Hello! Thank you for this thoughtful guide. What do you do with the width measurement? It seems like you didn't actually use it for anything... Is there guidance for narrow, regular, or wide based off of width measurement?
Personally I have mixed feelings about width, with a good insole your foot won't overpronate as much and the length is what is important. People who flatten out too much get a wider shoe and that just let's them flatten out even more
This is a bit confusing, I watched both your videos and you measured your foot to be 11 3/4" including the extra thumb width. When you go to Zappos and input 11.6 inches, it gives you size 13, but I heard you say that you wear size 11-11.5 shoes.
The thumb length takes you up about 1/2 size, and the goal is to err on the side of slightly larger for sure, it will give you room for socks, insoles and smaller width shoes as well
@@DrTomBiernacki Thank you for your quick response. That makes sense and I think you said the extra 1/2 size also makes up for manufacturer differences. I'm trying to buy an Asics shoe online and they have their own shoe size guide, which I think should be more accurate than using others. I measured my foot to be 26cm; 27.5cm with the extra thumb width. I've looked up the shoe and people say it runs half a size too big. So based on the Asics shoe size guide below, which size would you recommend me getting(Men's)? 42.5? www.asics.com/us/en-us/shoe-size-guide.html#
Worn 10.5's forever but measured with cardboard and I should be like a 11.5 and half up to 12 😱 my arch is high so when I step down I sometimes feel toe cap, but looser when raising the foot
Thanks for your information. Unfortunately I could not find a size chart on Zappos today (5/29/2021). I found charts elsewhere, and a couple seem to say I should be wearing 1-1/2 to 2 sizes larger than I have been wearing for years! :o Over the years I have gone from a regular to a wide, and sometimes extra-wide for shoes that I will wear with fairly thick socks. I was interested in your information about width. I am hoping I can buy my next "comfortable casual" shoes at a brick and mortar store, if there are any left!
hi, Im use to youse size 8,5 usa (26,5 cm)...my left foot is 26,5 cm and my right is 26,3...my fit hurt a lot after playing tennis, literaly have no room at the end of the toes. Should I go to 27,5 cm shoes? thats 9,5 usa, 10,5 un adidas? I bought some adidas 10,5 (27,6 cm) and feel them big, but I dont know, Im not use to them...stil didnt use them. If it es like this lots of people are using the wrong size of shoes. Is it like this? 26,5 + 1, so 27,5 size? i have long toes, it has been really a ploblem for me choosing size...I always go for the small one...
This vid is very usufull to me, specially cause ur biggest fan is trans and sometimes I need to buy shoes in Amazon and sizes could be different , thanks for post,😘😘😘
Is there anyone who feels like his doctor is stupid after some problem? I don't know but my country doctors are acting like they are god. If they talk details of the problem then heal will faster I think.they are just moody.(sorry for my English)

There is a chart on the mentioned resources where you can plug in the width, I just didn't emphasize it too much

In the video I ballparked a little bit bigger, the point was to illustrate to go a big bigger, I'm actually at about a 12 now at that size

I have the same problem. Used to buying shoes with no margin upfront so my toes hurt and feel cramped
@@andyn6053 did you go up a hole size or just half?
What if you have a short but white food? My foot length is 9 to 9.25 inches but 4 to 4.5 inches wide?
best renning shoe
Great options are brooks, saucony, new balance and asics. Hoka can be good as well.
