wow these pieces of information are incredibly helpful. the point you made about note-taking is quite similar to the advice i got from professional interpreters, however you explained it more deeply & insightfully. thank you 🎉

I took college based Medical Interpreting course. But I think his course is overall better and easy to understand.
So clear and simple explanation. Thank you for the videos! Mason.

Thank you sooooo much, you re the only one that have been clarify this issue for me. I m taking a bad training in a LSP, and it is awful, rude, ugly , worse and all the bad ways you can find in English. They made the applicants cry, is weird how people without nothing of studies, can be trainer of some important topic like this. Really, thank you for this, it will help me a lot in my way to learn to be a medical interpreter. God bless you Mason ! I couldn't realize how they say they are trainers....???? And tha´s true, that LSP treat so bad the applicants Because they never mention any method any explanation, only say, make the rendition and take notes like it was as common as breath. Again, thank you !

@@masontheinterpreter Yes, you re kind, please help with the correct way to learn note taking, I m going crazy trying to write strategic words, others say...without vowels, other symbols, anything that works for us, but the big problem for me is to catch those words as the speed of the person who speaks... . Thank you if you can do some videos. God Bless you and give you another amazing job.

A side note About *Note taking* thought it might be helpful for some :
remember guys , Note taking actually take A LOT out of your concentration at first , so having a lot of misinterpretation at first is actually it's not because u're not taking note its actually because u're taking note as its really distracting , and u would even be better off to just put down your pen and just LISTEN and analyze , as note taking is there to help u remember , not to take away from it .
and take it from someone who used to write down A LOT while note taking , it was really exhausted and counter-productive as no matter what u write down fast and try to get everything u can't interpret what u didn't understand and actually absorb .
so u need to be brave and try to interpret without note taking to begin with (in some cases) and just relay on your memory (u'll be surprised) .
**if u gonna Note Take , please guys don't instantly start taking notes the moment the speakers start speaking , that's a common mistake , u'll get exhausted fast and u won't understand what u're writing in context and ur interpretation will suffer , u need to let some space for u to understand what is begin said first for a few seconds then note down what's important**

They pay us $6/hour in Mexico 🤡 and I know the pay even less in some other countries in LATAM.
Sadly, I'm pretty sure they will prioritize interpreters under these ridiculous rates.

Many other interpreters have expressed concerns regarding this matter. I am working on a video that talks about the wage discrepancy between US & Non-US based interpreters, so stay tuned please!

@@masontheinterpreter Rate in mexico is 0,21 USD/min for FL, and 6 USD for dedicated schedule and additional hours. The call flow on FL is almost non-existent, and the call flow on DS and AH is the worst back to back ever. Anyway, they just sent an email stating that all of us will get fired (or rehired under much worse working conditions, because they want to hire us through an outsourcing company, just as LLS does in our country). I hope these numbers and info are helpful for your video.
