  • model engine crankshaft machined from free cutting stainless steel bar. I find that free cutting stainless is the best option for most jobs when making model engines, as it machine very easy and it does not go rusty.

      thanks john for your comment sorry my voice is a bit odd but its good old south oxfordshire one. just finishing a woodpecker engine so back to the work shop. regards alan

    yay keeping persistent that'll flow things sorted mate. By the way, me as a precise mechanic there will always be attention to these sort of parts. And so for the 'unlearned' wich are gettin more and more interested in dozens of scale models.
    Neat to see that you've mounted the crank on the crank cheek. Proper if you have a chuck that big to hold the mount.

      its myford vme model no longer sell them, they have a 30"x8" bed nice size mill . alan

    hello Alan ... just watched your video from some years ago now and very interested in your method; could I ask though if you had any problems with the shafts on either side of the web going out of alignment once you cut the bulk of the remaining web material away ...       hi, the crank shaft i was turning was for a half scale 8 stroke aeromtor hit and miss engine, i allso taper fit all my flywheels now keeps them running true. i screw on dummy key shafts on endto look correct. alan
