When an American family is invited to spend the weekend at the idyllic country estate of a charming British family they befriended on vacation, what begins as a dream holiday soon warps into a snarled psychological nightmare.
From Blumhouse, the producer of The Black Phone, Get Out and The Invisible Man, comes an intense suspense thriller for our modern age, starring BAFTA award-winner James McAvoy (Split, Glass) in a riveting performance as the charismatic, alpha-male estate owner whose untrammeled hospitality masks an unspeakable darkness.
Speak No Evil stars Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate, Halt and Catch Fire) and SAG award-winner Scoot McNairy (Argo, A Quiet Place Part II) as American couple Louise and Ben Dalton, who, along with their 11-year-old daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler; The Good Nurse, Riverdale), accept the weekend-holiday invitation of Paddy (McAvoy), his wife Ciara (Aisling Franciosi; Game of Thrones, The Fall) and their furtive, mute son Ant (newcomer Daniel Hough).
Written for the screen and directed by James Watkins, the writer-director of Eden Lake and the award-winning gothic ghost story The Woman in Black, Speak No Evil is based on the screenplay of the 2022 Danish horror sensation Gæsterne, written by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup. That film earned 11 Danish Film Awards nominations, the Danish equivalent of the Oscars.
Speak No Evil is produced by Jason Blum (Five Nights at Freddy’s, M3GAN) for Blumhouse and by Paul Ritchie (McMafia, The Ipcress File) and is executive produced by Beatriz Sequeira for Blumhouse, Jacob Jarek and Christian Tafdrup.

He does a great job at acting crazy. I wonder if they'll keep the original ending.

Hes very good but for a movie like this its better to have unknown actors so it seems real thats why I wanna see the Foreign version

If this movie doesn't do great at the box office, blame the trailers for giving away all the plot and twists away.
True!!!!!
They gave everything away😩
I mean… it’s a remake soooo…
It’s a remake with a higher budget. Spoiler they kill the mother and father and steal their daughter and kill the boy. It’s just insane serial killer couple that can get away with their stuff because the protagonist are sheep. This movie is extremely aggravating to watch. If that was their goal bravo they nailed it.
This is a remake of the original Dutch film
Not only is James McAvoy one of the best actors working out there right now, but he’s probably one of the top three best face actors I’ve ever seen. He’s just so good with expressions!
Really? It's the same face all the time. Nothing new. Just the same as the M Night movies but rated R
@@Upsideround you’re missing the point, it’s not about how many times he makes or doesn’t make the same expression. His face acting does a lot of work too show what’s going on with him.

That's why I don't even watch trailers anymore 😒
The art of trailers has been going down hill for years,
The original film was... very disturbing

Right .. I'm confused he didn't
That just showed literally everything, including what the parents did to their mute son. The whole premise rests on the uncertainty of the danger and they spent half the trailer showing how it all goes down.
Im gonna take a guess and say they’ll change the ending for American audiences versus the original Danish ending
Yeah, this looks awful.
I mean it’s a remake so you kinda already know the plot anyway if you’ve seen the original. The original pissed me off so bad because the family literally did not try once to fight back, and this trailer seems like they are trying to for the reason alone I’m about watch it. Hopefully they actually survive in this one
@@Lolo-m5o sure they do.
@@Lolo-m5othe whole movie was about how cowardly Bjorn was, even patrick said he did everything “because you (Bjørn) let me”. If the movie made you mad it did its job, it’s supposed to demonstrate the consequences of inaction and cowardice
James McAvoy can deliver so many unspoken lines with a squint of an eye or an upward motion of his bottom lip. Even a twitch in his eyebrow can say something sinister so loudly. He’s a true talent. Love all his films!
Damn near showed the whole movie fr
Incredible how much of the plot they showed, having watched the original the exciting aspect was not knowing about the evil until about 1/3 through
OK so what yall gonna do about it?
Ah, they ruined the movie. Kid has tongue cut out as he belongs to a different family that was taken previously. My bet is they are in the basement/cellar scene. Hence, why it's called "see no evil." All the surprise is gone. I am skipping this. This is the problem with movies today.
I have seen gore before. Films have become lame and predictable. Next.

This film is based on the Danish and Dutch film with the same name. Highly recommend it, probably one of the best horror movies of 2022 and one of the best I've seen in recent years. No unnecessary jump scares, just consistently scary, uncomfortable and creepy.

James McAvoy can speak with his eye 👁️
Bro...James's smile made me shiver down my spine! Dude is an underrated actor.
When I first learned that a Hollywood version of "Speak No Evil" was coming and that James McAvoy would be in it, I thought he would play the weak man’s character, as both actors look quite similar. In my mind, Karl Urban was the choice for the villain.
Good choice and he sorta looks like the Patrick
Why did you think that? Just curious
Hahaha makes sense from a “Billy Butcher”😂. But I do kinda agree, more distinguished Macho man, than the skinnier guy that James McAvoy USED to be. James acting as psycho is pretty unique & seems almost untouchable.

Looks like this family puts up a bit of a fight in this one. That was my only issue with the original, but it was a great watch.
i was livid with the dad on the original one
I actually loved that about the original - that it dared to show characters who were genuinely weak, breakable and unable to handle a dangerous situation + the grim consequences of these traits.
All Americans (regardless of gender and age) are able to kill themselves out of any situation in at least 50 various ways, so it's only natural a remake would adress such cultural differences.
That drove me crazy, the most cowardly characters in the history of storytelling. But yes, looks like this family might be naive but are at least going to go out swinging.
@@thehitherto5348 I think the only cultural difference I can see from the trailer is that a complex film rich in ambiguity and human emotion has had the intelligence dumbed down and the violence turned up for popcorn munchers with a short attention span.
That was the whole point of the original. That politeness gets taken too far. You cannot offend people, especially a host. It was a Danish director who thinks that Danes are too polite and scared of making waves. So they just keep getting led further and further into danger, rather than being rude.
Normally I'm not fan of remakes but James Mcavoy playing a Psycho killer is my favourite genre
James Mcavoy has such good rang and this movie looks awesome!
When I see a movie with James McAvoy you know it's going to be good

James McaVoy is such an underrated actor!
He's not underrated at all
No way I could watch this movie. I would be terrified. James McAvoy is such a superb actor. I saw him in person in a play in London and he was excellent. Although the range of characters he has played is wide, he does menacing men perhaps the best of all
The original is a good movie so I'm a little skeptical. But James McAvoy's performance alone is enough of a good reason to see this
McAvoy' s always the only one suited to certain roles!

The whole point of the original was that they did not fight back. The remake seems to abandon that and turn it into a full-on action movie.
