***** About Venison for Dinner *****
Thank you for joining us on this crazy journey! Our family- Kate and Marius plus our five kids, have always enjoyed living a homemade life whenever possible. Moving 1000 miles north in 2017 to Northern BC, Canada upped our game even more. We live on a 34 acre homestead and get a kick out of things like raising our own meat, dairy and vegetables. Theres plenty of failures, you’ll be sure to see those here too. We’re a homeschooling family who believes life is the best teacher but we do hit the books in winter. I’m so glad you’re here, I hope you stick around!
We put out 2 new videos every week! Wednesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

I know it can be chaos but it looks so fun! I can’t wait until we have cows & pigs..& everything in between! I go pick up 50 lbs of peaches next week to put away for the winter! I wish I could afford more but this will be a start! 🍑

You can peaches like we can peaches! A couple hundred pounds and everyone on duty. Mr Tea set me up with a shop light on the back deck so I can haul out the three-burner propane stove and set up some tables, and we can do the canning out there as well as in the kitchen at any time of day. Absolutely fabulous having that extra space. Enjoy!

T post clips! The metal clip kind. So sturdy. We’ve never had a pig escape cattle panels - buuuut hot wire is even better if you really want to keep them in! Glad she came all the way to your milking barn vs. going straight for the garden!

Just seeing this video but when you said the pigs won't get out until your husband isn't home. Is so true! My husband was at work, our huge pig got out and wouldn't go back in. Called my husband and he said just dispatch him. So I did. Processed a whole pig with a 3 month old baby in a stroller on our wedding anniversary by myself! When my husband got home he was hanging from the tractor bucket ready to be turned into cuts!

I had two very young Jersey heifer calves that have gotten them self out of the pens twice this week. It was actually funny that how the followed me when I fed the rest of calves. Yes my husband wasn’t anywhere close. I never thought an intacted bore would be good eating, but I never ate one.

I know of another channel that has harvested an intact boar said they didn't notice a difference.

This reminds me of my youth! With 12 kids we'd get lots of food in bushel boxes and can for days!!

You all do amazing work! I love how everyone chips in with everything! I've never canned anything more than jam but this is tempting me! There's an orchard just down the road.

Wow! That was a good days work. How many quarts did you end up with? And did you butcher the pigs the next day? I have used so much twine to patch fences. 😊
Did Mossy not make it? I don't have social media, so I don't get to see your Instagram updates.

Hey Kate! Do u have the recipe your using for the peach pie filling or raspberry jam? Just started using Pomona's and ended up turning my apricots into Apricot Brick rather than jam 🤣
