Why are they talking about Salem when they didn't burn anyone there? If they say that they burnt accused witches in Salem, I will boo this movie from the mountaintops.
I'd boooo it along with you! Note that the film takes place in both Scotland and Salem Village (Danvers MA).
Hopefully not, as burning was the penalty for witchcraft only in Scotland and the Continent. In England and the colonies, it was always hanging.

Hey @rogue0921 so the scene that features the black man in this trailer is from Salem Village circa 1692.
However, check this out -- the earliest recorded black person in Scotland is believed to be John Blanke, a trumpeter in the court of King James IV in the early 16th century. Blanke is known from a payment made to him in the treasurer's accounts of 1507-1508, where he was referred to as "the Moore Trumpeter."
This record suggests that Blanke was an African or of African descent, likely brought to Scotland from England. He was a part of the royal court, which indicates that people of African descent were present in Scotland, albeit in small numbers, even in the early 16th century.

There was no standard to how the executions where conducted. Some where strangled before. Others were burned alive.
In the North Berwick Witch Trials of 1590-1592, there is a documented case of an accused witch being burned alive. This trial is particularly notorious for its use of extreme torture and brutal executions. One such case involved the accused witch, Dr. John Fian, who was a schoolmaster and purported warlock.
During his trial, Dr. John Fian was tortured extensively to extract a confession. He was accused of various acts of witchcraft, including conjuring storms to sink ships and attempting to assassinate King James VI of Scotland. Despite maintaining his innocence, Fian was subjected to horrific torture methods, including the "boots" and the "pennywinkis," which involved crushing his legs and feet with heavy weights.
Following his coerced confession, Dr. John Fian was found guilty of witchcraft and sentenced to death by burning. On January 27, 1591, he was taken to Castle Hill in Edinburgh, where he was tied to a stake and burned alive in front of a large crowd.
