Great vid. Looking to get the same setup as you, but wondering how useful the rangefinder in a match would be. I only do rimfire prs and I think the Kilo5 would be overkill for my use. Any other recommendations for a rangefinder?
Hi ThatTron! Funny you should ask about alternatives. So I actually moved to the Revic rangefinder which is about twice the price as the kilo5...But I moved to the Revic BECAUSE of the 22 LR stuff. I found the Kilo5 challenged with picking up those very small targets at say 150 yards and on the center fire stuff, it did have a challenge past 700 yards. The Revic is unbelievable and I have a video on that coming out soon. You won't be disappointed by the Kilo5, it's a great rangefinder. Thanks for watching!
Hey I really appreciate the video. I can't find much info about these.
One quick question... when it is linked to the kestrel does the display inside the rangefinder give the firing solution that the kestrel gives or does it still use the AB Ultralite firing solution?
I see that it updates the range on the kestrel and in your video the firing solutions appeared in the range finder display. However the Mil values were different in the rangefinder from what you showed on the kestrel. But I'm not sure if you changed the settings in between.
What I want to know is, if I have the rangefinder paired to the kestrel and I range a target > than 800 yards (AB ultralite only provides solutions up to 800 yards) will the firing solution appear in the range finder or do I have to look on the kestrel?

Hi Muley GOAT! I've since moved on to another range finder, but according to the manual FAQ:
Q: My KILO is set to AB External but isn’t displaying holdover information. A: To display a complete ballistic solution your KILO must be actively paired with a Kestrel. No holdover information is displayed unless the Kestrel and KILO are both on and actively paired
Q: My KILO and Kestrel are paired but I am not getting anything but zero’s for elevation and wind holds. A: You need to setup at least one custom bullet profile on your Kestrel. See the Kestrel instructions for setting up a bullet profile.
If I recall, the KILO will display the elevation information based on the Kestrel's profile for that cartridge. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

You should get the kestrel hud. I have the Kilo BDXs (last gen not the one that just came out). It all talks to each other so you can create a target card on your rifle so easily as you range the targets on the SIG.

@@The4GunGuy Not much bigger than a data card - a bit thicker though. I’ve never had problems, it then folds in quite nicely.

Kestrel should really make the user interface modern (E.G. touchscreen). The current set up of clicking up & down pressing enter and all is 90s to early 00s technology.
Hi Manolo! Totally agree with you. When I did my new review on the Revic rangefinder (what I'm using now), I saw that they were coming out with a environment and ballistic computer similar to the Kestrel, but the interface looked much more modern. I may have to try one of them when they release it. Thanks for watching my friend!
Hello! Does it only measure distance or direction as well?(targets can be in different places so the wind direction for them will also change)
