1070 is a legend. After the GTX 1660, 1660 Ti, 1660 Super, it is also on par with the RTX 3050. Having 8 GB of VRAM is admirable for 2016.
It's more than 15% slower than 3050 on average as well as it doesn't have rt and DLSS feature so I would say that 1070Ti or 1080 are on par with 3050

@@xstongames4778 You're telling me that after nvidia got a node advantage (because samsung 8nm is still better than tsmc's 12nm), 6 years time period and 2 new architectures, all they can manage is to basically edge out the gtx 1070 while using only slightly less power than it? And I am to assume DLSS is the one that exists, right? Not like FSR or NIS exist and can be run on a much wider selection of games. All the while the rtx 3050 really costs $300+ (likely $350 even in normal times), because we know that nvidia already has trouble manufacturing the rtx 3050 at $250.

GTX 900/1000 Series are the last era of price and performance GPUs.

Its just a naming scheme by now. i3 used to be a dual core nothing. Now a i3 12100f for 120$ deals blows to a i7 or is even just under a i9 9900k in games (look it up if you don't believe)

Tiger Lake i7-11800H is better than the i3-12100F while power consumption is similar.

@@Kuri_Vone 3050 has DLSS, easily more than 30% perfomance boost and Cyberbug 2077 is playable with RT, meanwhile 6500XT gets less than 10 fps with RT.
3050 also includes hardware encoder/decoder.

If you can find a cheap 2nd hand 3060 vanilla, sell your gtx1070 and pay less than 100$ to upgrade. I know it is a card that is very hard to let go but in near future 2nd hand value of 1070 is gonna plummet. Sell it while it still holds some value and as I said, get a 2nd hand rtx 3060. It has 12gigs of vram which means it will keep its value for a long time unlike say a 3060ti, since that vram is very valuable among entry level professional media and content creators wanting to be able to at least work on 4k content, again, unlike 3060ti.
I have always seen gpus as tradable goods and since my very first 8800gt back in the day, I always kept an eye on second hand values and was able to change my cards basically for near free. Just keep an eye out for valuable 2nd handers and your current gpu, read the market and do your change at the right time. Again I highly recommend vanilla 3060 for it is very cheap now and has future proofing in its vram value, of which the closes competitor being the 3080...

And here is a tip: A 6 months old mining card has a lot lot more life left than a 3 year old gamer card😉. Got my Nvida GTX 1070 Ti in 2017. Thing still holds up today. Struggles a bit at 4K but 1440p at 60/120FPS for most games including modern ones is insane for a card I got over 4 years ago. Mind you I paid MSRP so very hard to justify buying a 20/30 series card with the ridiculous prices today. Maybe once the market calms down I'll finally upgrade especially after the reveal of the 40 series cards prices.
The 1070 ti really is a beast of a bargain I got an MSI aero 1070 ti for just 140$ that's just about 10to20 bucks more than the standard gtx 1070 and best thing is after you overclocked it the card performs like a gtx 1080
Have a 6900xt now, but I regret ever selling my 1070. Such a great performing and looking card. Till this day, the 1000 series had the best GPU designs IMO.

I got my used 1070 few years ago, and the price of this card in 2nd-hand market still holds, even had gone above the price I bought it.
It is the only computer thing I have seen that is able to hold its value after years.
At max this GPU should be pricing around 200$.. but it's costing around 400$ here

Totally agree with you my 1070 did well on most modern with maxed out setting RTfeature off doing 30+-fps which is insane considering their age the issue mostly comes from my 3770k

Something kinda like GTX 770 vs GTX 1050 Ti nowadays huh? But the gap of TDP between GTX 1070 and RTX 3050 can be negligible, quite opposite to the gap of TDP between previous mentioned!
A controversial comparison ... 770 was produced in 2gb, a 4gb version is rare. And most importantly, the 1050Ti overtakes the 770 in all respects. The 3050 overtakes the 1070 due to drivers. I could be wrong, but I don't think I'm wrong)))
I paid like 100 Canadian dollars for my 1070 a couple weeks ago. I paired it with a Ryzen 5 2600 ($50). And got some other budget parts. In total it cost 400 Canadian dollars but the performance is great for games I play. It runs all my games at close to 150 to 200 FPS on medium settings.

I have a 1070ti OC and it performs identically to the 3050, the 3050 is between a 1080 and a 1070ti... with DLSS and RTX having all the technologies but the 10 series is a great NVIDIA series, it has its time and it still fights.

i have 1070 with 12700k and it runs great, i replaced my old 6700k for the 12700 k, with 6700k i had in warzone at low settings in fhd 85-105fps, now 100-135
BF2042 with 6700k 65fps on low with massive lags, 25-35 at ultra, now 90-110 on middle settings without any lag, 40-50 at ultra (but still at middle settings it looks 100 times better then warzone on high settings xD), forza horizon 5 with 6700k 45-65 fps on high settings, now 80-100fps on high setting, ultra 70-85fps
i bought the 1070 in 2019 for RE2 Remake, second hand for 270euro, till 2019 i had R9 280x, RE2R 30-40fps this was a no go for an oldschool RE fan since 1996 xDxD Welcome 1070 xD

The real legend is still the 1080 and with more budget the 1080 ti. Even in new AAA Games those GPUs can compare with new GPUs. Combined with a 10400F you have the best value/performance.

At the point where i wrote the comment the 1080 ti for 350€ used was the best choice. Now it is the 3070 non ti thats right or the 6700xt.
The RTX 3050 is basically a 1070 Ti which is both impressive but depressing. At $250 it doesn't make sense. If it were more $180 which is slightly above the MSRP of the 1050 Ti, then that would've been much more solid of an option.
Edit: Theoretically speaking in a fantasy world where MSRP actually existed in a time long, long ago.

Listen man. I'm so sick and tired of these videos. apparently, according to many videos, a 3050 beats the 1080. Yet it doesn't beat a 2060 or 1660ti, which the 1080 beats. Well, its mostly the same as 2060, with some games better and some less - they trade blows.

I bought 1070 in October 2016. I overclocked the memory to 4600Mgz (+800), I'm sure with this overclocking it will overtake 3050 (with acceleration up to 8000)....

The 3050 is solid. I currently have a 1070 in my rig still. Hoping to upgrade to a 3060 or 3060TI soon. Im guessing that will be more than enough for 1080p gaming
3060 ti is overkill for 1080p, I would say the rtx 3060 is good for 1080p and 3060 ti is for 1440p.
the 3060 ti is perfect for 1080p, it allows you to play e-sports in a very competitive way and play modern AAAs with ultra settings and with a little DLSS you can also put Ray Tracing on

@@aristotel_1201 yeah most of the work is done by the gpu, higher resolution = more gpu demanding. if you play on 4k or 8k, pairing a 3090 with an older ryzen 9/i9 or the latest ryzen 7/i7 wont bother your fps by much. cmiiw.

Good thing I came across this video. Was debating which one to get. A 2nd hand gtx 1070 for about 200$ or a new rtx 3050 for 400$ where I live. I think it's clear I should go with the 1070. Don't care about Ray tracing or dlss. Fsr is available and I have a program on my pc that I use like dlss.

Aliexpress is a great option, best prices ate there. And dlss wasnt turned on, so keep in mind that the 3050 would get a big gap between the 1070 with dlss. Doesnt change the fact that gpu market is trash rn

Nvidia slows down older cards through drivers,just look at Witcher 3,only 3 fps between them,while the performance in newer games is way bigger due to nvidia killing the 1070's performance through drivers.

This GPU only supports DLSS, you can't play it with ray tracing if you have to get the graphics to medium to have an constant 30 fps in most games while without ray tracing you get constant 60 frames at high in most games
I expected the difference to be bigger because that 3050 has arround 600 cuda cores more and its 2 gens ahead.
The memory bandwidth is 1/10 lower only compere to the 1070.
You know Moore's Law is dying when a card that cost $450 in 2016 performs about on par with a card that cost $300-350 in 2022 and they consume similar amounts of power.

@@amadzack666 if u are on budget and u want more fps there is an option for that with dlss witch 1070 dont have and i think it is huge deal with any 3000 series card ( ik they cost alot but like i said u get latest dlss that improves fps by tone and if u play on 2k or 4k difference in picture is almost none in most games and u get insane amount of fps) also i have 3070 and pls on good 2k monitor so i can tell u dlss if pretty good in any game

So after 6 years, a $249 MSRP card is only 5%-10% faster than a 2016 $349 card.
Turing and Ampere have been absolute disappointments.

You basically paying for RTX and DLSS in 3050. If only the price is a bit lower then guess it would be a good 3k series entry level card.

i have zotac gtx 1070 amp, but from the fps of the several games on the video, my gtx 1070 have better result, just like on the gow with same scene, i never get that low fps, I have 7 fps more.

Maybe are i wrong, but i can see mem is only between 6-7 GB in ultra and high settings with 2k, so 12gb are overkill

0.1% Lows getting worse and worse on newer generations. Reddit and other platforms are full of people experiencing stutters on high end PCs.
My RX6700XT replacing a GTX1070 took the fun out of every game I played because of this. Stuttering in every damn game and driver crashes all day long.
Got better with a RTX4070 but framedrops still happen sometimes. It seems like NVIDIA and AMD don't give a shit about their drivers any longer. Pushing new generations of cards into the market and as long as people buy it they don't care.

The 1070 is an awesome buy for the gamer on a budget. Find a nice, used example that's been looked after and get a lot of performance for a third of the price of the 3050 new.

power consumption of nvidia gpus now days are very bad.
eating to much power.
even rtx 3050 eat 150 watts.
gtx 1650 super used 100 watts.
gtx 1050 ti used 75 watts.
nvidia not focusing on power consumption any more.
Seems to be up to 10 percent extra FPS with better stability overall.

The rtx 3050 is good for those with gt and gtx 750 ti cards as well gtx 1650. I got my rtx 3050 for 250 dollars local since the rx 6600 is 300 dolllars and in my country we do not have a second hand market. Also I upgraded from a gt 1030 that I had for 5 years so its good. If the prices was the same as the usa here I would have gone for the rx 6600. In the usa the rx 6600 is 239 dollars and on par with the rtx 3060 with raw performance and cosuming 50-70w less power.

Not sure, in some resolutions, RTX has to be on to allow DLSS option, so there's more chance there will be loss actually (or same result but with Ray-tracing).

I bet a million that Ngreedia could make the 1070 get better frame rates if they optimized more like they always do on their new series. Otherwise in raw stats the 1070 beats 3050 every time.
My Asus ROG Strix GTX 980 Ti OC Edition performs even better. It is a real monster.
The 1070 (or even the 1070ti) is the card I would've gone for, if I was able to physically get a job in 2017 and such.
I had personal reasons why I couldn't get a job right away, but also because no one would accept me besides idiots who would quit after a month :\
that was also over a year since I graduated, and just nothing.
I decided to wait after school to get a proper job, since my personal things, and school would get in the way of even a part time job, and bosses aren't exactly kind to part timers with certain requirements they PHYSICALLY need *cough* (medical) to live.
damn this is just amazing! I have been waiting for the RTX 3050 for some time now to upgrade from my GTX 1050 Ti but the prices are still f*cked up so.....

I forgot to say that the RTX 3050 is even more amazing when you factor in DLSS! of course older cards can use FSR for fps boost but it's nice to being able to use both!
I don't think that's the optimum upgrade considering the 3050 is between 1070 and 1080 in performance. You want 3060 at the minimum to upgrade from a 1050ti, otherwise save your money and just buy a 1080 that still beats the 3050.
No le hagas caso al man de arriba no tiene idea, en el vídeo se prueba sin las tecnologías dlss y RT , eso te da un montón de FPS más en los juegos con los gráficos en ultra , y prácticamente todos los juegos actuales están siendo optimizados para la generación 30 , por lo tanto es una gran mejora a tu 1050ti y ni pienses en comprar la generación 10 le quedan a lo más 1 año de vida
@@varmastiko2908 dude I upgraded my 1050ti to a 1070 and the change was hugeee I bought it some months ago so I did not have a lot of choises. As I play on 1080p I would never regret about it. maybe next year I'll get a 3070.
