Joan is actually 54 years old in this. She was known for fibbing about her age at times. This was a 1987 interview because she said she was married to Edgar for 22 years. She was fired from fox a few months before this interview. Shortly after this Edgar committed suicide. Very sad. Thanks for posting this she's always so funny.
Good detective work re: the year of broadcast 👏🏽👏🏽 And thus Joan's age in this: 54, rather than 52 | Your discovery is further backed up by Joan's dress. This style of fashion / 'power dressing' was all the rage in 1987. Where-as if this had been 1985, Joan would have been in pastels, the dress would have been a lot 'softer' / more folkloric and more than likely in wool.

People often talk about Michael Parkinson's show as the classic British chatshow but I always preferred Michael Aspel's show back in the day

1987 was not a happy year for Joan. In 1986 she started her own talk show with Fox TV and Johnny Carson disowned her for leaving his show. Her husband killed himself due to financial issues and the axing of her Fox show. Not a great year.

I love Joan but it seems like she really hates herself considering her jokes are so harsh on her image. Lol its pretty funny so I hope she’s just joking. Either way she looks great. I thought she was 30 in this video and she’s 50. She looks so wonderful. Sad we lost her.
She only had a few jokes (funny ones), which is why she made a better runway carpet interviewer than a stand-ip comedian with her impromptu humor.
P.S. Saggy skin is not attractive on either sex; he needed some PDO threads too, even though that was not a thing then, and so stars ended up looking a bit unnatural, like he did by the Nineties.
