow are my favorite MOTS:7 songs outside of the main singles (Black Swan and On)
Dude the korean education is HARSH. I mean korean Japanese chinese Asian education I remember going to school at 8 and ending the school at 9:30-10:00 PM because there is extra lessons from 6:00 to 10:00 PM sometimes the extra lessons can take up to 11:00 PM then I will go home and do some more homework we can learn Chinese, English, or Japanese as a second language in Korea. The average korean school day is around 12-16 not going to lie. I do know 2 people who committed suicide but I don’t know them personally a friend of a friend and one of them is friend of my cousin. And when they die, no one really say anything about it in school like nothing f*ckin happened. The topic is avoided and I was so depressed but everyone else seems to be ok. In the early days BTS talk about the education knowing that this is a extremely sensitive topic and lots of people getting mad on them for criticizing the system but like there is a huge problem about it so they receive quite some backlash from this. BTS is a few who actually write their lyrics and alsways talk about social issue like back when they were almost blacklisted by the former South Korean president for talking about the sewol tragedy where so many high schoolers were killed and the former impeached president tries to cover it up. The song spring day have a lot of hidden meanings inside to avoid blacklisted. Don’t forget RM have an IQ of 148 and he is the top student from his school he ranked in the top 1% or correctly top 1.3% score in South Korea. To be honest it is true (it might sound offensive) but I lived in America and western countries before but it is true the Koreans students are generally more educated of course they don’t really know about the the history of race and etc because Korea is a homogeneous country meaning almost everyone is Asian like 98 percent. It is not surprising korea Japan and China have the highest suicide rates for students and even employees once they study so hard when they work they work non stop there even is a famous suicide forest where people do the deed there. So to answer you question, yes the korean education is hell. Productive actually very productive but hell. One very good video to watch. A little bit long but can watch in separate parts is: “the writing styles of BTS” by mera
I am Turkish, and what you guys teach kids in high school in US are taught in 5th and 6th grade in my country.
There's an updated version of this video . Please watch The Rise of Bangtan. You'll get to know them and what they have gone through from the start.
Great reaction!
There's so many good songs I really don't know where to start but I'll try. On Map of the Soul 7, I love Suga's Shadow.
Outro Tear with just the rappers written by Suga during a time they were thinking about disbanding is great. The live performance is their best in my opinion.
Jungkook's Euphoria live at the Rose Bowl or Wembly is really great.
One song you may want to check out is Spring Day if you haven't. When you said them talking about the strictness of the education system that song comes to mind first.
Speaking against something the government mishandled was very risky at the time. You will definitely have to watch Spring Day Explanation. It will explain why it is still on the charts 4 years later.
Side note, BTS wasn't huge like they are now but addressed it anyway and gave financial support to the family of the victims.
BTS behind the scenes Difficult, Tired, and Pressured by BTS Stan shows how hard they work.
frfr they got that '04 pistons vibe i feel u on dat
They have a 2021 updated of this one
