Never liked the drudgery Southgate has served up...doesn't get the max out of his team...but he has got us to final even if it has been bloody awful to watch..i hope it's his last game and i hope he uses it to put right the mistakes he made in 21 that cost us the trophy...will be more difficult this time not playing a fading Italian side... hope tactically he pushes on and if we look at any moment we are taking the foot off he doesn't wait he is proactive and make changes to force the issue..the Spanish certainly wont sit off us...go to win and not just survive or what's the point...we have the players get it done then please walk away.

The football under Southgate has been awful, his negativity cost us in the last euros and we have managed to get to another final inspite of him not because of him. His time is up and the FA are being naive to think the fans still want him

I would love to see Southgate in charge of the press relations, team morale, organizing team bonding and arranging the Christmas party but let's leave squad and team selection, tactics, substitutions and in game management to someone who knows what they're doing.

As an Irish observer of Englands run to final and previous tournaments, which previous England manager had these traits that you listed and how did that work out in the past?
Surely a previous manager had similar quality and depth that GS has currently at his disposal with this squad
Its interesting for me as an outsider, to see a team that has made consecutive finals of the Euros and a not too shabby WC record under their current manager, but the fans still demanding more, smacks of greediness given the famine that they had to endure for decades previously

Simon Jordan was asked whether Eddie’s Howe was the right manager to take Newcastle to greater heights. His answer was, “as good as he is I don’t believe he has what it takes”. Gareth Southgate I believe is in the same boat. He has done wonders behind the scenes, he has created the foundations for England. England now need a more technical and experienced game management manager to come in.

Win or lose the final it’s time to change things so we stand the best chance of success at the world cup. Southgate has built a good foundation but in this euros he’s shown that he can’t maximize the potential of the talent in the squad by implementing an effective system and playing style.
I’d like to see Eddie Howe takeover and have the next 2 years to get to grips with the job. It could be our best chance of glory at the World Cup. As Pearce says here, Southgate could stay on in some capacity to help that transition.
Psycho has never been the sharpest tool in the box. Southgate has been incredibly lucky and has to go - who else is going to have him? Certainly not in the PL. Tuchel for me. I know he's German, but he has 10 major competition wins under his belt.

He’s done a great job. The football ain’t the prettiest but he gets results. A semi a quarter and 2 finals ain’t fluke. You can argue that we had easy draws but I believe Southgate is savvy and he makes sure he gets the easier games
