Of all the parking brake videos I've watched I didn't know just by adjusting the cables you could repair the dreaded sqauk noise..thankyou Comedy:once I managed to pull the handbrake release cable while fitting a new propshaft!!! 😭 luckily with two pulls of the lever it relatched itself and returned to normal 😅
Hehehe, you lucky man! 😂 I have changed the propshaft three times and don’t think I have seen the cable, so managing to pull it is a feat of it’s self. 👍 If the brake shoe mechanism is in good nick this should be enough. I haven’t checked but I’m guessing it’s part for the yearly service for Land Rover. 😊
I did the first one the year before, so on the right track. 😀 I didn't do this one the first time as I was missing the correct spanner. At the end, a year later, I got angry and said I wasn't leaving the garage before it was replaced, no matter the tools I have. And it worked, got it out and a new one in. 👍👍
I noticed you didn't put your tires underneath the car as a backup. If Jack stands fail, I always use my tires when working underneath any vehicle as a secondary safety lr3 is a very heavy vehicle. I will admit I hate ebrake, and if your vehicle is not manual transmission, nobody sets brake. This is why I love my old 04 D2 it's an old-school style brake that is actually strange it's on the drive line , I just installed my 4in terrafirma lift kit, and arb front bull bumper with 12k terrafirma winch with remote and synthetic rope , I have taken down headliner previous owner had use a staple gun to keep liner up so tacky , what I love about the D2 is nobody hardly drives anymore everyone wants new with car payment I only gave 600 for this old D2 and I probably drop between 8 to 10k on upgrades and overlanding gear here in usa you can find cheap good deals I still have my lr3 it has a suspension fault I can't figure out and I replaced all suspension components new it worked fine until I fix the suspension that wasn't broken just upgrades everything it makes no sense, stop buying cheap Chinese tools most are junk but most manufacturers name brands are Chinese built so sad 😊
Hey James and sorry for the late reply. 😊 I saw it was a longer one so wanted time to read it and write a proper reply. I usually add some tires when I will go underneath the car, for wheel changes and quick jobs like the this I don't bother. I should, but I don't. 😅 I have felt the threat of the 3Ton Discovery when I have been underneath changing the props shaft, fiksing the EPB or changing out the rear brake lines. It always takes some time before I feel comfortable enough to do the job. I definitely want a lift with locking. E-brake, I am not sure they are a problem, but a manual one is definitely easier to fix if something goes wrong, I had the same driveline one on my 2000 Defender. If the Disco get serviced as it should, the Ebrake won't fail, just think that is has been on the Car since 2008 and seen wet and salty conditions every winter since then. Pretty good I think. Would I have preferred to see a manual parking break on the D3, yes. 😊 Sounds like it's coming along nicely, your D2, and I think you will have so much fun in that car compared to what you payed for it, and it's such a capable car as stock. With the added winch, same one I would like to put on mine, there's basically no limit where you can travel. I would love to build up a D2 as a off-roader at some point, so cool cars with a little lift and bigger tires. D3, for suspension parts I would go original or OEM, nothing else, they have also lasted on my car since 2008, can't really complain about that as steel springs would have snapped two times by now. 😅 And yeah, I buy proper tools and parts, buy thing that last, better for our sanity and better for the environment as well. Thanks for a great comment and a update on your build! 🤙 Wish you the best! Simon
Hey, I just went for some regular ones, maybe should have gone for the uprated like you have done. I haven’t changed these before in the ten years of owning the car so I’m hoping these will last for another ten years. 🤞🤞 Next time, if the car hasn’t rusted away by then. 😅
Do you think they made the squeaky sound like that on purpose? 😂 It's like it taunting me.... 😤
It's very satisfying when you do not hear that squeal after a EPB service. Well done.
Yeah, and when you can use it without afterthought. 🤣
Thanks! 😊
Always a good idea to keep on top of adjusting the hand brake😁
Hehehe, yeah, like keeping up with the changing of engines. 😂😂
@LandRoverDrive 😂😂😂

Hehehe, damn, been a long time since I have seen Daffy Duck. 😊
Good old kids television. 👌
