This is tremendously useful. Every sentence is packed with information. There is no fluff. It was so dense it was hard to grasp every tip given in one viewing. Many thanks.
this is what UA-cam tutorials are about. I think too many creators got trapped in the 10 min monetisation mark and made their videos 11 mins or more, ultimately full of fluff and no information(wandering on about nonsense) Thanks for this
Still the best soldering tutorial video on the internet. This is the one I link to friends and acquaintances when they're learning soldering for the first time.
Very good, from a former Navy 2M tech. High reliability soldering takes time and practice. In school, my soldering was graded under a microscope and took an unrealistic amount of time to do, but it was suitable for aircraft and NASA.
You were very comprehensive and thorough with your explanations. Tonight, I'm soldering my first circuit board, and after sifting through a litany of instructionals, I finally feel confident enough to do it after your video. You broke down your soldering technique, including hazards and time constraints, in a way which was easy enough to understand for even a total beginner. Subbed, thank you.
This 7 minute video provided me with an answer to every question I had about soldering. Every sentence was meaningful. I only wish I saw this first before spending all the time reading articles and watching other videos!
This is by far the most comprehensive explanation I have found. I've watched 30-40 "basic soldering" videos and tutorials that were useless?! Thank you.
This is the best soldering video I've ever seen. I have sucked at soldering-- mainly because I didn't understand WHY I was doing what I was doing. I messed up a circuit board the other day, this video is going to help me get it right.
Most useful and most correct soldering video I've seen. Granted, it's a very limited sample, but there seem to be too many incorrect tutorials on soldering.
Thank you so much. I’ve always been poor at soldering and never knew why... this video explained WHY I was doing things wrong and helped me understand how to fix it! Thanks to you, I just fixed a PCB with 16 new capacitors on my first try!! Thank you!
The best short video how to solder, you give a lot of info in a short time. I recommend to others; use a dry brass sponge, this cleans while keeping some tin on the tip, thereafter apply some fresh tin, to slow down the oxidation of the iron plating (to little tin= starts to black)
+ga12f12o Also don't set the temperature too high, you want the flux in the solder to clean, if it set too high the flux will aggressively burn and can't do it's cleaning job, the tin on the tip will show nasty discoloration. Also use the correct size tip for your work.
Excellent job putting this video together. Very well done. I use it for training production staff. Veteran solderers found it a good review and learned some new things.
Well done. The mother board on my dryer needs soldering done, bc my control panel light came on. When I looked at it, everything seemed fine until you explained in awesome detail near the end on how the solder tips should look. Thank you so much. Saved me huge money. I thumbs up, and subscribed do to in-depth detail. Pls keep them coming.
Thank you for the informative videos. I especially like your video on “Soldering Iron Wattage vs. Temperature”. Now that I know exactly what each type of soldering irons can do, I can make informed decisions on buying my first soldering iron. Excellent videos! Very helpful!
Oh Man Thank You! You showed me EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED & WANTED TO KNOW. This is exactly what an inexperienced person needs help understanding. You have eliminated so much frustration from the world with your video. Truly, Thank You 🙏🏼
Excellent Soldering Tutorial! Everything was perfect. I would only add that instead of soldering for a short time, you gauge the time based on flowing enough solder into the hole (when soldering parts into plated through holes).
Fantastic video man, helped me a ton with all the facts. I am about to do a bunch of soldering on a Megasquirt ECU and this video gave me 100% more confidence.
This video is extremely helpful and the tips were amazing. Some of the info you provided on why to, and why not to do something we're very interesting. I will definitely be returning to this video in the future.
Thank you... I mean it most sincerely.... Some of us need to know why certain steps are necessary and the part abt solder running towards heat, I'm grateful to learn this. I've seen abt 50 videos but urs is best by far visually and for facts not opinions
What a fantastic solder learning video. Straight to the point and few other tips other teaching videos don't tell you. . Now I'm more confident in my learning of soldering . Thk you so much. Very much appreciate you in giving your time and knowledge.
Thank you for sharing such good information. I needed to know everything you said. Very much appreciate you creating a video for people like me wanting to know how to properly solder.
Liked, shared and new subscriber...., 1st time actually doing this and i didnt even need to be told to do so..., this video is thee most helpful to learn how to solder, thanx good sir!!
I messed up a little and now my child is like Han solo frozen in carbonite but this was very educational none the less!! would rate 5 stars if youtube still used the star rating system
@@CuriousInventorBut I can! The American pronunciation stays truer to the original French word, soudure. The L is a re-Latinization (something that was trendy during certain times in history). As a general rule, when American and British pronunciations differ, it’s more likely that American English retains the historical/original form. (The exact opposite of what most people assume to be the case.)
Great video ive watched a few and yours is by far the best one guy even pronounced the o in like the o in colder instead of the au sound .. i couldnt get past that
Hi, Could you please add in the annotation that you added to the previously uploaded version regarding the procedure of clipping off excess leads before soldering, and that clipping excess leads after soldering is OK to do, unless you are building space ships or nuclear weapons etc? :-) Thanks!

Orion Cotyledon shut up, nerd
Yep, no fluff is always good!
@@floob247.
His comment was actually very well put, I see no reason to tell him to stfu... And what about that comment was nerdy?
@@googledeathsquad7921 Sorry, it was a joke. Lol, I don't think I'd be watching this video if I wasn't a nerd.

I'm on board with everyone else this is the best soldering video I've seen so far.
This will help tremendously. I knew about half the info and sometimes soldering went good and sometimes went bad. Now it will always be good. Thanks
Is it really though?
4 years later and your video is still teaching people. i'm learning to solder. Thanks

Thank you so much for the very helpful and informative video, this quality is rare even among "professional" videos. Thank you!
This is the best and most useful video I've seen on this topic on UA-cam. So glad to have come across it many years ago.
I use this program in my electronics training program for casino techs and coin-op repair enthusiasts.

Where do you get that pump bottle? Used to have one at my old job but haven't seen them since. Been looking for years.
I just added a link to it in the description. I love those bottles.
Nice and helpful video, Thanks
