Have you ever tried homebrewing beer?
Nope
Nope, but I make ice cream and some deserts since I got fired, I have to say that it feels really compelling to hear people saying that they enjoy what you make and it's an amazing process when they give you ideas to get better.:)
*Edit, ohh and it has teach me to be more patient, to understand the process, timing, etc.
Yes, moonshine turned out to be better in the end
I've made honey mead. came out really good, surprised me
Beer? never. Kvass? Yes, kamarad.
(It all started with a mountain of leftover bread near expiration)
President of Gaming is teaching beer brewing , all gather round.
I have only just started learning about homebrewing! There's nothing quite as exciting as starting a new Skill Tree.
I'm glad you're trying all kinds of stuff and having fun That's what life is about
This definitely seems like it will be fun learning all about the process and understanding the difference aspects of flavour and texture to beer.
Talk of home brewing and games, with banjo and a rustic barn bar in the background? I watch.
Thank you! I hope you enjoy the video. That's me playing various banjos in the background.
I was promised old men playing banjos in space and... y'know what? I'm glad if anything was going to be true it was the banjo. Banjos need atmosphere to make noise anyway.
Dude is a certified G.I.P.
(Gaming Industry President) 👌
I work at a "beer wholesale distributor." (Certain states have odd laws where beer cannot be sold in the same building as wine/liquor) We exclusively sell beer, singles, 6 packs, cases...etc. So all day long I have to exactly what you described at 2:49 and ask people what they are looking for in a beer. "I want something hazy." "Do you know any good sours?" "What can I get for someone who loves porters but has tried everything popular?" "Do you have anything with blueberry in it?" I hear this stuff all the time. So have all of my fellow employees. Look for people like me to get your dialog options for the townsfolk.
That's great. Thank you for sharing that. There is a lot for me to learn on the topic so I'm very much looking forward to that.
@sungrandstudios np. Also, idk how it works there. But here, grocery stores that sell beer/wine, the employees are designated because they need a certificate to sell alcohol. So they are probably familiar with all of these questions also.
the modern gaming industry drives me to drink
maybe i should homebrew
😂
I also homebrew! I homebrewed so far my 3DS, Wii, PS Vita... Oh wait you mean homebrew like brewing alcohol? Ohh... Nevermind. 😅
I do enjoy me some homebrew! Do be sure to check my itch.io for my Vita homebrew from last Halloween!
he has red stuff in his mouth. It looks groos!
For a brief moment, I had these "VA-11 HALL-A" vibes (Which is good, very relaxing VN game with huge deep plots), then you mention horror.... Now im interested further!!
My sister got me a kit a few years ago for Christmas. I made one batch and it was terrible so I just decided to go back to buying beer that's already been made.
This is my first time trying homebrew so there's a good chance I'll mess something up and end up with a bad batch. That's part of the learning process and I'll be able to use that experience!
Just remember no matter how bad the homebrew beer, it tastes great with Tomato Juice (or fruit juice of your choice).
Beer makes everything fun!,like driving
I'm so glad I found your channel, Learning is such a huge part of being a Game Dev and the way you approach it is so relaxed and calm about it all.
Thanks for subscribing. I'm glad to hear from you. I'll do my best to share useful information. Like any other skill, you should enjoy game development as you explore it.
So funny seeing a Coopers brewing kit. As I drive past the brewery everyday here in my hometown.
It seem like it’s easy to get set up. I’ve always wanted to try home brewing! I just bought some Sechzuan pickle jars. That’s my current project lol.
Oh hey Kenney! These kits make it really easy to jump right in to homebrewing. They're a kind of "gateway".
I know you’re a bit above it now that you’ve found what works for you and it didn’t get many views compared to your other content.
But I really enjoyed your insight on the upcoming bleach game from its trailers. You offered an expert eye that nobody else did. A new trailer just came out. If there’s anything new there you hadn’t covered before I’d really like to see your comments.
I feel like creators should pursue a bunch of different interests. A well rounded set of skills is useful anywhere in life, but especially in creative fields.
I recently got into building Gundam and other mecha model kits and I think it's really stoking my creativity as a writer. I like building the more advanced kits that have full inner frames (ie, the skeleton of the robot) and the experience had made me better able to visualize the inner workings of machines and how they fit together. I guess it's no surprise that many mangaka, animators and game devs build model kits.
I'm already brewing a mecha story in my head. And I will probably finally learn how to make 3d models in blender so I can design my own mecha.
That's awesome. Be sure to check back in and let me know how your 3D modelling learning is going. I'm a huge Gundam fan, and Mecha fan in general.
I’ve recently started doing kefir and it has helped my digestive system so much. Im trying beet kvass (for the girlfriend) and kombucha because i love tea. It’s the 2nd best hobby ever.
2nd only to gaming
I love videos like this man. Listening to you talk so passionately about your projects brings me so much joy. Hope your first batch will turn out to be pure gold.
Thank you for enjoying the videos. It's great to hear from you. I'll keep up the regular uploads then. I'll post an update with how the first batch turns out.
Nice I also do in my spare time creating flavored syrup into sodas
Oh now that sounds great!
Wow that's funny. You get the hangover guests to fight enemies lol. That's a unique take. I remember playing Soda Dungeon and actually liked the idea of gathering heroes based on the drinks you make and facing enemies with said heroes. I like it, especially if you're taking the horror route.
In 2019, coal miners were told, 'learn to code.' Now, thanks to AI and ideological straightjackets, coders will have to learn to make funny videos.
Going to watch this after some rest but I totally agree with the thumbnail. There can be all kinds of benefits to expanding your knowledge outside of strictly game design and coding.
Also, if beer is too intensive try mead. It's as simple as you make it.
Real life brewing sweet:), I always loved these mods in minecraft wishing I could one day do it in person, really living a chill life
What an awesome Business Expense! Thank you for showing this in your video and spreading the awareness, allowing people the opportunity to decide if they want this thing that they now know about!
Lovely Business Expense!
Hahaha. I swear it is a business expense!
Send your Beer to me, to Bavaria. i'll rate it 😂
Jokes asside, i really agree with many things your saying, your a smart man.
Haha, I will have to make sure I can make a decent brew first! Thank you for watching.
The way you conduct yourself makes me so nostalgic for the internet of the early 2000s. The era before smartphones... when it felt like most people took the time to be polite and pleasant to engage with. We were just happy to chat with our fellow internet denizens. There was no divide among people... what happened? I miss it, sir. I miss it very much. Thanks for the fire.
The world will continue to change ever out of our control. The only thing we have any real control over is our own actions. I remain collected and treat people with understanding and respect because that is the world I want to see. How you've described your feeling is exactly why I created my Silver Falls series; it takes place in a world where people didn't become obsessed with social media and technology, and instead spend more time outdoors and dealing with people face to face.
There are games out there which have such deep underlying lore and themes in conjuncture with gameplay mechanics under the hood that they improve a game from surface level entertaining to masterpiece. And I always think to myself - how is this even possible. Well, this is how - an abundance of real life experience.
Go darker you need to get them into your house so the evil spirit chooses them instead of you. Like “the ring”, but beer.
Software engineer in games here not beer but started brewing mead this year, made 4 batches so far and everyone in the office has loved it, been neat to try something new
Nice! That's interesting. I will look up information regarding brewing mead.
This video was interesting enough I think I'm going to get myself one of those homebrew kits and try it for myself, I have really enjoyed every video you have put out so far.
Hey that is great! Be sure to check in and let know how your brew goes. For me, I'm concerned about keeping stable temperature during the brew process. Let's see how our first batches turn out. Thank you for enjoying the videos and hanging out here.
He did now in 14 min more for a brewing game than Ubisofts for Japan - sadly.
Hope the industry is healing soon.
The banjo performance next to a fire pit is a worth a video in itself
The concept for that game sounds interesting, definitely something I would want to play. I might have to invest in a Switch down the road so I can try out your games.
I have personally never tried to do it - Great video again!
Love the moustache at the beginning
Well it seemed to be a requirement for homebrewing.
Dude your stuff just keeps getting better and better! Keep at it bro!
Thank you for that! I'll do my best and keep things chill. Thanks for hanging out.
I have indeed thought of homebrewing moonshine or something.
When you said, "And they'll fight the monster for you!" I started laughing out loud! That's some really cunning self interest there for the game protagonist. I really like it as a goal for the gameplay loop you've described. Do you think you'll just have one chained door... or perhaps more doors beyond the first, each with padlocks and chains with slowly more disturbing clues inside. Like chambers that dual served as monster prison cells, locking more and more dangerous monsters deeper in. That way it would be imperative for the protagonist to find a way to keep multiple Silver Falls monster hunters overnight some nights to be able to have the combat strength to deal with increasingly dangerous chambers.
Just a thought on gameplay loops with narrative rewards based on what you described. Feel free to ignore me if my ideas clash with the layout you have in store for your project.
Thanks for the awesome comment! It's so fun to spitball ideas like this, like sitting at a diner at 2am drinking coffee, talking about game ideas!
You've got great ideas. In this game, there is only one chained door, but there are other sources of threats other than the chained basement!
I have a topic you might be interested in. The smithsonian museum has downloadable scans of different things that are CC0, I would not recommend leaving them in your game when it’s published but it’s a great place to find references for sculpting or models for testing environments.
That sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing that. I will look that up and take a look.
Thats a fun idea for a game.
Probably need to homebrew so that you can deal with the headaches provided by other "developers" lol
Hahaha. I'll take some deep breaths.
Homebrew is also a great easy to GET the headache if you don't know what you're doing :>
awesome concept. getting npc's so drunk they become companions, in a way. its a clever way to add a mechanic and characterization at the same time.
You got it! That's absolutely right. In this case, the NPCs are actually the protagonists from the other games in the Silver Falls series. They all take turns being NPCs through the games in the series.
Try melting a square or two of a hershy bar and adding it to the mix 😉
I'm a .Net Architect and I make my own Mead.
Nice! Nice.
Before Black Ops 5 i didn't have a playstation account i didn't connect to the internet just played fiscal games. But i really wanted to play Black Ops 5 campaign and seeing there is nothing more then multiplayer demo on the disc i had to get a playstation account to install the game. I did enjoy the campaign. Because of that game i had to get a PS account but that mean't i'll also had access to the digital store. In the last 4 years i have played more indie games then i have in my entire life. I actually got a fiscal copy of my favorite indie game METRO 2033 made by 4A GAMES. Only possible because of black ops 5. Right now AAA games are a disaster but AA still goin strong.
Good mindset.
Personally, I have my hands full with all the things a solo developer needs.
A solo developer always has their hands full!
Hey man good luck! I've tried brewing beer a few times myself but always failed (i used too much sugar in ine and honey in another as a sugar alternative) i did however manage to make my own spiced rum successfully and it was amazing!
Hey that's awesome! Glad to hear you found some success with spiced rum. I suspect I may need to try a few times to get it right, but all that experience will help me create an interesting and fun game.
@@sungrandstudios by the way there is a game called brewmaster. Irs a beer brewing simulator that has you go through every single step and if you want it can brew in real world time. That should really help you understand a lot more amd do research. Extremely in depth.
Sometimes a break from the usual and trying something new is a great way to keep things fresh in your own life, and with your audience. I have attempted legally manufacturing mead in the past, but to say the least, the result was rather stale and awkward-tasting due to my inexperience. I can say it was at least an interesting experience.
Hey, that's alright with how the mead turned out. At least you tried and you have experience with it. I'm sure I'll make some mistakes as I continue on my homebrew learning journey. It'll be fun learning and trying new things.
A homebrewing horror game... i love that, especially as a German :D. Don´t forget to include "Obergäriges Bier", like "Altbier", wicht is dark of color with strong taste.
Thank you for that! I will add that to my notes and do research.
Hey man i gotta say ive been loving the content since concord im hoping i get to be like u and get to have my dream job in acting and voice acting one day also man those cookies u made looked amazing during that deadlock video.
It's awesome to hear from you. You absolutely can do it! You often hear from successful voice actors these days who sound just like you, who said they wanted to work hard and work their dream career and they did it. Even if it is tough and takes a while, there is a lot of information and guidance out there to help you, so go for it! You absolutely can do it! Thank you for hanging out here and enjoying the videos. I'll do my best and keep things chill.
@@sungrandstudios Yea im hoping i can get in because all this AI stuff has been scaring me recently.
Will you be foraging fruits and berries for wine and chestnuts for chestnut liqueur? Or just different kinds of beer?
interesting, havent brew beer myself. 😂
Please make more Ubisoft videos, you are the voice of the people
Jerrel is a good dude.
You should record whole brewing process and upload it for us :)
Now there's an interesting idea!
I think this might be Robot Jerrel trying to fool us, he didn't identify himself clearly as a normal human. Big red flag. (Jokes aside, loved this video my man, such a humble and needed approach to how you handle conceptualization)
I love your humor!
My favorite channel!
Thank you for enjoying the channel and hanging out here.
id did homebrew once, left them fermenting to long and made a very strong batch. wasnt bad though!
Hahah that's great.
Coincidentally im oearning to do cooking stuff more and more as gamedev
Im bakin cakes, pies, pizzas, candies, etc, may even try my hand on makin fruit jam someday
Nice! That's great. A friend of mine does jams and brings some over for me when we have a cup of tea.
Im seeing this title President of Gaming or Gaming Industry President. I think the title fits.
This dude found a way to do whatever he wants and class it as a business expense. 😮
Damn that is one nice mug!
You know beer brewing? Damn you really are multi talented
Here are the most common flavors that are used to entice: coffee, chocolate, Carmel, vanilla, peach, blueberry, apricot, orange peel and coriander (blue moon), lemon, lime +salt, cranberry, peanut butter, banana, grapefruit, hazelnut, raspberry, honey, lactose (milk sugar), and every bread product you can think of...
Take me on a journey hobby homie. I'm into it.
Rock on. Let's go then.
Bruh that mug goes hard
1. Horror
2. Try to get guest intoxicated
3. Convince them to sleep in your house
4. Make them figth the monster
Oh no, please, don't make the plot twist "the monster was you all the time"
Here's a twist: The monster was the house all along.
Hahaha. That is great.
@@davesymplot twist twist: it's just a old house needing repair
"help me, there is a water monster on my ceiling" "dude, this is just a leak"
Stay curious stay awesome!
The person will fight the monster for you, until the nicest character in the city is gonna get sacrificed to the basement monster... I'm not falling for that, man of many mugs!
Ah. You're the one who would survive in a horror movie.
The first second I open the video and see you drink from a hamburger cup already made me chuckle
What better what to celebrate my passion for burgers?
Jerrell, do you have any interest in the Dragon Age games? I just found out my choices in all the previous games won't matter (except for 3 in the third game only)... so, I'm out... they do not get my money anymore. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Great to hear from you! I haven't played the DA games but they are absolutely the kind of game I really enjoy. I have been watching that situation closely and am disheartened to see how the game was development. I lack a deeper understanding of the situation behind the development and intent, thus I don't have an educated and informed perspective on the matter. I feel terribly for all the long time DA fans who wanted a game made for them. Trust me, I know how it feels when your a game series you love gets ruined.
@@sungrandstudios Indeed and well put. Thank you for replying. There it is: it's that feeling of betrayal that gamers and movie fans feel, when a group of people (who are not really fans) take over a property we all love.... and then ruin it. I'm so tired of feeling this way.... it's been 10 years of this now. Concordantly, BioWare had 10 years to make this sequel... yet here we are.
This man has the world’s largest collection of hokie coffee mugs
unlocked mr Roger's brewtown. Sweet.
Man. I would have watched if Mr. Rogers had a show about brewing.
Ubislop, a billion dollar company(rapidly turning into a hundred dollar company) can’t be bothered to do proper research on their so-called historically “accurate” game. Meanwhile Jerrel wants to make a Silver Falls game with a beer brewing simulator: “Let me literally go learn how to homebrew beer so I can make my game just right!”
That game idea kinda makes sense lore wise too, after all a lot of Silver Falls locals by now are probably well used to deal with weird monsters and your beer brewer being the proverbial new kid on the block would be completely over his head when it comes to fighting monsters. Man will they fight the monsters drunk and win? That reminds me of a movie where the monsters weakess is literally alcohol, ever you ever seen it? That could be an idea to implement on the game, maybe that is why those particular monsters are locked in the basement in that house, we discover that house and property had been used to homebrew for a long time(like we discover ye old brewing equipment that we may even fix and upgrade during the game) and in time we learn the monsters can be weakened and killed with alcohol which is why the people who used to live there were able to lock them up under the house and keep them under control so they don’t escape into town.
Hey Silver Sonic! Awesome to see you. Man, it's crazy how many more fun people we get to hang out with on this UA-cam channel now, right? Also, "hundred dollar company" made me laugh out loud.
Ok, I remembered the movies name, it’s called Grabbers, it takes place in Ireland, the monsters suck peoples blood and the characters learn that the monsters can’t have any alcohol so they get themselves drunk so they can fight them. It’s a dark comedy and it’s actually a very fun movie, if you never saw it I highly recommend it. Called it research for your game. 😉
Jor-El I've started using you as ASMR
I suppose I could open some crinkly packaging close to the mic.
That’s one rad mug
Unironically a tycoon style game about growing your own brewery might be fun. Perhaps even something set in the prohibition era, where you not only managing brewing and business but avoiding the law would be interesting. A light element of American history and bygone culture. Even after prohibition ended there were "dry" states and counties for years.
Not suggesting instead of your game. Just spilling thoughts off the top of my head.
Yeah that's an awesome idea. Nice one! I dig this kind of thing, since it feels like we're spitballing ideas while having coffee at a diner.
I have to admit, in the thumbnail I thought you'd greenscreened a Skyrim interior or something lmao
That would have been awesome.
coopers?!
AUSTRALIA MENTIONED 🗣🗣🗣
my kind o favorite research 😅
Good enough excuse!
*.............. ~ ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED ~ ............*

_took the first step on your journey to Brewmaster_
another business tax write off could be going to brewery and getting a tours and doing tastings. and talking to the owners.
That's a good idea. That would be great research.
Not enough curl on the ends of that stache.
I'm still learning about good stache form!
He must have an interesting collection of drinking mugs
1:04 The combo was lost
Man you can bake and brew beer too? Whats next?
I can't brew beer yet... Haha. I'll try it and see how well I do. It'll be a fun learning process.
Give it some time and we'll see "Game Developer learns how to brew wine or sake"
Cool, a Bill Cosby simulator ;)
I thought you could turn water into wine
Why not?
What happens to the mustache?
Sorry bro... the Zelda cartridge with the straw is better than the burger cup :P lol
Nothing to be sorry about. I agree with you. Now you're drinking with POWER.
Hopefully other game devs can learn from your thumbnail as this is a pretty cut and dry research expense for tax purposes. I find a lot of indie artists are too timid in claiming expenses. Hopefully your brew is as delicious as your channel is insightful
Thank you for the comment. As independent developers, we have the benefit of being able to explore more creative and experiment experiences for games. We should take that opportunity to create something great for other people.
look into making mead
Could this be considered method game development?
Yes, I suppose you are right!
very cool, this is a great idea of a xmas gift for my mom i'll highly consider since her birthday passed. She has a bad drinking problem and i told her she needs more hobbies and drink less but drinking being a passion so much.. not sure if she ever brewed lol i'll find out without spoiling the surprise, xmas is still a ways but time flies.
Anyways, in covid I didn't wanna spend more time just gaming with no life lol, I had already 2 decades of gaming and didn't need that suffering burden, so, I got chickens as of summer 2020, love em to death, my first flock of 4 are long gone, they lived a good life i'd say, but I started getting more breeds.. Started with Rhode Island Reds & White Leghorns, then I got me a white leghorn rooster who was a meanie but i loved him, more roosters that weren't as mean as him, I had to get rid of them all when I had too many roosters by just selling, i don't wanna cull them, ever lol. someone else culled a rooster for me when a raccoon attacked it and it was barely alive, i would've if nobody else but I had just woken up to the news and yeah, so many damn predator attacks, I just got a BB gun to shoot a raccoon that just got one of my baby black silkies a couple weeks ago, I didn't even know they required a co2 cartridge and doesn't come with one, mind you i'm a game dev too working on many things, so happy with that recent sale of pixel maker MV went from $85 to $13 lol but still on RPG Maker MV for a long project.
So BB guns is a new hobby i'll be trying and i'll use it to defend my flock if I see em again. I had a bunch of chickens and breeds, let me think..
Delawares, mixed mutts, easter eggers still have some favorites, silkies, buff orpingtons and silver sebrights i recently got, I got a new uncommon breed last year I forget the name (Welbar after checking old chat logs xd).. but sometimes i can't afford too many chickens and send up selling some for profit and less spendings, egg selling doesn't pay as much as one may think when the food is so high, and the labor to compress their food can be risky and difficult if you don't know what you're doing, i'd hate to mold pounds of it, and my property just isn't big enough for more than 30-40 I think so I keep it below that. Had an australorp, a breed I was unfamliar with, curly feathers, n few more I can't think of rn, but yeah, it's been a fun several years raising these babies, then I got into 3D Printing this year, I made a lot of cool things, it's quite a lot to learn but Blender designing 3D assets for games actually helps with the skill of 3d printing... you need to know about things like how Ngons don't matter but Manifolds do? unlike game dev, mainifolds are probably irrelevant and ngons are mostly a big nono lol.
Last year I got into motorcycles, I bought a brand new cheap one that arrived like the same time my dad passed away, and motorbikes were his hobby.. we played a lot of games together, he didn't live up to try Skyrim (2010), but we never really played bethesda games, mostly popcap and nintendo, and AoE2 was his favorite if anything. Anyway, with this economy, cars are unaffordable and i love motorcycles, they're not that bad, I passed my license, sold my bike to find an upgrade because it was too small... and uh.. yeah now I can't afford one :/ I would LOVE to afford a new one after I sell my very first game, I actually don't wanna put it very expensive but I could find ways to find a price for it.. from similar competition i can see it more than 20 but i'd be okay with 10, i got at least a year left of work though.
but yeah.. lots of great hobbies to do and encouraged :)
this is becoming my favorit channel to hate on unironically
Home-brew horror game 😂
I never said this before to someone in youtube... could you be my friend?
Hahaha. Well, we can hang out in the Discord. discord.gg/J2TpqEJrSw
