Possibly the most misunderstood arc in OP with some incredible foreshadowing connecting back from Skypiea and Hordy is for sure a character that does what's supposed to do. Best character for what Oda was trying to tell in this arc. Blind, mindless, generational hate because of how your surroundings raised you. The big problem with this arc is anime pacing, which Toei f-ed up. Glad to see you enjoyed some really good highs of this arc!

Say what you want to trash this Arc but to me it's one if the best Arc of One Piece because it opens up to me that Onep Piece have so many stories that can still bring even after the marineford Arc (note that I've watched this Arc since the day it came up and I was young then and everyone else is hyping on Naruto Shippuden while I'm hyping this One).
Unfortunately Toei made One Piece PT hard to like, so I understand why Fishman Island left a bad impression among fans. They also added filler that contradicts the character of Hody Jones. Honestly though, I find the idea of Hody as a villain beautiful and well executed, and you can't judge a character by how strong he is. He was born in an environment where it was told of a hero who burned down slave shops, and it's true. Whoever this man was, he was a hero. He had Arlong as a mentor. Hody is Otohime's biggest fear and I love how Oda describes Tiger, Jinbe, Arlong and Hody as different approaches to the same social problem. Hody didn't even know Tiger, how could he have inserted his ideologies in the right way. Hody could never understand the profound change Jinbe had after being able to be in contact with Koala. His hatred comes from the ignorance and closed-mindedness of someone who has never known a human. Is everything beautiful? Absolutely not. Fishman Island definitely has some problems related to the initial stages and how Oda introduces such an important theme with a deeply annoying Gag like Sanji's. Furthermore, Hody's crew is full of useless, annoying and poorly developed characters.

Even after seeing how the girl, Koala, instinctually cleaned her blood because of how she was basically rewired by the Celestial Dragons, you don't even fully understand how horrible they are until later. After catching up to the story, you understand why she would behave this way for so long and struggle to break that habit. It's HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, there aren't enough adjectives to describe how terrible the CDs are to their slaves.
A WARLORD OF THE SEA on the ship is very reassuring, the fact that theyre entering the realm of the 4 EMPERORS! they need a nakama as strong as jimbei ...

Bro U should've watched edited version honestly the only arc I have seen only once and its coming from someone who have seen every other arc least 3 times, except for 2moments I forgot everything that happened in fisherman kinda excited, it's like watching it for the first time.
This is such a good arc for me tho. I enjoyed everything in it except the fight( always happens when they drag) and re-read it when that certain flashback came out in the manga. That's when I came up with many theories and it was so much fun and there are so many details that appear and you forget as years pass
