So glad I found this! Love the playability of mine hate the sound. Been looking for suggestions! Love the channel!
No headphones needed to hear the difference.
Awesome job!
I didn’t like these before but with the improvements and especially the Bigsby I can how that would be a great addition for anyone really into Telecasters like me. Very cool ‘
Yes, as mentioned already, that’s a GC/MF special edition Standard. The Player has the 22 frets but it also gets Alnico humbuckers and coil tap push-pull pots. I don’t have one yet.
Thanks for the video though because it demonstrates that I definitely need to spend the extra $100 for the Player series over the (very few at this time) leftover standards.
It’s on sale rn for $574 for the player series’s on MF. Just bought it !
.047 uf & .050 uf caps are basically the same cap
Holy smokes ! BIG difference. I had just watched a Fender Tele HH demo from a music store in Poland. I really thought that the Fender pickups in the Player Series HH Tele were unappealing. I've never been a fan of Fender humbucking pickups unless they were SHAW-Buckers. (Tim Shaw) Your mod is HUGE! What a superior sound. WOW! Keep up the great work.
Wow! Vast difference. Thanks for the video! Definitely going to try it out. I just never done it before 😭 but thanks to your video I have a better insight
Sounds way better after your mods - that neck pickup is tasty!
I put Seymour Duncan hot rodded set in my HH, it has coil split. Its a versitile beast..
Have you put those Pickups in the Fender Player Series Tele HH? Do they fit size wise? Thx
@@rolandoo002 Yes! a Tele HH player series, fits perfect.
@@dragan796 Thanks Dragan ;)
250k pots on humbuckers? Man, is someone fired! Nice work.
I've had one of these for years, adored the way it played, but always felt like the tone was just not there at all. After seeing this video, I ended up gutting the electronics and threw an emg system with a set of chrome covered active pickups I liked that were in another guitar i had. I don't play a whole lot of metal or anything, but the active pups sound incredible through a vintage or vintage-style tube combo with the volume dimed, real throaty and grimey.
Nice video!
Wich vibramate and bigsby did you use? I'm about to put one on my Contemporary Squier HH
I changed the magnets to Alnico 5s. Big improvement honestly. Cheap. 15$. 500k pots but 22 cap, brighter. Why 47? That's for single coils to darken them in standard Fenders.
Anyway, sounds good
Killer job, as always. I love the new set and those new pickups thumbs up from me.
yea dude those new pickups sounds wayyy better. you do great work over here.
What camera do you use. Looks great indoors with day light.
i was about to comment that i was 99% sure thats not a player series tele. the player series they make now doesnt come in that color, doesnt have a pickup ring on the neck pickup, and has a 22 fret neck. but after a quick google i found out that the "player telecaster" and "player series telecaster" are actually 2 different models. the "player series" in the new model from last year that replaced the mexican standard, and the "player" is some sorta limited edition run. fender really needs to get a grip and start using some common sense when naming these things lol.
Another thing is that the new player series has 22 frets and this guitar has 21
Great improvement!
Hi there...............Is this the same guitar you are working on>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Fender Player Telecaster HH Maple Fingerboard Limited Edition Electric Guitar Surf Pearl.............With the Alinco 2 Humbuckers..............Thanks
This is the video I was looking for!!!
I would put the switch at the rear....instead of the front.....twist it 180degrees.and put sharks teeth on the neck...and put some locking tooners on it..
It looks awesome though....I need to convert my tidepool....
Ace picker too,brilliant.
If you provided the specs of your upgrade in writing it would be sweet...as I don’t register your quick American accent very well..
Hi, Great vids. Just wondering why it is so hard to find info. about Bigsby pickups how they are made etc.
not a player series, however this is a Fender FSR, a limited run, telcaster HH in seafoam green pearl.
That's hillarious. And it's a real Fender.
Bigsby Tele’s need the control plate flipped
Totally off topic but we wear the same glasses - spec buddies! Great video!
Should use the VIbramate V5-TEV-2-ST is the part number I think. V = "Vintage" = 4 screw holes that fit most any MIM guitar. ST = Short = No pickup mounting.
That is a 4 hole. It does not work on a 3 hole body.
@@DylanTalksTone Ahhhh they changed them up to three hole??? I missed that part And they couldn't at least match the US spacing? Why?!?!? "SCREWS" everything up.
@@huddyskiba1 American teles are three hole as well
@@DylanTalksTone Right that's what I'm saying - you used the V5-TEAS right? one would think that if, for whatever, fender decided to go from the 4-screw bridge that the MIM have been for forever to a 3-screw version it'd be easier for all parties involved to just make it the same pattern as the US models therefore making it compatible with the V5-TEAS.
Great vid Dylan. Though I personally never liked biigsbys. Have you had anything to do with G&L Fullerton Bluesboy. I'm curious if there's any mods that might be good for that.
Beautifully done. Sweet ✅
Not a fan of using cardboard for shims. Major improvement!
Sounds great
Great video. Will a Bigsby with ball bearings fit on this mounting bracket?
I need the bigsby parts man please
What bridge did you use?
From Leo: nice job, I think the tones are great. Good tip on the Bigsby install.
this is shoer cool. love it...the wiring digram link doesn't work though...
"so cool"...I can't type!
Hey Dylan,
This is all good stuff ! Good work. I have installed a Telecaster player neck humbucker pick up at the neck of a player telecaster SS along with a seymour duncan LIL 59 at the bridge. I have changed the volume pot to 500K but the tone is still 250K and the cap is 0.050Uf. If I use coil split at the neck should I use a 250K push pull or 500K push pull ? Also, should I install a 0.022Uf cap ? Let me know. The pick up seems alright with the 500K volume but still a little muddy. The MIM HH seems to be different than the one you have in this video. What is your neck pick up ? Nice, hairy and clear at the same time.
The 250k pot probably compliments the brightness of the lil 59 very well, but the muddiness you describe probably comes from the combination of the pot and the cap. If you're going to go push-pull and get a new potentiometer, i'd just get a 500k to play it safe, then swap the cap if you still think the tone could benefit from being brighter.
@DylanTalksTone I have a similar telecaster with the same modern bridge. I guess I will have to shim it as well. Did the pieces you cut fit the pocket exactly or was it higher or lower in any area?
What would you recommend to do with the ferrules in the back after the bigsby install? Im concerned they may fall out.
They should not fall out, but if they do, just glue them in
Which size screws are needed for the humbucker height adjustments? I lost (2) of the screws while replacing the pickguard. Does anyone know what the exact screws are that I need to be able to adjust the humbucker height correctly? (The usual humbucker height screws aren't fat enough & don't work...) Any feedback on this matter from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
whats the model of the vibramate?
???
@@hansjrgenjulius9429 none of the models shown on the product website are a match for an HH tele.
What is the tonal difference between the DAF and Central Punch pickups?
The Centerpunch is a touch hotter. They are very similar but the Centerpunch is specifically made to split
the before was quite jazzy. but i guess that's not a good stock setting lol
Do they do the player in LHD ?
could you tell me is it ok to have a 500k pot for a single pickup if there is an S S H setup in the guitar?
That's what I would do
thanks , I just stumbled across your videos the other day and they are so very informative
That clarity though! 😎👍
Is it better to contact you through email or FB? I've got something in mind to ask you about.

What’s the sound difference between your alnico 5 and alnico 3 daf pickups?
The 5s are the jam. We rarely make the 3. The 5s are tighter and more articulate
Please which cap did you use here with the 500k pots? Thank you!
He used 47, standard Fender. Why I don't know. Gibson are 22, a bit brighter
What is that bridge you're using with the Bigsby/Vibromate?
yes sir
Fender must purposely put bad wiring in Player guitars. Why? To make their higher price guitars sound better by comparison. My HH Jazzmaster had a 250k tone pot and 0.1 uF cap! That is crazy! It’s similar to having the jazzmaster in Jazz Mode at all times! Weird.
elevate your monitors so that the tweeter is at your ear height
Remind of when people put big spoilers on Civics. Doesn't look right
Whats the model of the bigsby? B5?
yes
You know it’s funny I opened mine up not the same it’s a player tele with hums in it and my pickups are not the same but my pots were and I had to change them. I love Fender guitars but as of late it’s been a shit show over there. They need to get back to quality versus quantity maybe.
Yeah it’s definitely not a player series
