Mainely Hockey Cards here, and today, let’s go over the entire 2022-23 Upper Deck Series 2 Young Guns checklist. This crop has some high-end names, but overall, it's a bit of a weak checklist.
I’ll be going over each Young Gun individually, as well as attaching a grade from F to A+ as my thoughts on their investment potential.
Per a common request, here are all 50 Young Guns and their grades:

Pretty accurate grades imo! Love the top-end talent in this set, but the decision to include Buoy instead of a guy like Juuso Parssinen is honestly mind-boggling
A few of the D-men were a little too high but otherwise I agree. Good list.

I typically have terrible luck with retail boxes and packs but I’ve bought two small blaster boxes of series 2 from target and pulled Shane Wright then Dylan Guenther. The other young guns were C/D- tier but it’s hard to complain when you get 2 of the top 5 guys in my first 2 boxes. Couldn’t wait for the Epack release anymore. Also pulled a Ray Borque “Retired Canvas” card and it was red like the canvas young gun cards. Is it a new insert? Are they rare? Thanks for making these videos man! Really helps me with eBay and my collection in general ✊

Thanks for your analysis. Agree that not as strong as S1 this year. Some good ones at the top, but then lots of question marks and older prospects with low upside. However looking forward to the new series.

Yup a very weak series 2 YG crop. When I first saw that the checklist was out I checked it out and looked at the YG's checklist and when I looked at who was on for the MN Wild (my PC), I was wondering who the hell those guys were. Don't remember them in a game.

Out of the 2 blaster Boxes I opened, I have pulled a Jake Sanderson out of a Walmart Blaster Box but it 's got a white top right corner on the large picture side of the card and it's not the kind flaw to the corner where it is soft and flaky. And the other Blaster box I opened had a Brandt Clarke and that one had a soft and flaky top left corner. I was lucky to choose the blasters I chose but the good young guns I got have flaws to them.

It’s given on potential. For all I know, none of these guys could hit that potential, but it is still there upon their release.

I far prefer a new mascot showing up in the young guns set over a 150 card lineup of a bunch of guys who played 1 NHL game and spend the rest of their career in the Swedish league or KHL. Buoy will always be worth more than at least 80% of the other young guns.
That is a bold statement. Personally, I’d rather have a rookie who’s played 1 game over someone that dresses up in a costume and entertains fans. After all, the person that plays 1 NHL game, is a complete statistical anomaly.

As a Wild fan this is a disaster. Very hard to get excited about this crop.

He just turned 19, was the 4th overall pick, has his feet wet in the NHL, is in an organization that has so far brought out the best in young players (i.e. McCann, Tolvanen, Beniers), and has a competitive edge to prove everyone wrong about him not being the best pick in that draft class. Not to mention, while we look at just 2 points in his first 8 NHL games, he did have 4 goals in 5 AHL games, and being sent back to the OHL is probably best for his development to fine tune his game.
I prefer a mascot than any player like Lizotte or Prow that never gonna get another NHL game at least the card has value lol
