    Yes, as mentioned already, that’s a GC/MF special edition Standard. The Player has the 22 frets but it also gets Alnico humbuckers and coil tap push-pull pots. I don’t have one yet.
    Thanks for the video though because it demonstrates that I definitely need to spend the extra $100 for the Player series over the (very few at this time) leftover standards.

    Holy smokes ! BIG difference. I had just watched a Fender Tele HH demo from a music store in Poland. I really thought that the Fender pickups in the Player Series HH Tele were unappealing. I've never been a fan of Fender humbucking pickups unless they were SHAW-Buckers. (Tim Shaw) Your mod is HUGE! What a superior sound. WOW! Keep up the great work.

    I've had one of these for years, adored the way it played, but always felt like the tone was just not there at all. After seeing this video, I ended up gutting the electronics and threw an emg system with a set of chrome covered active pickups I liked that were in another guitar i had. I don't play a whole lot of metal or anything, but the active pups sound incredible through a vintage or vintage-style tube combo with the volume dimed, real throaty and grimey.

    I changed the magnets to Alnico 5s. Big improvement honestly. Cheap. 15$. 500k pots but 22 cap, brighter. Why 47? That's for single coils to darken them in standard Fenders.
    Anyway, sounds good

    i was about to comment that i was 99% sure thats not a player series tele. the player series they make now doesnt come in that color, doesnt have a pickup ring on the neck pickup, and has a 22 fret neck. but after a quick google i found out that the "player telecaster" and "player series telecaster" are actually 2 different models. the "player series" in the new model from last year that replaced the mexican standard, and the "player" is some sorta limited edition run. fender really needs to get a grip and start using some common sense when naming these things lol.

    Should use the VIbramate V5-TEV-2-ST is the part number I think. V = "Vintage" = 4 screw holes that fit most any MIM guitar. ST = Short = No pickup mounting.

    • @DylanTalksTone

      @@DylanTalksTone Right that's what I'm saying - you used the V5-TEAS right? one would think that if, for whatever, fender decided to go from the 4-screw bridge that the MIM have been for forever to a 3-screw version it'd be easier for all parties involved to just make it the same pattern as the US models therefore making it compatible with the V5-TEAS.

    Hey Dylan,
    This is all good stuff ! Good work. I have installed a Telecaster player neck humbucker pick up at the neck of a player telecaster SS along with a seymour duncan LIL 59 at the bridge. I have changed the volume pot to 500K but the tone is still 250K and the cap is 0.050Uf. If I use coil split at the neck should I use a 250K push pull or 500K push pull ? Also, should I install a 0.022Uf cap ? Let me know. The pick up seems alright with the 500K volume but still a little muddy. The MIM HH seems to be different than the one you have in this video. What is your neck pick up ? Nice, hairy and clear at the same time.

    • @alti_gottem
      @alti_gottem 2 роки тому

      The 250k pot probably compliments the brightness of the lil 59 very well, but the muddiness you describe probably comes from the combination of the pot and the cap. If you're going to go push-pull and get a new potentiometer, i'd just get a 500k to play it safe, then swap the cap if you still think the tone could benefit from being brighter.

    Which size screws are needed for the humbucker height adjustments? I lost (2) of the screws while replacing the pickguard. Does anyone know what the exact screws are that I need to be able to adjust the humbucker height correctly? (The usual humbucker height screws aren't fat enough & don't work...) Any feedback on this matter from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

    Fender must purposely put bad wiring in Player guitars. Why? To make their higher price guitars sound better by comparison. My HH Jazzmaster had a 250k tone pot and 0.1 uF cap! That is crazy! It’s similar to having the jazzmaster in Jazz Mode at all times! Weird.
