    I just want to mention for the super poor people like myself that Sultan Instruments currently sells the cheapest ouds that I have seen in any of the online music stores. Their beginner ouds are $279

      I bought one of their cheap beginner models in 2021, the bridge came unglued in 4 months and the peg box broke a couple of months later. Definitely do not recommend.

    Hello Nabil, Thank for this video. I am an intermediate left-handed player. Is it possible to have a sultan model made especially for me (reverse pegs and strings). is it also possible to have 12 pegs to be able to vary between the 2 types of arabic tuning. Low (do--/fafa/lala/rere/solsol/dodo) and high (fafa/lala/rere/solsol/dodo/ fafa) ?
    Thank you

    the sultan plus oud and NVG 300 both have a different story to tell , both sound great in their own beauty , the sultan plus oud is more affordable that the other, but both have importance in their own perspective .

    What do you think about the Godin multi oud (the one with the guitar tuners)

    $999 is entry level? I think this statement could use some context. My version of entry level is $300-700. My first oud was $150, and playing it sounded like cats fighting in a wet paper back in an abandoned subway tunnel. If I were a professional, I think $999 for entry level would be more appropriate.

    Hi Navid, what do you think is better for a left-handed player, to play oud upside down (treble courses on top), or to re-string the oud to become as if it's a normal right handed oud but for a left handed player?

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  Рік тому +1

      A left handed player should play left handed. But it doesn't matter if you just turn a right handed oud upside down and teach yourself. I've seen people play left handed with right handed ouds but turned the other way., But if you want to follow a certain school and teacher then it's best to have it set up specifically for left handedness.

    Navid may i ask if the strings are the same on both ouds? also can we know if the dozan are the same?

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  Рік тому +1

      Tuning is the same, but the strings are different. Nvg 300 has aquila and sultan plus has a mix of different strings.

    I currently have an oud it is 20 years old made by a Kuwaiti luthier. There is a beautiful Rapakousios being sold for $1900 CAD in my city and I don't know if I should buy it or not since that is a lot of money. Is that a good price for a Rapakousios?

    Do you have any recommendations for ouds for petites that still retain a warm sound? I’m currently playing on an inexpensive Turkish oud but am not satisfied with the tone, especially as I prefer Arabic classical repertoire.

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  Рік тому +1

      This is a tall order. It takes a lot of skill in a luthier to make a big beefy sound out of a smaller oud. Ouds are already so small... maybe adapting the way you hold the oud can help? I've seen large overweight people play normal sized ouds just fine. I've seen smaller women play large Ouds too. I would recommend Najib Shaheen oudman.com to build you a custom oud with a premade small bowl. If anyone can do it, he can.

      @@OudforGuitarists holding the oud is a struggle. I’ve tried a few positions with both right and left arm, pushing the neck further outwards etc and it’s a struggle.

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  Рік тому

      @@yubbadubbadubba it's a struggle for everyone at first. How long have you been playing? If you get in the habit of holding it well, it usually still takes a couple years to really feel comfortable with it.

    My teacher, I wanna buy one of the the 399$ Ouds from the ethnic musical website …. But I’m confused if they are are good enough…. I’m an advanced Oud player with a low budget .
    Do they have the same sound and quality like this sultan plus , have you ever tried one of them ? Please I’m without the instrument I need your advice ❤

    • @OudforGuitarists

      I haven't played one of their $399 tier models. I have some students that use them, and they are happy. They tune well.
      If you have a low budget, but you are advanced, then I might also suggest you contact Sam Ouds @samouds1811 ---> www.youtube.com/@samouds1811

      If I had no other life responsibilities I would probably practice 5 hours a day. But these days I usually practice for 45 mins on average.
