To each their own, but I like these features. Now a 034 motor sports ECU and TCU tune, and upgraded intake…u have a sub 4 sec 0-60 car. A flippin’ AWD sedan that runs with a stock corvette in the 1/4. Yeah…. How can u bash that.
One thing I LOVE about Audi, is that it’s just about the only thing we get cheaper here in Canada that you guys do. You folks get absolutely hosed on the sticker price with these things. Same model and spec here is about 10% less. Damn! But then our taxes more than make up for it lol.
Just got my third B9.5, had all the others - BMW’s - MBZ’s… The Audi drive feel - new car tec - old car soul… Such a nice balance of comfort and performance…Superb quality…
I have a 2018 S4 and, with retirement in the offing, have thought about swapping for an RS3 or something a bit more expensive and sporty like an M3 comp (I live in the northeast and like AWD in winter). The newer S4 you tested is essentially the same car as mine but with some interior changes. The center armrest in my S4 isn’t adjustable and I’m small so that’s a minor irritant. On the other hand my S4 has the optimal dash configuration with a central round tach. It also has 8 physical preset buttons that make swapping channels a breeze compared to my 2023 BMW i4 e40 with iDrive 8. The S4 feels a bit soft and numb, but the numbers are surprisingly robust. In a 2018 review, Car and Driver reported 0-60 of 4.3 (no mention of roll-out), 0.99 lateral g, and 70-0 of 148 feet. That’s outstanding for a car at this price level with such a premium cabin and DD capability. Driven hard it drinks gas in the teens, but I do a lot of highway driving and over 60,000 miles the car reports an average of 31.8 mpg. The computer is optimistic, but based on measured consumption I’m sure it’s getting at least 30 mpg. The rear-steer impression you described was probably the torque-vectoring diff, which is an essential option. Over those 60,000 miles, my car has had zero defects and no unscheduled service visits. After the OEM Continental summer tires wore out (around 20,000 miles) I put Michelin PS4s on the car that traded a smidge of grip for better steering responsiveness and much better wear. For winter, I have 18” aftermarket wheels and Nokian Hakkas. While I dream of getting a “real” sports car before ICE cars go extinct, the S4 is surprisingly hard to match as a total package. The RS3 seems great, but the cabin is a big step down from the S4. The Alfa QF is fantastic but I need at least one winter capable car. The RS5 Sportback is lovely but bloated. That leaves a Golf R as a sensible choice and an M3 comp as the crazy one. A Porsche would be nice but I can’t justify the cost even if I can afford it. Operating costs, including excise tax, are pretty low for my S4 and I have a 10-year/100,000 mile factory warranty so I’ll probably end up keeping it, but the urge to move on is strong!
I owned a 2020 M340 xdrive and currently own a 2023 S4 and both have their benefits. Also owned a 2017 S3. BMW definitely quicker but not by much. BMW more abrupt. Audi more of a comfortable sports sedan. Audi rides better with the adaptive dampers. I have no complaints about either.
@@lowk3ychris484 depending on what’s important…for all around smoothness luxury and power I’d say Audi. But if you want a vehicle that’s got more in the way of abruptness then I’d say BMW. Drive both to compare. Each have their benefits.
@@lowk3ychris484 Both are great. S4 has a nice interior with better materials. Very luxurious feeling and yet sporty. M340i is a bit more sporty feeling and has more of a performance edge.

Feel I’d be wasting much of the potential in the M340i since backroad carving isn’t a part of my schedule. I’ll definitely test both of them out when the time comes.
Oh nice! Sweet spec for sure! The supercharged engine was sweet. My friend had one with an APR tune, exhaust and intake. Sounded insane and was so fast!

I test drove a 2020 S4 (same model, minimal differences) and a 2023 S3 and I could not ever see myself getting the S3 based on size alone. Just test drive both and you will be able to make your own judgement pretty quickly.

M340i is a faster car. But driving the S4, it feels just as quick. Very fun car to drive. I'm pointing out that it feels very fast. Even tho it's not as fast as the M340. But this has a nicer interior. So a good competitor. Does feel too laggy
65k and not even the prestige trim? Outdated Interior.. There is a definite German bias and reviewers seems to give Euro sedans a lot of slack. Got my ‘24 Tlx type S for 55k which has more features and great handling as well. No Knock on the S4 but it’s a bit overpriced. Would rather get M340 at that price.
Homelink / Garage door controls go through the touchscreen. One of my only gripes - 3 physical programmable buttons on the headliner is such a small thing to omit to have to deal with touchscreen sillyness when I get to garage / gate.
As someone who owns a 2023 Audi Q8, 2024 Audi A3 base, and a 2023 M3. I prefer BMW is driving dynamics, tech, and interior. Audi's interiors are dated and feel very cheap compared to my M3. The only thing Audi does better imo is suspension comfort, but its not a fair comparison since the M3 is suppose to be stiffer and dynamic. My wife works at Audi so we get some great deals but I'd prefer she work at BMW, lol. Audi is still amazing and deserve to be in the top with BMW and Mercedes.

Nice review. I think this is sportier than an m340i, but the BMW is more luxurious in my opinion.
To be honest I think the opposite 😅. Audi interior has way better materials. M340 is faster and has more direct steering
Been in a 23 m340i both in the front and back and to be honest, while its fast, the interior isn't as comfortable. Seats kinda felt stiffer.

Gotcha. Yeah sometimes it's just so much easier to have a button. We like it on our RS3
For the past decade the S series maintained the same horsepower at 350 why is that Audi ?
Not too sure. Seems pretty comparable to others in this class. But 400 HP would be nicer
