Hey Doc, I just found you and I will probably be subscribing with a little more time and viewing. This was a good video. I recently bought my 1st young grafted Crimson Queen from Walmart, and of course they didn't have any answers to questions. I planted it outside in zone 7, and though I have many questions, I will just burden you with 2 for now. Excuse my ignorance but the taping together of the tree to the stake, which mine has in 2 or 3 spots, i'm wondering how long should I keep them taped, and being taped won't stunt any vertical growth, right? When should the stake be removed? And do you have any expertise or videos on Sago Palms? Thanks!
If it is Horticulture tape it should just break off as the diameter of the limbs grow. You can remove the stakes once the tree is strong enough to stand up to a hard wind. Palms get out of area of expertise. They are more tropical in nature and I am in zone 8.
thank you for the pine bark link!
Thanks for watching. I hope you learned something

Thankyou for your very informative videos. I’m planting in very very heavy clay soil. Any good tips .? We are in late autumn going into winter.
You have just answered my question. Thankyou
Ha! I was about to answer you on the first part, clicked on the comment and saw your reply. Glad I could help.
nice one! I think mine died because of too much sun.
Where to plant? Full sun, full shade or a little of both?
It depends on the cultivar. There are literally thousands. But a general rule of thumb is part sun.
