    The issue is not Rosemary versus minoxidil. The issue is that Mielle changed their formulation once they were bought out and that’s when people start reporting their hair falling out

      I don't mess with diy but as long as you know what you're doing it can be beneficial. It makes a lot of sense for something that has like 20 ingredients to clog the scalp and cause hair loss. The scalp needs to breathe and all those oils combined are probably comedogenic

      That’s one formula. Some people make it by simmering the rosemary plant in the carrier oil and storing it for a period of time. This is a blend though. It’s rosemary mint. And since it’s commercial, they’ve probably added other ingredients to increase the shelf life, etc. Different strokes for different folks.

      Yeah, but rosemary oil for hair growth isn’t totally proven by science yet. A few small studies look promising-it’s been shown to help with thickness and even compares to minoxidil for some people. It’s thought to improve blood flow to the scalp and reduce irritation, but we still need more solid research to really confirm how well it works and for whom.

    • @tracieroy9044
      @tracieroy9044 7 днів тому +4

      @mags2847 I hope you don't think the everything on the shelves in-store is scientifically proven to work. Not even in pharmaceuticals is everything scientifically proven to work. They find that 1 thing that may have 30% efficacy and you'll have 100 side effects. Not everything is for everyone.

    • @mags2847
      @mags2847 7 днів тому +2

      @@tracieroy9044 of course not! all I'm saying is that rosemary isn't an holy grail like people claim it to be. Something like minoxidil or ketoconazole, for example, has more robust scientific backing for certain hair concerns. So, while rosemary might offer some benefits, it’s good to keep realistic expectations and consider options that are more extensively researched.

I fell for the hype of this mielle oil and used it as a scalp treatment pre shampoo. I absolutely hated it. I got seborreic dermatitis after this; just felt like it completely disturbed my scalp’s skin barrier if that’s such a term (I know for the face it is) any how. Really don't need all of those products. Try only water and protective styles. Products irritate the entire body not just the scalp. Our bodies produce enough oils even on the scalp.❤

    I bought that oil a few months ago and it said to use it everyday. I used it every 2 weeks or so. I use black castor oil. I use this on the b/f’s already bald head.

    If it’s not black owned or 100% natural and organic, I don’t put it in my hair. I don’t expect people who see us as a cash cow to have an interest in protecting our health. So once I found out Mielle was sold, I stopped purchasing their products.

    I could be wrong, but if I'm not mistaken with Minoxidil (and whatever other names it goes by), if you stop using it your hair reverts back to the state it was in before you started using it--so that would mean it's reverting back to the balding and/or thinning that you were trying to stop in the first place.
    So make sure before you commit to it you will always be able to buy it/ afford it and keep up with using it.

      It depends on type of hair loss, if you have chronic telogen effluvium due to nutritional deficiencies, you can leave minoxidil once you get desired results. If you have androgenic alopecia, it's risky leaving but you can add a dht blocker and reduce minoxidil slowly with time than abruptly leaving. Minoxidil is a vasodilator, increases blood circulation and makes supply of nutrients and oxygen available more to follicles. So when you leave minoxidil, this process of increased circulation is stopped, hence your hair goes back to same state as it was exactly when you started minoxidil. It's like doing exercise to lose weight, once you stop exercising, all weight you lost, you won't gain immediately but you will gain with time

      I never knew that hair loss remedies and how to use them have different effects depending on what's causing the hair loss in the first place.

    If your hair isn’t growing as fast as you want it to focus on caring for your lengths and learning all the ways you can prevent breakage. Unless you have a medical condition preventing hair growth or causing hair loss you don’t need to focus on trying to get your hair to grow faster it’s because your hair is breaking off at the ends.
    Get a solid shampoo and conditioner for your hair type. Leave a little conditioner in the ends don’t rinse it all out. Mask every so often. Use a leave-in conditioner spray product then detangle very gently working ends to roots. Make sure you use proper heat protectant with the right technique. Blow dry cream for blow drying. Heat spray for irons. Oil as your last step. And no your oil doesn’t protect from heat damage oil will make the damage worse.
    On top of this.. if you rub your towel all over your head to dry it stop. Press the towel into your head! Don’t rub. Or use an old tshirt for even more damage prevention.
    Only cut the ends when you start to have a lot of tangling, minimum 6 months if you want to see growth. Your hair grows about a 1/2 inch per month so if you aren’t seeing that length every month you can probably make adjustments to your hair care routine to start seeing length!
    Check out the blowout professor on UA-cam for more tips that channel is a hairstylist/salon owner specializing in hair care specifically to have healthy hair and gain length.

    That really is a lot of oils. And a lot of oils that may cause irritation or that your particular skin or hair may not like. My hair hates coconut oil. If it's one of the top 5 ingredients, I'm in for a bad time. Same with keratin.
    I've personally found that argan oil and a simple, short ingredient list works best for me.

    There is so much mixed information out there with dermatologists on rosemary oil and it is very confusing. I understand that the Mielle oil has a plethora of natural ingredients that can potentially be inflammatory to the scalp on some, but what about Rosemary oil mixed with a carrier oil? I want more information on it. Because I feel these videos promote fear of using Rosemary oil without giving much information as to why, and not everyone has a bad reaction to Rosemary oil. It is very confusing.

      Pure rosemary oil with a carrier oil (such as coconut or castor out for example ) will work I think he’s referring to the Mielle brand itself which has changed it’s formula
      Just would never ever use minoxidil ever again live and learn I guess - I wish my dermatologist had never recommended it

    I cut my rosemary bush, simmer no more than 20 mins., strain it, freeze the bulk of it in ice cube trays. I have a little brown glass spray bottle I keep it the fridge and replenish with the frozen. I have had a lot of fallout my whole life. When I used it 1-2 times a week , I had the most growth I've ever had in my life. Grew it 5 inches beyond what I could normally. My hair almost completely stopped shedding.

    Some people just have problems with the health of their scalp and adding oils just suffocates the follicle probably making an already existing issue, worse. Figure out the health of the scalp before using any of this stuff.

    Mielle irritates my scalp terribly. I don’t get the hype. Every time I’ve tried to restart using it, I suffer with the most itch and irritation of my scalp for about 2 to 3 months. Additionally, my scalp would get very sensitive with a little burning. It only happens after I use Mielle; it doesn’t happen any other time, which made me realize it must be this product line. After 3 attempts, I have determined that the product is not for me.
