    Hello, one question.
    What is the measurement of the sensor?
    I also want to install an electric fan with a switch but I'm missing the sensor and I don't know the exact measurement.

    Great video planning to do it on my Grizzly, where does it get 12v power when you manually turn on switch and also should i add fuse between switch and thermostat?

    • @craigporritt7945
      @craigporritt7945  4 роки тому

      I’m not sure if the Grizzly would be the same, but regardless, one of the wires coming from the thermostat switch on the radiator is powered. I used a test light to find the powered wire, then continued to put it all together. I don’t see why there would be any need for a fuse since the power would be coming directly from the thermostat wires. Let me know how it goes, hopefully it works for you the same way?

    When does this fan kick on normally. Just got my first quad and I haven't heard it yet and I'm tripping cause I'm like damn this motor feels hot. Do they get really hot or what

    • @craigporritt7945
      @craigporritt7945  Рік тому +1

      Yes, the fans come on when it gets hot enough to trip the thermostat. Not exactly sure what the temperature is supposed to be to get it to turn on, but once installed correctly, I never had an overheating issue when riding hard at Glamis.

      You can try stripping the wire and wrapping it around a bolt that goes into the frame and thread it in, that way it’s making contact with the frame.

    So when the fan comes on is it supposed to blow toward the radiator or away from the radiator

    • @craigporritt7945
      @craigporritt7945  3 роки тому

      The fan sits on the inside of the radiator closest to the Motor, when it comes on, it’s suppose to suck air through the radiator and blow in the direction towards the engine just as it’s designed from the factory.

    • @jdiffiebutnotjoe8212
      @jdiffiebutnotjoe8212 Рік тому

      The fan on these is in a "pull" configuration. If it's pushing air forward through the radiator, it's likely wired up backwards.

      It should work for any quad that has a cooling fan that turns on from a thermostat sensor. All you’re doing is tying into the thermostats power wire and enabling the manual control of the fan without interrupting the normal operation.

    How to set it back to automatic?

    • @craigporritt7945
      @craigporritt7945  6 років тому +1

      If you install the switch exactly as I have this done, then you don't have to do anything for the fan to come on automatically. When the engine gets hot as normal, the fan will still come on. The switch just allows you to manually turn on the fan before the engine gets hot enough to automatically turn the fan on itself. This way you can run the fan when you're climbing hills, racing others or just want to keep the engine running cooler.
