Although BFBC2 destruction isn’t the most realistic the sound it made was always so awesome. Just hearing that loud crumbling followed by silence in the campaign was so memorable for me.
BF1 and BFV had the best physics for debris, BC2 was the most destructive, and BF3 and BF4 had the best animation and visual effects on the collapse. Overall, everything but BF2042 does something right in their own way.

128 players on a server would do that. I dont think there's a server CPU on the market that can give us previous editions of destructibility and handle 128 players on a server at the same time. This is why 32 v 32 was the sweet spot.
BC2 was my first Battlefield, and the destruction blew me away back then, so gonna have to go with that! Absolutely love 3 and 4 as well, and BF4 has to be my all-time favourite I think 🙌
BFBC2 - You could tell that the game was built from the ground up with destruction in mind. Everything essentially could be destroyed and it was an important tool at your disposal that you needed to use to win.
Has to be BC2, could level the entire map, use c4 to make a hole in a wall to snipe through etc. Other games it may look better graphic wise, but for sheer destruction has to be BC2
I also think BC2 did destruction in bf games the best.Out of all the BF games I think they specificly put the most thought into how destruction will affect map flow and stategic options in BC2. It was powerfull, but not too powerfull, buildings still felt like solid structures which can take a hit or two and some key map areas were indestructible. Even after many building in an area were destroied, there was still usually plenty of cover left and infantry didnt get stuck vaulting over invisible objects as much. BF3 tones down the destrution compared to bc2,but as a bf2/2142 player I actually think I prefer having no destruction or minimal destruction in a bf game, because destruction is nice eye candy, but often ruins good map flow in high ticket games. Which is one of my main issues with BF4 and later bf games, where destruction turns most CQ maps into glitchy rubble with no cover, which penalizes PTFO squads pushing objectives and rewards campy sniping playstyles and explosive spam fest stand offs.
Bf1 & 5 were nice because the silhouette & general structure to the house was still there but the cover was removed, meaning you could still use the buildings to get height to shoot over cover but it also came at the tradeoff of sacrificing your own for a few risky kills
It’s not which one had the best destruction, it’s which one had the most destruction. Later games were heartbreaking with how badly they limited the destructible buildings to very specific ones.
also destruction is a complex mechanic to program which leads to a problem for development. Do you create similar looking building to simplify the process and allow a large scale of destruction or do you create unique assets but have limited destruction. Sure it sucks in later games but theres a reason older games destructible buildings looked mostly identical and where mostly empty and lifeless buildings.
@@CaramelMeako It’s actually much more simple to apply than you think, at least once you have system built. The reason that they didn’t put as much into newer titles is because it introduces server stress to they’re already broken servers, and it is more taxing on hardware, which they need to be careful of for consoles. They also didn’t have the time to implement it due to the crunch and poor management.
The ones where the building crumbles and cracks before it collapses, giving you time to escape after you survive a rocket or bomb blast to the building you were in. 🙃
idk about visually pleasing. did you not see all the bits of the house that just disappeared right before your eyes? good destruction but it was verry jarring
@@Mitke420 its not that I can't find servers on ps5, thats easy. The problem is on ps5 specifically bf4 has a weird connection error bug that can really only be fixed by forwarding a specific port on your internet.
BF1, you can actually use the debris to get kills, i was being chased by someone so i dropped TNT on the ground and then when i blew it up the falling debris killed them. also it looks amazing.
I miss Battlefield so much, just the chaos that would happen everyone fighting to get up the tower, these 10 minute shootouts in the train station. Great times :(
Somehow BF4 looks much worse. I think it's a shift in atmosphere maybe, like BF2042 or even BFV probably has higher graphic fidelity than BF1, but BF1 still looks way better because the art pieces just align so well.
@Prod.Kenshinnhard-line feels like a fever dream, I remember playing the beta and had a lot of fun, bought the game and didn't find that same sense of excitement as I did during the beta, and eventually went back to bf4
BFBC2 was the only one that USED destruction. The other games HAD destruction, but it always felt like a secondary gimmick. The destruction in BC2 fundamentally changed the flow of the battle and could make or break your match depending on if you could maintain your cover positions.
What do you think destruction does, white boy? It changes cover and sight lines, it absolutely does affect the flow of combat in other Battlefield games. I also think BFBC2 is the GOAT, but you don't gotta pull stuff out your ass to give it praise 😂
Battlefield 1 looks insane. I didnt enjoy the game as much as previous games but the destruction on every map but especially that dessert one felt sooo good
Bad Company. I remember I was getting pinned in this building on Rush. The map was snowy and at night. I heard and saw the enemies rushing my two story house, popped some C4s on the ceiling, jumped out the window and hit that trigger.
It isn't an animation. In all of these, it's a real time simulation. Frostbite is a wonder, but the guys that made 2042 don't quite know how to use it.
BFV had such realistic debris effects but nothing beat the terror of BF3/4 when you would hear and feel the building beginning to tremor around you just before you are crushed like a bug 😂
BF4 honestly, the mix of crumbling and explosion impact/effect just work so well together, the others aren't terrible, except 2042, that game has no redeeming features whatsoever.
Just have to say Bad Company was the first BF game I played and I had played some CoD before. But the destruction was a mind opener. I mean just to be able to somewhat shape the battlefield to your needs or liking was just awesome and spectacular. And a game changer.
I was in middle school with that game. Okaying rush on Valparaiso once, joking w buddy how cool it’d be if I shot my GL @ helicopter.. did work. Mind blowing for 12 years old. @@marcushanson1647Yes agree very true. Rush became less and less with every new BF game, sadly. Really unfortunate it peaked that early. Tbh I don't play multiplayer that much anymore in general for this reason.
@@ed_does_bbwarztbf he didn’t specifically say going prone. He could try to frame it that he meant ‘taking cover’ but yeah you prolly caught him out on this one lol
There will never be a game with this much mechanics this much uniqueness, the way in which you could use the element. You can use the very ground to your advantage to destroy tanks to give yourself a better cover was amazing no game since has come even close.
For those of us who were there, think about how lucky we were to have experienced Battlefield 3 during its peak year(s). While I still wish I could experience those memories of playing late at night with friends again, I think we can all agree those were special times and given how short it was, appreciate how lucky we were to get to experience it 😭❤️ BF4 also included of course, but BF3 will always hold that special spot for me
It's also important to note most buildings in maps prior to 2042 were destructible and most buildings in 2042 are not. Also there's a special place in my heart for the levelution that was present in BF4, it completely changed how maps were played based on whether the event was triggered or not
there's a small hand full of destructible buildings in the game and most of them weren't even there until people complained about lack of destruction and even then it was mediocre.
I think BF1 did a good job of making destruction work gameplay wise. I can’t even tell you the number of MCOMs I destroyed in BC2 by simply bringing down the building from a half mile away in a tank.
BC2 for the revolutionary experience, Battlefield 3 for its overall destruction aligned with the immersion, and BFV for its peak performance on it; building fortifications added a nice touch to it.
These are all impressive, but I can't help thinking that in real life there would be an awful lot more dust and it'd hang around for a lot longer. Something like a smoke grenade effect would work.

💯
Man I remember dropping building on people in BF3...and a building or two falling on me, good times.
Bf 3 and 1 are so good ngl
Rolling thru buildings in a tank in bf3 n 4. Good times
Man it’s been like 9-10 years since I played bf3 😢
All that did was ruin the map.
@@JakeSmith-st6vp try the finals same destruction as bf3
BC2 is too nostalgic for me. Nothing compares to it.
it really was there best tho
@@pumbo777no bfv was
I still play it to this day! Great game
@@base713 is there a player base?
Bf1 & 5 were nice because the silhouette & general structure to the house was still there but the cover was removed, meaning you could still use the buildings to get height to shoot over cover but it also came at the tradeoff of sacrificing your own for a few risky kills
Actually kinda insane how good the destruction is in these games, especially for BF3, which was released in 2011.
Bf5 is decent amount of destruction especially on the wooden houses bf42 has like no destruction
@@CaramelMeako Nah, they're just lazy pieces of 💩
BF3 Close Quarters Expansion micro-destruction 👌
Yes! This was WAY ahead of its time and thousands forget about it
Underrated for sure. Great dlc
C4 on objectives lol. Literally had to be nerfed
Im still playing it✊️💥👍
Ziba tower!
I'll always say BF3. That game was so immersive when it came out between the story mode and the multiplayer. Unmatched
The ones where the building crumbles and cracks before it collapses, giving you time to escape after you survive a rocket or bomb blast to the building you were in. 🙃
Bf1 for realistic degradation
Bfv for visually pleasing destruction
Edit: jesus that's a lot of likes
I voted V, but I think you are correct.
idk about visually pleasing. did you not see all the bits of the house that just disappeared right before your eyes? good destruction but it was verry jarring
@@Pobsworth likely not max settings then

Yes
Bf4 had better destruction. Scratch that… better E V E R Y T H I N G in fps history 😂
BFV felt most natural and BF4 had epic levolution
What? Bfv one looks like @ss
@@kevinlow69420No it looks fine.
BF4 is GOAT among BF Games, but the destruction in BF1 has the MOST realistic physics, hands down
BF4 will always be the pinnacle for me. Still pissed its almost impossible for me to play it on ps5
@@carston101 for these games u need pc, its pretty much ded on consoles, battlelog has lot of full 64 player servers even for both bf3, 4
@@Mitke420 its not that I can't find servers on ps5, thats easy. The problem is on ps5 specifically bf4 has a weird connection error bug that can really only be fixed by forwarding a specific port on your internet.
bf 4 is masterpiece but bf 3 is better
Nah BF3 was the absolute peak.
It’s so fun to have that little bit of time to jump out of the collapsing building in 4
BF1, you can actually use the debris to get kills, i was being chased by someone so i dropped TNT on the ground and then when i blew it up the falling debris killed them. also it looks amazing.
That's always been a thing. BC series and BF3/4
Typical BF player who missed out the greatest games of the serie lol.
After all these years nothing can beat BC2 and BF3.

I miss Battlefield so much, just the chaos that would happen everyone fighting to get up the tower, these 10 minute shootouts in the train station. Great times :(
The train station...my god, the memories, crazy!
literally just go play redacted on 2042
I genuinely love how the building can collapse and oof you it’s so cool
I can't believe battlefield 3 is frostbite 2. It just holds up so god damn well
Somehow BF4 looks much worse. I think it's a shift in atmosphere maybe, like BF2042 or even BFV probably has higher graphic fidelity than BF1, but BF1 still looks way better because the art pieces just align so well.
Nobody gunna talk about the building getting a huge crane slammed into the size of it in BFH
@Prod.Kenshinnhard-line feels like a fever dream, I remember playing the beta and had a lot of fun, bought the game and didn't find that same sense of excitement as I did during the beta, and eventually went back to bf4
BF1 most certainly. It felt the most natural. I loved driving around the map in a tank and blowing up random crap more than any other Battlefield.
Not even close to bf4
@@CaughtSlackin_ the buildings in bf4 had foundations made of paper
@@CaughtSlackin_4 has ok destructions, I think 1 does it better but that is just my opinion
@@sugarflame1833 but it is infact more destruction on bf4 then 1.
@@CaughtSlackin_ BF1 actually got what a rubble scape looks like right.
Crazy how amazing BF3/4 were and still are even just from a technical perspective.
BFBC2 was the only one that USED destruction. The other games HAD destruction, but it always felt like a secondary gimmick. The destruction in BC2 fundamentally changed the flow of the battle and could make or break your match depending on if you could maintain your cover positions.
The destruction does change the flow in others games too, tf you talkin about
BF1 is like this though
Although looking at other comments probably not as in depth
What do you think destruction does, white boy? It changes cover and sight lines, it absolutely does affect the flow of combat in other Battlefield games. I also think BFBC2 is the GOAT, but you don't gotta pull stuff out your ass to give it praise 😂
@@MomJeans1738 black person? Opinion rejected. Have a nice day.
Battlefield 1 looks insane. I didnt enjoy the game as much as previous games but the destruction on every map but especially that dessert one felt sooo good
Bad Company 2. Because it was unprecedented at the time and it felt really fun blowing up two full squads camping inside the building.
Bad Company. I remember I was getting pinned in this building on Rush. The map was snowy and at night. I heard and saw the enemies rushing my two story house, popped some C4s on the ceiling, jumped out the window and hit that trigger.
You can tell that the 2042 animation team had a smaller budget
XD HAHA LOL…
…your joking, right?
@@Skeleton_With_VR Do you think 2042 has better production value?
It isn't an animation. In all of these, it's a real time simulation.
Frostbite is a wonder, but the guys that made 2042 don't quite know how to use it.
BFV had such realistic debris effects but nothing beat the terror of BF3/4 when you would hear and feel the building beginning to tremor around you just before you are crushed like a bug 😂
So true sniping on golmud in the village in one of the buildings and suddenly hearing and feeling the building collapse
BFV because it's not only more visually impressive but also because it kept gameplay balance in check in terms of destruction
The battlefield theme gives me chills. I was so addicted for so long
5 was really cool on the winter maps. The snow coming off the roofs.
Narvik SUCKS!!!!!!
@@EyePatchGuy88 ok. Why?
Definitely not Battlefield 2042 that's for sure.
Can’t come up with an answer because your half a brain cell not working?
man i remember the hype when they dropped the trailer for 2042 only for it to turn out they way it did
Throwing an anti-tank grenade in a house killing 3 soldiers inside and watching it fall apart is a very common thing in bf1 and we all love that
BF4 honestly, the mix of crumbling and explosion impact/effect just work so well together, the others aren't terrible, except 2042, that game has no redeeming features whatsoever.
Halo & Battlefield have been my favorite Xbox FPS gameplay. Also Ghost Recon & Gears.
I’m trying to get a gaming PC & get into Arma mods.
Back when rush was EPIC!!😢
@@marcushanson1647Yes agree very true. Rush became less and less with every new BF game, sadly. Really unfortunate it peaked that early.
Tbh I don't play multiplayer that much anymore in general for this reason.
BF2 holds a special place in my heart for liberating campers of their hidey places
Nothing like BFBC2 and laying in a destructed house camping at the enemies spawn 😎
But there's no prone in BC2?
@@ed_does_bbwarztbf he didn’t specifically say going prone. He could try to frame it that he meant ‘taking cover’ but yeah you prolly caught him out on this one lol
There will never be a game with this much mechanics this much uniqueness, the way in which you could use the element. You can use the very ground to your advantage to destroy tanks to give yourself a better cover was amazing no game since has come even close.
For those of us who were there, think about how lucky we were to have experienced Battlefield 3 during its peak year(s). While I still wish I could experience those memories of playing late at night with friends again, I think we can all agree those were special times and given how short it was, appreciate how lucky we were to get to experience it 😭❤️ BF4 also included of course, but BF3 will always hold that special spot for me
Davmand peak rush mode

@@oynlengeymer2434yeah bf3 had the best maps
Bf3 was awesome 🔥
BF4 was what converted me fully from CoD. But BF3 just has something "different" about it. Knowing me it was probs the sound design
It's also important to note most buildings in maps prior to 2042 were destructible and most buildings in 2042 are not. Also there's a special place in my heart for the levelution that was present in BF4, it completely changed how maps were played based on whether the event was triggered or not
BFV just nailed it

Honestly didn't expect that building in 2042 to deconstruct like that. I feel like overall the deconstruction is kind of weak
Yeah Jack overpresented it. Nothing else is destroyed like that
there's a small hand full of destructible buildings in the game and most of them weren't even there until people complained about lack of destruction and even then it was mediocre.
@@MTheConqueror how can he over present it when he only showed one house xD
It’s the one building like that
Nothing puts the fear of the Almighty faster than hearing the sounds of a caving in house in BC2.
And you're still inside

“We had a good thing you and I, but you just had to throw it all away”
For some reason the lack of destruction moves it very low but it looked visually appealing imo
Bf1 no doubt. Deserves a lot more love too
I think BF1 did a good job of making destruction work gameplay wise.
I can’t even tell you the number of MCOMs I destroyed in BC2 by simply bringing down the building from a half mile away in a tank.
Have to go with BF1 here, really liked how the brick looked on that building as it exploded.
I will forever remember the rpg flyby wizz sounds from bf3 operation locker. My god 🫡
Gotta go with BC2 - you could level entire maps there. Plus it's the oldest on the list yet still looks good.
BC2 for the revolutionary experience, Battlefield 3 for its overall destruction aligned with the immersion, and BFV for its peak performance on it; building fortifications added a nice touch to it.
The finals, were all the talented destructive devs went
before battlefield v they all left and made the finals, you can see the difference after they went
BC2 and BF3 were peak Battlefield times, everything after that went downhill.
BC2 first ever BF game and I still have friends play it with me, says a lot.
I was half expecting 2042 to have no destruction lmao
BFV or BF1 for me. In 2042 it's honestly kinda hard to notice most of the time :/
These are all impressive, but I can't help thinking that in real life there would be an awful lot more dust and it'd hang around for a lot longer. Something like a smoke grenade effect would work.
