I've seen a lot of customs for this fig and this is by far the best one, definitely love how it turned out, nice job man
Thanks so much, man-- that means a lot!
This is the best custom that i've seen, replacing the head with the bendy fig was the cherry on top, and the paint of the armor to make it more accurate was the chef's kiss, congrats man!
Hey thanks so much! I appreciate the watch and the kind words.
There are a lot of comments saying this is the “best custom” of this figure…and I fully agree. This is top-notch work!🙌
That's really kind of you to say-- thank you!
my main complaint with the original figure is that it looked a bit too big, and Battinson didn't look that big, and this custom definetely captured how Battinson looks
Thank you! Yeah, the skinny head and long arms really made it look way off. Also the torso is a bit narrow. McFarlane toys used to be the apex of accuracy and likeness, but that’s kind of gone away with this new DC 7” line.
This tutorial is really helpful and the customised end product is awesome. Just bought a BT Batman and I can't wait to customise my MT Batman !
Thanks very much, and I’m glad to hear it! Have fun with yours!
i think this has to be the best mcfarlane the batman figure custom i have seen. fantastic
Hey thank you so much! Really kind of you to say!
Using the bendable figure is such a game changer, I’m so confused how nobody came up with that and it worked!
Thanks, dude! It’s remarkable how good the sculpt is on that thing! Better than the McFarlane by a mile. Lol
I did the Bendyfig cape swap as well. I also purchased some 3D printed parts to include the fist hands, drop down holster, sticky bomb gun and two wrist gauntlet grapnel guns that are in the correct proportion to the figure. The grapnel gun that comes with the figure is a bit too big.
It is pretty chunky, huh? Did your Bendyfig come with a drop holster? I saw that it's actually supposed to and mine just didn't have one.
@@Ibrahim_M the Bendyfig did come with a holster but I didn’t use that on my McFarland Batman
Where did you order those parts Steven? That sounds like exactly what all I need, as well as a replacement collar because I have the defective cape.
@@ryankerbow3251 I got the Bendyfig from amazon. If you have Walgreens in your area, I think they carry them there as well.
@@Ibrahim_M awesome. I need to know where to order all of those 3d printed parts as well. Any ideas for the arm straps?
Another superb customisation. The attention to detail is excellent once more. I like the Pattinson Batman suit, my favourite after the Keaton batsuits.
Thank you, my friend! I really love the simplicity of the Keaton suit and the silhouette it cuts. I’m a fan of tactical/practical looks for Batman, so I do really like this one from 2022 apart from the cowl. I wish it wasn’t so form-fitting. But a cool unique take, to be sure.
@@Ibrahim_M
There will always be little negatives regarding Batsuits unfortunately. I’ll be honest but I’m not a fan of most of the film version suits including the Affleck suit although I loved the work you did in a previous video. I think the latest Keaton batsuit is mostly fine other than the cowl which could have been better. I also would have preferred a classic yellow utility belt but otherwise it’s good. The Pattinson suit is one of my faves and your work on upgrading the figure really was terrific.
@@LEXINGTONSMYTHE you’re very kind, sir! Thank you!
I loved the mods done for the Mcfarlane figure. I bought the Mcfarlane figure just to customize it. I just need to find the bendyfig. This is going to be my first time customizing a figure.
Welcome to the customizing world! I hope you have fun with it and found this video helpful :)
The bendy fig one is at Amazon
Mannnn what a great idea to put Bendy's cape on the Mcfarlane's figure. Gonna ordere a few Bendy's just for the cape.
Thanks! I couldn't believe how nice their cape was! Haha
@@Ibrahim_M Anytime brother, and thank you for the inspiration 💪
massive improvement. very sick
Thank you!
To make It loose its plastic shine you can pull the figure apart super easy. Just pegs with legs arms and torso. Use dish soap to scrub it good and then dry with paper towel. Use shoe polish to go over the areas you want more detail on and it'll look more matte. Not as plastic shiny that he comes with.
That works too! Easiest way is actually to hit it with some dull-coat. It makes things lose their shine and look more matte. But I wanted to change the color of it as well, so painting was two birds with one stone. I also hate the smell of shoe polish 😂
awesome, i extended the torso on the mcfrlane one and it makes a world of difference
Nice! I bet that really helped with the proportions.
@@Ibrahim_M It really did and it also improved the articulation quite a bit. Thanks for showing how the bendy fig scales btw i was hesitant to buy it but it's perfect for part swapping
@@diegomunoz6349 Nice! My pleasure-- let me know how it goes!
end result looks so good, really impressed with your repaint of the face... def wanna learn more detailing techniques!
Thanks very much! I’d like to do a video on face painting if I can figure out better logistics. I have to hold it super close to my face and that doesn’t leave enough room for the camera 😂
@@Ibrahim_M well when you figure out how to film it I’m ready to watch and learn lol
@@kinglouiethethird Sounds good! I've got a big batch of heads to paint, so I'll definitely record some of it and I'll likely put up a video and at least explain it even if it's not pristine footage.
Damn, that''s nice. LOVE the cape.
Thank you! I could NOT believe how nice the cape was on that Bendyfig, haha.
Really enjoy this vid. Very informative
Thanks very much, I appreciate you checking it out!
Retroactive looks sick

Outstanding work bro!
Thanks you so much, my dude!

Really nice job.I don’t have this kind of ability to do mine:)
Thank you!
Love the paint job, awesome custom man!!
Thank you very much!!
Thank You so much Buddy. This was my first custom figure. And Im very surprised how great it turned out. I didnt paint his body because I liked the color tho. But i used some weathering and its so cool!
That’s really great, man! Thanks so much for sharing that. Do you have the itch to do more now? Haha
@@Ibrahim_M I might customise my Snyder Cut batman. I was so afraid to do any of this. But now I got some confidence boost after my first figure.
@@markhorvath6876 that's great! It's really fun to take these inexpensive figures to the next level.
Fantastic work buddy! The neck peg for the McFarlane figure is salvageable - a bit of heat to that area and some pliers can do the trick of removing it from the head
Thanks, my friend! Yeah, it seemed like it would come out easily enough, but the rubber head grips on SUPER well, so I just decided to leave it, haha. It still moves just as well, and there's no peg piece to get stopped once it hits the neck.
Great video giving me inspiration for doing more than kit-bashing.
Thanks, brother!
Love how this turned out, planning on picking up the other figure myself at some point.
Thank you very much! Yeah, it's a great way to level up the McFarlane one.
Wow, great job. It looks fantastic!
Thanks very much!
Great job, dude.
Thank you very much!
@@Ibrahim_M I have all the figures and both bikes (Bruce’s bike and Batcycle) from the McFarlane collection. I didn’t get catwoman yet but Im like the 40 yr old virgin and don’t take them out of the boxes. Lol
@@javier77th 😂😂😂 One thing I really like about the McFarlane line is that the boxes are collector friendly, so you can open them if you want without damaging the packaging. I personally buy a lot of used figures (either for a better price or because I missed them when they first come out) and they tend to retain their value. BUT! I feel you: there's nothing like seeing them look like they did the day you found them in the aisle, haha.
@@Ibrahim_M Boys don’t get old. Our toys just get more expensive 😉
@@javier77th LOL Facts
Looks great did the same stuff to mine! Except the bendyfig stuff gotta look into it!
Nice! Thank you, man. Yeah, the bendyfig was a revelation, haha. What did you do for your cape?
The head sculpt of the figure's head you used looks more like Chris pine lol
😂 I can see it! The funny thing is that it still looks more like Pattinson than that weird skinny head it came with, lol.
Kudos - this is super cool ✌🏻🦇
Thank you-- much appreciated!
Very nice work I will try it to especially on the cape it look ten times better than the original one !!!
Thank you! Yeah, the cape alone makes for such an improvement. And it's really easy to swap, so totally worth it! Have fun!
@@Ibrahim_M I failed on the first try unfortunately but I made it on my second try and I even made a little fix on his feed to go on the Bendyfigs base so I'm very happy !!!
But the cape is making a huge improvement on the figure plus the had , the had is really good of Bendyfigs one the Mcfarlane one is not bad but Bendyfigs looks exactly like Robert Pattinson !!!
So thank you for the great idea again ... respect my brother !!! :)
@@beyondberserk5510 Nice work, man! I'm glad you gave it another try! I thought about drilling bigger holes in his feet for that Bendyfigs base-- it's such a nice base. I wonder if they had some kind of 3D scan of Pattinson as Batman direct from WB. If not and it was sculpted, McFarlane should find out whoever sculpted it and hire them, haha.
@@Ibrahim_M Actually that is how I did the fix on his feed to go on the base I drill a bigger holes on them and they fit perfectly on the base and the base is so good !!!
so if you haven't try to drill bigger holes it works !!! And yes if they findthe man who sculp the face Mcfarlane have to take him immediately ... I totally agree man ! :)
@@beyondberserk5510 Nice! I'm just waiting to receive the Hot Wheels 1/10 scale RC Batmobile from the movie to see if it is the right size for the McFarlane figure. If it is, I won't use the base because I'm going to put the figure with the car. But if it's too big for the car, I'll display it on the bae for sure!
Really good job. Well done!!!
Thanks very much!
Bro you do some good comic work ✌🏽
Thank you so much!
looks great! Mcfarlane should change those cape into real cape with wire. Specially with his Spawn that would be awesome. Id rather to spend money on SHfiguarts and MAfex that is more poseable in a small size.
I agree. My preferred figure brand is mezco one:12, and thankfully that are finally starting to put wires in their capes.
This is the best custom for the batman mc farlane, maybe the cape isn't full covered the back of his lower neck, and the upper of his chest armor quite bit lower if you remove the old cape
Thank you! Yeah, the proportions of the figure are kind of off all over; the arms too long, the torso is also a bit skinny, and the chest plate is too low. I think that was to accommodate that bulky plastic cape it came with. I thought about trimming the fabric cape so that it would sit higher on his neck, but ultimately it would damage the cape and its ability to attach properly, so I left it.
Awesome work!
Thank you!
You got a sub from me brother, you work super hard. You deserve it! ❤️
Thank you very much! I really appreciate that.
I used mezco punisher fists as alternate hands only slight modification needed
Nice! That’s a great idea. I don’t have that one but I was thinking the JL tactical Batman hands that I have might work.
Nice job one thing you need to fix and this is everybody's figure, the torso is upside down once you fix that hell ab crunch alot better!!
No this one is correct-- only the ones that came with the wrong neck (cowl down version) were the ones that have the upside down lower torso. Thankfully I didn't end up with that one!
@@Ibrahim_M I see now good to know I was not aware torso was only for the mixed neck cowl defected version, I hope to find a figure with the proper neck piece I am hoping there is a way to tell apart from the fixed batches. Maybe you can customize for better movement on this figure or his bike?
@@arkhamraptor7242 I think you can tell the ones with the wrong neck piece because they also all have the upside down torso, but I could be wrong. You know, I've never tried putting him on his bike, haha. I figured it would only frustrate me 😂. I bet he can't raise his chin enough for it. It's probably why they made him looking sideways.
How did You Made the holster?? Awesome custom
Thanks! I just painted the straps that were already there molded onto the leg, and then I glued on a holster from a Neca figure that I had.
this is good, but I think the chest and belly armor are more black, and the thighs are gray because they are not covered in armor. 😁👍
That could be. I was using pics of the hot toys version for reference for other parts of it since they’re clear and detailed, but I’m still waiting to see the movie for myself and then I might make some adjustments if it feels necessary.
A couple questions:
What's the best kind of super glue to use to attach the cape tucked into the chest plate?
What is jewelry wire?
Can I get it at a Joanne's or Michael's?
Nice! $10 is a great deal. I use Bob Smith Industries CA glue for everything: amzn.to/3LqtBAk
Jewelry wire is a thin gauge wire used for jewelry making: amzn.to/48fAHRV
and you can definitely find it at Michael's, I believe that's where I got mine from.
@@Ibrahim_M awesome. Thanks so much. I'm gonna try to change my cape tomorrow
@@orinanime you’re welcome! Have fun, man!
@@Ibrahim_M thanks. My bendyfig just arrived. The cape is absolute perfection. Gonna order some more while they're so cheap just to have an extra cape.
Going to get glue and wire
looks great. reminds me of the one i saw son of malebolgia do on his channel
Oh nice I didn’t know he had a YT channel, I just know him on IG. I’ll have to check it out!
@@Ibrahim_M yea he has one. his was insane. he used the bottom half of the face from the macfarlane figure on the rubber figures cowl.
@@devoncrestway338 Just checked it out. The printing of the eyes was a genius move!
Maybe the closed fists from the bendable Batman could be used too?
Hahahah WOWWW I didn't even think of that. Like, not for a second, lol. Thank you, Gustavo!
@@Ibrahim_M Glad to help! lol a new video showing the process would be cool haha I'm gonna try it too.
@@Ibrahim_M There´s other acessories on his belt too, maybe you could cut them off and glue on the mcfarlane version.
@@gustavobarbosa1944 I thought about doing that with the belt, but I looked at pics of the hot toys version and the McFarlane belt was more accurate to that. And since the hot toys are so detailed and accurate I kept it in line with that. But I’ll probably use the belt on something else in the future. I like to keep everything because I usually need it eventually, haha.
Awesome tutorial! Can't wait to try it. What brand paints do you use for the gray (and on figures general), thanks!
Thanks! If you check out my Joker head painting tutorial video I show the brands I use! Good luck with you custom- I hope you have fun with it!
@@Ibrahim_M Cool, thanks I'll check it out!
I picked up the McFarlane Batman but got one without the neck protector it has the cowl down piece so I have been looking for the correct one but it seems they are gone
I can’t believe they’re not offering a replacement piece for that. I’ve heard that those versions also have an upside down stomach piece. If you put the figure in super-hit water you can pop it apart really easily and fix it. Also, if the cowl-down neck piece is two parts glued together, the hot water will make it so you can peel it apart really easily. Good luck!
Can we see how it look with the original head?
I don't have the original anymore, I'm afraid. But I didn't do anything to it, so if you have the McFarlane figure, it looks the same.
@@Ibrahim_M ah it's ok. Btw, what paint did u use when you painted the suit
@@switch.8536 Deco Art Grey. Should be able to find it at any craft store or online, and it's usually only like $1.50 for a bottle (USD)
Is there a good set of upgrades for this figure are you going to buy it?
I've seen that people have been making some 3D printed stuff, but I'm pretty happy with this one as-is. I'm mainly a Mezco collector, and I pre-ordered their The Batman figure, so I think that one will be the :ultimate/final" version in my collection. I have the Hot Wheels 1/10 scale RC batmobile on order, and I really can't wait to see if it scales with this figure, or if the Mezco one will be the better fit. McFarlane's DC stuff runs big, so I'm thinking the car will go better with the Mezco version.
How about yourself?
@@Ibrahim_M I have an Ash Mezco nice piece but is too small, the set to upgrade the Mcfarlane Batman has two heads "Hot Toys" quality (unmasked and with the mask) and some extra hands. If you have Instagram I can send you the link.
@@rodristrongest Ohhh I've seen that one! I forgot about it-- the Muff Toys set. Yeah, it looks incredible. I might actually get it for the Mezco one, I meant to see if they;re doing it in a 1/12 scale, too. You picking those up?
I feel you on the size thing, when I started customizing/collecting, I was all about Neca figures, and personally I live the size of a 7" figure the best. But I'm always looking for realism and the soft goods on Mezcos and other brands got me, haha.
Why didn’t you cut out the logo on the chest like in the film??
Because I didn't want to
What brand and color paint did you use?
The grey is just a $2 hobby store acrylic brand, “Art Deco” I think, and the face paint is Vallejo acrylic.
I managed to snag that bendyfig for $10
Heres the true story.... saw the dremel tool and was like... ooh, that dremel wiould be perfect for making customs... but i already have three dremel tools... how do i get the wife to sign off on another one?... "look babe! We can use this dremel for Fido, hell love it!"
😂😂😂
Would you consider selling one as a commission piece?
Thanks for asking! I'm afraid I don't have the time, as everything I make is generally for my own collection, I do it once, and then I move on to the next thing on my long list of stuff I want to make for my shelves. But if you search #customactionfigure on IG and find someone who does commissions, you're more than welcome to send them this link and they can use the recipe (they may have a better one, too!)
How did you shorten the arms?
I suspended the figure over a small pot of boiled water so that just the arms were in the hot water (make sure to use tongs so that you don’t burn yourself). After a minute or two in the water, the glue that holds the forearms into their peg becomes loose and you can pull them off pretty easily. Then I used a dremel tool to hollow the forearms a bit, and I cut the peg that inserts into them to make it shorter. It takes a bit of work to do all of that, but the result is worth it!
If you got to the 9:00 mark in the video I talk about it and show the plan
@@Ibrahim_M thanks! Yeah, that sounds like a lot of work, but its definitely worth it. Thanks for the answer and great tutorial! I'll try to do the same changes to my own figure, but it'll probably look like crap.
@@justaguywhossomethingofasc9023 You're welcome! No I think it'll turn out great! There's very little artistry involved with the arms part. It's more just the mechanics of measuring and cutting. You got this!!
Is that paint enamel? Acrylic?
Acrylic.
Enamel never truly dries well enough.
@@knightghost1782 thanks, the most experience I’ve got on painting any type of collectible is applying matte coat on Gunpla
Acrylic! The grey is just a $2 hobby store paint, and the face paint is Vallejo (I think that latter is generally made/used for painting gaming miniatures).
