I'm a DJ by trade, and I also build my own DJ cases out if 3/8 " plywood, I usually paint the bottom black, and covered the top with black speaker carpet.

That's a great idea. Thanks for the input. I haven't really thought too much about the finishing work but I'll definitely consider the speaker carpet
