We bought a 1993 Rodeo in 2006, drove it to Canada and Mexico, twice before selling it...just loved this car!!
My parents got married in a 92' Isuzu Rodeo XS with the 3.1 V6. We've had it ever since. That thing is incredibly reliable. We even pushed her hard on Ozark backwoods trails where we're at it and it felt as smooth as a rollercoaster.
I just got a '96 Rodeo LS...and LOVE it! What a great SUV!
How's it working out? I found the same one you have for 1400, 130k miles and all the maintenance records. Only bad thing is it has no stereo but i can do that my self.
I have a 1996 rebadged Honda Passport with 146k miles on it. It’s been in the family since 2000. The paint is faded, the interior is outdated, it’s been in two car accidents, air bags have been deployed, and I use a cassette adapter to listen to music through my iPhone but I love it and above all it stills runs.
Just have a 97 rodeo 3.2 v6 and dont change, i love so much, and is amazing the compact of the suspension, no funky sound from any component, really smooth. 160k miles and on the road.
I got 4x4 1993
185k miles
Still running great.
Got 92 v6 5 spd about 7 years ago and it's been through hell and back...my friends and tried killing it several times but it refuses to die so I gave up and bought another vehicle but I had to keep the rodeo because it's such a good work horse and the suspension is so heavy duty I could fill the truck up with anything and it just keeps hauling.
Un carro carne de perro muy duros y de combate de excelente calidad, lástima que ya no los hacen.
i got a 94 isuzu 4x4 rodeo... best purchase in my life... still kicking...
I'm Watching in 2021❤👍
I'd love to get a 92 ls rodeo. I own a 95 passport with a 2wd to 4wd conversion and I love it. ISUZU ROCKS
Dre12k found a tranny with a transfer case and got both front and rear axles from a 4wd. Conversion works like a charm.
The cast member from the Sopranos is just tearing apart the other SUVs at the end .... savage
Thanks for uploading this! I love Isuzus, so this was a really interesting watch!
Final thought: the fact that this car company even had a goal of making something good AND at an affordable price, is just an element that is not factored into modern car sales strategy
affordable price? I remember looking at these rodeos in the showroom back then. The sticker price was $31k+ , hardly "affordable", at least for me in that time (circa 1999)
I had a 94 LS v6 standard 5sp ... what a beast with @400,000km body held up good no problems with motor a new clutch a little pricey in 2003 was $700 or more
My second car was a 1994 rodeo and it was a great truck to own. Even at 280k miles the engine and transmission still ran great compared to other cars with rhat many miles.
Watching this in 2019...👀
Lo estoy viendo en 2024 y tengo una camioneta isuzu rodeo me encantan estas máquinas son bravas
RODEO ISUZU = THE BEST 🤗🥇❤🗝👌🏅👍❤👍💎💎💎💎💎💎💎👌✅💯✅
My Dad had this car in green from 1994 to 2005 I believe the LS trim with the v6 and 4wd. One of my favorite cars
Quiero una rodeo ❤
Dude I love your sizing up the competition segments! Well done, SIA for life!
Thanks Paul -- I worked for Isuzu at the time, so all of my videos were designed to highlight the Isuzu advantages. I was also under the constraints of making these in such a way that it would make Isuzu corporate happy. So, even though I was improvising throughout, it had to have a certain cadence for my bosses at the time. I have thought about making new videos on my own -- I mean there are so many people doing these and many of them don't really know the vehicles all that well, but apparently, that doesn't matter than much. Being watchable is what counts most.
Love my Rodeo. The best SUV!!!
A rodeo will outlive you. It's a tank.
Well, mine didn't, got hit by a Ford F Series front collision and shitty Buick LaCrosse rear collision, happened like 2 years ago. It barely ran afterwards and we used for 5 extra days and it finally broke away. Afterwards we junked it, it had 205,000+ miles on it and it could've kept going, if it weren't for those two dip shits.
Bought a new LS in 1995 ,it was a good one...Wish they were still in The US..
Loving my 91 Rodeo 4x4 manual V6.
wow, wish I had seen this earlier, probably would have bought a rodeo. I always suspected they were good, but never had the details. thanks for uploading
Ah, back when solid axles, body on frame chassis and 4WD with at least an LSD in the back defined an SUV.
We gotta go back to basics
Thanks Bryan B This brings me back, to 1991 when we fist bought ours. A few of our favorite items were the Automatic locking hubs, and the Manual Transmission.
It's hard to believe that the Rodeo has been gone for so long. It was such a great vehicle with fantastic styling. Unfortunately, Isuzu's business acumen in the US was not as good as it's vehicles. They were too small to really compete. I do miss the days when I worked at American Isuzu Motors, but it seems like a lifetime ago.
I have more of these videos, but have not gotten around to posting them. I have to first convert them for VHS to digital and it's just something I have not had time to do, but I will soon.
@@Mnsnutn Okay, now you're just showing off lol j/k But honestly.. That would actually be a Christmas Present to all of us Whom loved the Isuzu brand and drove them back in the good old days..
Thank you so much once again for posting such rarity, and relics.
Thank you for uploading this video. Hard to find much information on the older isuzu trucks. I'm trying to buy a 1992 rodeo 5 speed 4x4. Only has 98k but owes 8months in back fees to the dmv. Trying to work out a deal with the owner. Car needs some tlc as it has sat for a year. Trying to buy it for no more than $1500 total fees and all. Plan is to add a calamari lift on it, replace all the fluids, new belts and tires. Then use it as a camping and road trip vehicle.
No reason to buy a lift kit. Crank up the front torsion bars, flip the upper ball joints and get a longer shackle for the rear leak springs. That'll give a lil over a three inch lift
Машина Супер. Car-Super!!!
Yeah, really tough to get into that rear seat of the Pathfinder...haha
Have a 95' Passport. Great shape..Been everywhere, done everything! Fish, Hunt, Camp, Work. And, 37 Babies later, you can see there's plenty of room in the back. Ha! Jus kidding!
I heard that the older Passports and Rodeos are Less complicated than the newer models. Still, Honda, Izuzu makes Quality vehicles. When mine is Finished, I'll turn it into a Fish Tank!
Owned it since 97''.
Thomas Buckley I’ll be waiting to see a passport fishtank one day, I’ll hold you too that! Haha
Any more videos on Isuzu you can upload? thank you so much for uploading this.i used to own a blue mica 1995 Isuzu rodeo. kept the snowflakes but slapped 31 in mud tires on it. unfortunately, on April 17, 2016, she threw a rod bearing and needed a rebuild.I had no funds for that but an Isuzu collector did buy it from me and I hear it has a new engine and is retired from offroading ever again.I sure do miss it time to time. the mileage before the rod threw was( 207k)
Yes, as a matter of fact I do -- just haven't gotten around to uploading them yet.
Give us more of this please
i have 1998 isuzu rodeo. so very good car
I just bought one two months ago it may be in the most messed up condition but this thing still goes fast still goes thru snow and ice and only thing that went out recently is electrical system for lamps but otherwise I love it I named mine Franky after Frankenstein
Last year, I bought a used 1991 JDM Isuzu MU Wizard SUV 3.0 Turbo Diesel (US Version is Isuzu Rodeo / Honda Passport) with conversations of RHD to LHD and 4X4 AT Trans (dead) to 2WD Manual for P 80,000 PHP (around 1500 USD), as I own it, another convertion/recondition costing me 100,000 PHP (around 1800 USD), and recently me and my mechanic overhauled the Cooling System along with Fuel System costing me around P 30,000 (around 500 USD).... Pending projects are Suspension System, New Tires and Paint to achieve a somewhat "Perfection". This dinged and scratched Used SUV may lack of tech and specs compare to Modern SUVs but still presentable, decent looking, NO ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER BS, Mechanical Injection Pump, Mechanical Power Steering, Not Computer Controlled AC, Basic Power Window, Great Suspension, 3.0 Turbo Diesel Engine, etc... And most of all... Can bring you any place you go if you take good care of it. My point is, if I buy a Brand New 2023 Version of this, a 2023 Isuzu MU X will cost me 2,500,000 PHP (around 45,000 USD)! That is CASH, NOT FINANCED MONTHLY PAYMENT! Imagine that!
This video would be worth watching even if it was just the part comparing top SUVs of 1992...biased as it may be
vehicle of Isuzu the best...,for family.....tks
In 29th Tokyo Motor Show, this was born as a preproduction LHD unit called Rodeo Wagon. This was expected greatly to seek global success. In fact it does, at least some years in the past...
Tengo un izuzo Rodeó del 1995 es un tren en la carretera no lo cambió por ninguno moderno
yo, nice video! I'm a proud owner of a 1995 Opel Frontera 2.2i which is basically the German/European version of the Isuzu Rodeo (which itself is just the American version of the original Japanese Isuzu MU) and I instantly fell in love.
WHAT AMAZING VIDEO ! Thank s Bryan Bloch. Do you have some video or material of ISUZU XU1(concept suv), in my opinion the best design of the suvs.
Got me a 99 Passport which is a re badged rodeo and loving it
ชอบมากครับ

My dream car!! Lol
This is SO cool
This video completely trashed all the brands and sold me into the isuzu rodeo
*"Don't let me lose you, I'm not trying to confuse you when I let loose with this Uzi and shoot through your Isuzu!"*
Maravilla de ingenieria...tengo un Rodeo 98.. con 598 mil kilometros.. nunca reparado de motor.. transmision .. y diferenciales.... no hay mejor vehiculo q este..
I owned a 1992 Rodeo and loved it. We put around 200k miles on it before reluctantly selling it. Currently have a 2000 Honda Passport. 185k miles and still runs and looks good. Great in the snow. I wish they still made these vehicles. I’d be a buyer.
Can't find 93 for this ad. :(
Bryan, do you happen to know what differentials were used in these awesome vehicles?

Great video I enjoyed watching it, but the Isuzu Rodeo was out of its league against the 4Runner.

Does the guy know that the windows might not go down all the way because it is a child safety feature
I was the guy in the video. The windows not going all way down was a safety feature -- but only if the video was designed to promote the competitive vehicles with that feature that appear in this video. In other words, if I was working for Ford and the windows didn't go down all the way, I would say that was a safety feature. The idea being that in sales training videos (and this was a sales training video for Isuzu sales people), you have to take the features you have and try to make them sound like they are better than the features the competition has, so, like I said, if I had been working for Ford, I would have mentioned the exact feature you mentioned as a "safety" feature. However, since I worked for Isuzu at the time, I pointed out the reality -- that the doors are too narrow at the bottom to allow the windows to go all the way down. Isuzu did not have that "fake: safety feature -- but what Isuzu had instead was a real safety feature: The driver was able to electronically lock the back windows completely so that children and/or pets could not accidentally open the back windows at all. Keep in mind that a partially open window can still be dangerous to a child or a pet riding alone in the back seat. The child or pet could stick their head out for example and have it knocked off by a passing truck for example.
One other thing to keep in mind is that this tape was created in 1992 and I only put them up here for fun and to share with friends. I am not currently trying to promote the 1992 Isuzu Rodeo -- LOL.
A child that not understands safety in a car should be secured in a safety seat, even more if you are driving an off road vehicle.

First generation Isuzu Rodeos... these vehicles won´t die. See them all the time in rough terrains in Panama, Costa Rica and Colombia. These beasts were made to last!
No, they give shitty shit to 3rd world shitholes!!! Look @ what those drug dealers are driving in "Panama, Costa Rica and Colombia" they're not driving Isuzu Rodeos!!!
@@SupaNami Drug dealers don't get to drive anything when they end up shot dead. Don't talk shit.
Иво Георгиев Point being that the richer folk quite obviously don’t drive average civilian vehicles made available by the immediate government.
