I was so late with Canibus, I didn't realize how sharp he was til years later after he battled LL. The first song that grabbed me was Buckingham palace. After hearing Buckingham palace, I search some of his catalog and think he could hang with Cassidy at that time. Canibus major mistake was pulling out his rhyme book in midst of a battle. As far as skill, Canibus was a beast. Cassidy has even had great respect for him and in his personal top 5.
Cassidy wasn’t even popping in Philly at the time Canibus made buckingham place and I’m from Philly. Canibus would’ve washed young Cass back then. Cass probably looked up to Bis at that time. Cass is a beast so respect your him just stating facts.

I was in 9th grade, and everybody that was rhyming back then, tried to switch their style to be more complex, because of Canibus. When he came out, you couldn’t rhyme regular anymore. In 2000-2001, “mixtape Cassidy” had the same effect… we started seeing more punchline rappers pop up on mixtapes, because of him (and 16 year old J. Hood). 💯
