You've definitely sold me on a pair of Hockerty boots. I'm a size 14 UK and needless to say it's nearly impossible to find quality ready to wear dress shoes that can fit me. The price, quality and customisation seem very good and the fact that they offer sizes over 12 is a big positive for me.
Me has aclarado muchas cosas. Gracias por este magnífico video!
Thanks for this assessment. And you designed really elegant boots!!!!
Glad you like them!
Ashley, thank you so much for making this review. I have been on the fence on purchasing a pair of custom shoes from Hockerty. After seeing this, I’m convinced that it’s a good alternative for value custom shoes. Thank you again! Cheers. 🥃
You are so welcome!
Great review, once again. Splendid coverage Ash
Thanks for watching
Wonderful boot - I love the Almond style toe 👍🏻
Great buy 👌🏼
fantastic review Ash 👏
Nice review, thanks!
An honest review! I’d be concerned about encountering Pleather at that price point though.
Can't wait to see these amazing boots being cleaned and polished to mirror shine👍🔥🔥🔥🔥😍
Oh its going to happen very soon.
Nice review, I like how you showed how to order, the initial impressions and also how you felt after wearing for a period of time, that’s a true review. Given the level of customisation I don’t think the price is unfair, I like Goodyear more but Blake is fine in a large shoe/collection.
Glad you enjoyed!
I don't know this company, but there are two trends of online only company's these days. One is Westerners coming up with a company design but all work is done in Asian countries. Then there are Westerners coming up with a company but getting the work made by traditional shoe companies in 2nd world countries like Brazil, or similar South American countries. Indeed, many Asian companies offer made to measure for pennies compared to what it would cost in Western countries. A more pointy style is seen more in France or Italy than England. In both the UK and USA, the magic price point for these companies are $200 US/$200# but that is creeping up in the past three years.
Nice review!
I think it is a great online service. It is good to double-check your own measurements before ordering.
Fascinating
Wonderful site, and fantastic video. No wide sizes is always a shame, and certainly something that means they won't work for me.
What a shame - hopefully they will add that as an option in the future.
@@TheChapsGuide Agreed. But thank you for your work in bringing this to us regardless.
Great looking shoes Ash. Do you know if they ship to the USA?. Keep up the good work. Cheers Ron
Yes ship worldwide - I think the USA is a big market for Hockerty.
Ash - interesting video, the shirt option looks good ,as an ex rugby chap with a neck like a buffalo, I do struggle with off the peg shirts - any experience of their shirt service?
Not as yet, but there are many favourable reviews on UA-cam from people who have used their services. I'm going to suggest another collaboration with them to try some of their clothing. I was impressed with the boots at the price, obviously they are not Cheaney or Church in quality, but then again, these were under £200 and I could have customised them in any way I wanted. Its remarkable really.
@@TheChapsGuide i look forward to the shirt review - thanks again
Hi Ash. I’m now seriously considering investing in some leather Chukka’s like these. Which is the best colour to wear them with dark denim, chinos, and even formal trousers? Thanks
Hi there !!! I’m not Ash , but i can give you a suggestion with regards to your question . I will suggest you to have a look at Crockett and Jones “Tetbury in dark brown “ . They are a chukka boots . The leather used is a good quality and they also have a lovely almond toe . The most comfortable shoes out the box . I wear them with pretty much everything , you can even pull them up with a suit . I do it often . Plus be ready to get lots of compliments while you wear them . My 2nd option for you to consider is Cheaney specially the model “Jackie III in dark brown . They have a slightly round toe . Also supper comfortable and versatile . I have the Jackie III in a suede which is a great option for you to consider . I have them in Maracca suede as well . You can wear them casually and even dress them up . The crockett and jones are a great option if you are a young professional or somebody who is wants to look sharp all the time . The Cheaney chukka is for somebody who is a bit more in to classic menswear or i should say like to be more formal . The suede option is also great for casual wear or wear them on the weekend plus you can dress them up or down . I hope Ash will agree with my opinion .
Great suggestions there by Bobby, hard to add anything more. I love the Tetbury (the Bond boot) but the price is a bit steep, but you do get what you pay for. My Cheaney chukkas are on their last legs and I will most likely replace them with a pair of Tetburys next year.
As regards colour - its really hard to beat oxblood in my opinion - can be worn with just about everything and evolves majestically with age.
@@TheChapsGuide @Bobby Brown Thanks both. I’ve just seen and impulse bought a pair of black Loake chukkas for £92! I’ll keep an eye out for oxblood options too 👍
How is the sizing? Do they run big or small? I ask because the boots don't come in a half size and I'm closer to an 11 than a 12.
I would size up, as they are not a generous fit.
Hello, the video on the Hockerty site of the size measurement is not very clear,
you cannot clearly see the outline of the heel and where the tip of the pencil must fall because the thickness of the pen or pencil can change the measurement.
Regarding the choice of leather, what is the quir that we receive if we do not choose any ? The leather of the model’s home page?
Thank you very much, O. Gueur.
I would pose your question directly to Hockerty through their website sir, sadly I do not have the knowledge to be able to assist.
Yes I had the same issue because I typically wear a size 14 UK and they recommended me a 10.5 UK, despite taking a number of measurements. I opted for a 13.5 UK in the end.
Hi! did they fit?@@nutyyyy
hows the fit compared to your branock machine foot measurement?
They are a good accurate fit for me.
What do you think of the United State's Cowboy hat?
I think in the right circumstances they look great. I've been to Texas many times and seen chaps wearing them with suits - very appropriate for the situation. Would not look so natural in London though!
I get custom made Waistcoats from Hockerty.
I've yet to try any of their clothing, but I may indulge very soon.
So please be honest. Whats your opinion about Hockerty shoes? Are they OK or are they garbage? I like to dress well but I don't have the money to pay more than 200€ for a pair of shoes. Thanks for your help. :)
Given the many other options available, I would choose Hockerty if you were after a shoe that was aesthetically customised, as they offer the option to have the shoe made from a variety of colours and styles - However, if you are after a traditional style which is more mainstream, I would look elsewhere and look at something with a full Goodyear welted sole.
@@TheChapsGuide Thanks for your Answer. What I mean is, what is the leather quality of the shoes? Will they last a long time? So the hockerty shoes are not goodyear welted? My cobbler also resoles blake stiched shoes. i Mean yes you talked about the quality, but I don't want to buy a 200€ shoe to throw it away after one or two years.
@@TheChapsGuide Ok i ordered a pair of shoes from Hockerty and i odered i pair of goodyear welted shoes from a german brand on sale for 179€ instead of 359€. So i can compare the shoes and can decide if the quality is enough for my needs.
@@chrishalle1982 let us know!
How would you say these compare to, say, Meermin in terms of quality?
No where near as good.
@@TheChapsGuide Fair enough given it's a much cheaper boot. So what other brand do you think this is closest to in terms of quality?
@@a.t.3192 I would definitely steer more towards the more traditional brands if you are seeking a high quality boot (anything from the Northampton sphere really). The Hockety is no where near the quality of, say Cheaney, but they have the ability to be customised to an amazing level - Personally I'm a Northampton man, but Hockerty may appeal to others. Ash
@@TheChapsGuide Hmm. At the moment those brands are well out of my price range so I'm sticking to meermin for more dressy stuff and thursday for casual boots but yeah, I see what you mean. I'm definitely sceptical of this brand, it just caught my eye because of the high level of customisation available.
