Why are they so aggressive when showing the shifters? Lol

If someone built a slow, cheap interior, boxy, rugged 4 door 4x4 like this today and sold it for 18K they wouldn’t be able to make them fast enough.

That rugged styling still looks good. Old. But attractive. I remember seeing these everywhere as a kid. My step dad borrowed someones red 5 speed Rodeo and I remember it being so exotic to me. It was the first SUV I ever rode in as a kid.

Friend of mine growing up had one of these. They ended up flipping the thing less than a mile from my house. going down a skinny dirt road, the rear wheel got sucked into the side of the road, causing the thing to flip front end first. They walked home with only their dad having a bloody arm.

I swapped the mechanical fan with an electric fan on an automated circuit, shrunk the spark gap down to .035. This thing turned into a whole new beast, 24mpg avarage and torque boardering on unruley. Love it.

Always liked the looks of these and the Passport. Rugged and pretty unique looking for their time!

In Australia our version of that was called the Holden/Isuzu Frontera, the Holden/Isuzu Rodeo downunder was a cab/chassis U in long or short wheelbase in 2 seat, space cab with a really small flat bench in the back along with a proper 4 door version, we only had the 2.6L with 5 speed/4 speed auto and the only other engine was a diesel 2.2L same transmission options, I owned a long wheelbase 2 seat version with the 2.6L/5 speed and it was pretty good for burnouts but with a long chassis drifting it in the wet was fun 😀

In Germany this car was released as the Opel Frontera. I own one from 1995 and drive it daily. I really like the classic design and mine even got a bull bar with attached highbeams and fog lamps. Unlike modern cars you actually have a lot of interior space (also due to not having airbags lol) and the truck is capable of proper offroading which many modern cars are not really designed for anymore. The Rodeo/Frontera is also pretty easy to repair due to its relatively simple technology.

Accumulates speed like a treasury bond accumulates interest.

My family had one growing up, I'm feeling so nostalgic for it.
