Mizuno has always been a heel striker dream brand. I remember a long time ago how it was considered a "proper runner" brand unlike the more famous brands like Nike and Adidas that were for posers and newbies ! For a heel striker that plate was something very unique and gave a super efficient transition and very dynamic ride. I mostly run in Adidas at the moment ( addicted to Bostons ) but Mizuno will always have a special place in my running heart !
Your right If only, they really are set up more for a heel strike 👍 I'm more midfoot/forefoot so that 12mm off set was a little high for me. Super comfortable shoe though with a lovely upper! 👌 Thanks for watching and supporting the channel as always 🙏
Very nice review, BUT I must outline something about the OFFSET topic. The offset may be 12mm but this is measured with the shoe unloaded (with no weight). When you wear the shoes and while you are having highly absorbing materials like the Enerzy midsole there should be another unit called SAG. This is the offset with our weight on the shoe, which of course is LESS than the unloaded shoe and is correlated to our weight. This is why when you run feels like it has an offset 5-8mm. If the midsole was of a harder material the SAG would decrease. That is why the offset on the highly absorbing and responsive shoes that have become mainstream the last years is on a unit that should matter so much. Of course you should try everything by yourselves and judge. New subscriber, I run with 8 pair of shoes at the moment (trying always to be multibranded). I have about 100km with the mizuno, very happy with this pair and they feel better the faster you run, seem also to dislike slow tempos. The quality is as you say. Almost perfect. Recommend them.
Thanks so much for the sub 👍 I totally get what your saying about off set but unfortunately the shoe felt a bit to high in the heel even when under load. Like you said it did improve a bit at higher Tempo but the Wave Rider NEO is meant to be a daily trainer so should perform well at faster and slower speeds 😊 I still really enjoyed the shoe and it is such a great upper but for me and my foot strike I think it would of performed even better just with a slightly lower heel 😊 Thanks for watching the channel and taking the time to comment it's really appreciated Panagiotis 🙏
@@Run4Adventure I couldn't agree more. At 4mm drop it would be perfect for speedwork. I enjoy them despite I had left mizuno for some years because of their design was kept the same.
I recently had Mizuno Wave Inspire, which after a dozen runs are getting used to walk the dog. Thought I was done with Mizuno, but this is an interesting development. Great review as always.
Another good review. No surprise you're about to hit 10k subs, quality content. 👍 Like you, I've never historically been a fan of Mizuno, similarly found them a bit heavy and clunky. Does look like they're moving in the right direction.
Same experience. The drop is massive, especially since most brands top out at 10mm. Removing 2 to 4mm from the backend would likely bring the weight of this shoe down as well. Seems like a wasted opportunity in today's market.
Another major improvement on the old Wave rider model - they've got rid of the recess in the heel which was ALWAYS collecting large stones! The amount of times I've had to stop to remove them...
If never understood my running brands did that, it makes no sense! It's one of my pet hates, running shoes that collect stones 😔 Thanks for watching the channel I hope you enjoyed it 🙏
It's winter in the UK? How is that possible when winter doesn't start until about December 22? Interesting. I do agree with the 12mm drop. It's time Mizuno and Brooks reduced their drop to at the most 10mm.
It's wet, it's windy, it's muddy, it's cold so it might as well be winter Tom! After all the time and effort we put into making this review I'm so glad the one thing you comment about is the fact it's not actually winter 😂 Brilliant!! Thanks for watching 👍
@@Run4Adventure I hadn't but I've just had a look and it looks like they've changed the one thing i’d have asked for. That's me squared for my next shoes 😂🤦♂️
Hi lloyd, love the channel, what are your thoughts on the altra range of shoes, been struck down by pelatonal tendonitis, so looking at a new approach. Cheers from at very frustrated shuffler 🏃♂️🏃♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Hi Robert I've run in a few Altras and if I'm honest the trail shoes were OK but I really struggled in their road shoes! I actually had a lot of issues when I tried them on the road, lots of shin and lower leg problems 🤔 Obviously it's very personal and the zero drop thing works for some but not really my thing. I don't want a massive heel off set but a little bit of lift helps 😊 Thanks for watching the channel I'm glad you're enjoying it Robert and I hope you get your niggles sorted 🙏
It's tricky to do because fit of a running shoe is so personal! I know runners that want lots of space in the toe box and runners that want no room in the toe box and run with their toes on the end of the shoe! It can also depend on how far you're running in distance. If you're running 5-10k it doesn't really matter but if you're running 50-100 miles you'll probably want a lot more space! 😊 Thanks for watching the channel it's really appreciated 🙏
From a looks perspective, Mizuno always appealed to me. But the lack of innovation and precipitous heel drop has been a no-go zone for me. With the neo it sounds like Mizuno is trying to enter the more serious runner market. Surely, though, reducing the heel drop would be a pretty easy fix, compared to new mid-sole foam development. We shall see what the future brings.
Mizuno are definitely moving in the right direction with the NEO 👍 The new midsole compound felt good and upper was brilliant! Just that off set for me was a bit to high. I would love to run in the same shoe but with a 6-8mm off set to see how it performed 😊 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🙏
Never been a big fan of Inov8's. They really don't fit my foot shape and I find them very flat internally (no support) 😕 I'm going to try some of the new Asic shoes soon. I think they've made some big improvements lately and some of their new shoes look pretty good! 👍 Thanks for watching the channel and taking the time to comment it's really appreciated 🙏

@@webby75 Hi Lee 👍 I have reviewed an Adidas shoe on the channel before, it was their road shoe the SL20. To be honest for me it was the shoe I got on with the least this year! It’s a frickin stiletto of a shoe!! I had no idea shoe manufacturers made a 12mm offset!! Very good review though Loyd 👍🏻. Really Good looking shoe but £150 is probably £35 too much in my opinion
I know what you mean Dean, 12mm in my opinion is a bit dated for a heel off set 😕 For me the shoe would've felt great if it was running off a 6mm off set! Totally agree with you on price, I said the same in the review, £120-£130 would be a more competitive price point I think 👍 Thanks for watching and supporting the channel mate 🙏

I think they've missed a trick here Mizuno and the shoe could of performed even better and appealed to a wider audience with a lower off set 👍 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🙏

Is it two separate pairs of shoes you are after Faheem or a shoe that go do both sprit training and long distance? Also does it have to be Mizuno? 🤔

The heel they are putting on these shoes now makes them look elf-ish.
